The world needs design

The agency /herrmann is responsible for the current comprehensive campaign for GDK Design School Zurich.

Professions in the fields of design and communication have a greater impact on our everyday lives than you think. The new campaign for the GDK Design School Zurich illustrates this fact in a very practical way directly on the object: Who actually turns a sheet of paper into a poster? Who transforms an empty room into a production? Or a screen into a user experience?

The new GDK campaign aims to motivate school leavers to turn their design talent into a career and establish the GDK Design School Zurich as a provider of preliminary courses and vocational training in design.

The campaign will start in mid-March with a poster display in Zurich, Winterthur, Eastern Switzerland and Aargau. At "Grafik 16" in the MAAG hall, the GDK Design School also wants to cause a stir with a painting campaign by Fredinko.

Responsible at GDK Design School Zurich: Hans Tanner and Christoph Burkart (overall responsibility). Responsible at /herrmann: Valentina Herrmann (Art & Creative Direction), Beat Egger (Concept & Text), Zsigmond Toth (Photography), Starcom Mediavest Group Zurich (Media), Fredinko (Painting Action).

New identity for secondary school

Gestalt Communication: No exceptions at Quickline

Quickline is serious about fast Internet and is launching a campaign for the new minimum bandwidth throughout the area.

The competition promises super-fast Internet, but cannot deliver the high bandwidths everywhere outside the central areas. Quickline is quite different: 200 Mbit/s is the minimum even on the most remote Internet connection, according to a statement on Tuesday.

Gestalt Kommunikation puts this in the spotlight in an uncompromising campaign. At the center is a spot in a barbershop, which forms the conclusion of a cinematic campaign trilogy.

It was filmed in an authentic setting in a real barbershop. The campaign is now running in Quickline's distribution area. The measures: Cinema spots, Internet TV spots, digital out of home spots, passenger TV spots, posters and POS measures.

NZZ: Vienna and Zurich work more closely together

The NZZ Media Group is restructuring its Austrian digital product, NZZ.at. Going forward, the technology, marketing, and international content teams will be based in Switzerland. Nine employees in Austria will be laid off.

The NZZ Media Group is increasingly leveraging synergies with its Austrian digital product NZZ.at. The focus is on integrating NZZ.at into the technical infrastructure and into the parent company's new data-driven marketing systems and processes.

Vienna and Zurich will also work more closely together editorially. In the future, international topics will be covered by the NZZ editorial team in Zurich with its worldwide network of correspondents, while the editorial team in Vienna will concentrate even more on those Austrian topics relating to politics, business and society which, according to studies of user behavior, attract particularly great interest.

Nine redundancies

Due to closer ties between Zurich and Vienna in the areas of technology, marketing and editorial, nine NZZ.at employees will leave the company by September, the company announced in a statement Tuesday. "We are not terminating any of these employment relationships in the short term," it said. NZZ Media Group is taking its responsibility as an employer seriously and is supporting colleagues in this change process," said Anita Zielina, editor-in-chief of New Products at NZZ. Michael Fleischhacker will remain Editor-in-Chief of NZZ.at.

NZZ.at has established itself well as a liberal voice in the Austrian media market within its first year of existence, it continues. This is demonstrated, for example, by the close interaction with several thousand subscribers and the regularly booked-out club evenings. CEO Veit Dengler emphasizes the long-term commitment of the NZZ Media Group in Austria: "The investment in Austria is part of our product and internationalization strategy. Austria is and remains an important market for NZZ. With this new setup, we are securing the future of NZZ.at."

Tamedia: lower sales and significantly higher profit

The media group Tamedia reported lower revenue in the past fiscal year. However, the merged directory service resulting from the combination of Search.ch and Local.ch led to a net profit that was more than double the previous amount.

The economic slowdown and the ongoing structural change led to a 4.5 percent drop in sales to 1.06 billion Swiss francs, the Zurich-based media group announced on Tuesday. Earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization (EBITDA) increased slightly to 243.4 million francs compared to 240.7 million francs in the previous year.

Earnings before interest and taxes (EBIT), on the other hand, fell by around 23% to around CHF 130 million. This was due to impairment losses on goodwill amounting to around CHF 40 million. The need for impairment was mainly due to the poorer than expected business performance in 2015 in the Publishing Regional and National business divisions and at individual digital companies, as well as the subsequently adjusted growth forecasts.

The bottom line was an increase in net profit of 109 percent to CHF 334 million. This was due in particular to a revaluation gain resulting from the transfer of Search.ch to a joint directory company with telecoms provider Swisscom.

Employees also benefit

The employees should also benefit from this: Tamedia will pay all employees a bonus of CHF 6,200 for a 100 percent workload. The bonus is reduced accordingly for part-time employees. The Group is spending a total of 14.9 million francs on this bonus. Those responsible are not stingy with themselves either: Tamedia CEO Christoph Tonini receives remuneration of six million francs - twice as much as in the previous year.(SDA)

Erdmannpeisker: New motifs for Dar-vida

The agency has created new motifs and a fitness center campaign for two new Dar-vida products.

Dar-vida has started the new year with two new products under the slogan "Full of grain, full of smart": "Dar-vida extra fin Chia & Quinoa" and "Sandwich Apricots & Yoghurt". Erdmannpeisker has developed a campaign theme for each in the already established illustration style, which presents Dar-vida as a smart snack.

In order to address new target groups, a campaign was also carried out in various fitness centers in German- and French-speaking Switzerland, with two target group-specific motifs and an additional sampling.

Last but not least: Firefighters' wives

When children imagine firefighters, doctors or pilots, are they male or female? An experiment at a British elementary school shows how stereotypically children think.

As part of International Women's Day, the organization Inspiring the Future conducted an experiment at an elementary school in the UK. 20 children were asked by the three substitute teachers Lucy, Tamzin and Lauren to draw firefighters, doctors or pilots. The result: the children drew 56 men - and only five women.

To ensure that the schoolchildren are not later restricted by such stereotypes in their choice of profession, the organization regularly seeks volunteers to talk to the children about their professions and such prejudices. Like the three "teachers" Lucy, Tamzin and Lauren, who are actually a firefighter, surgeon and pilot.

The agency Mullen Lowe London is responsible for the campaign and supports the organization pro bono. (sis)

"We have one. And you?"

Ammarkt is helping Bico—the Swiss manufacturer of high-quality sleep systems—create a completely new brand identity. At the heart of it is what everyone wants and what Bico delivers: «A deep, healthy sleep.».

And this is what the quality label created by Ammarkt stands for: the "Four B's" - the Bico success formula. Because all mattresses are tested for the four central quality features "Bico Ergonomics", "Bico Climate", "Bico Durability" and "Bico Hygiene". The "Four B's" give customers the certainty of getting "ä tüüfä gsundä Schlaaf".

The campaign dramatizes this product advantage with a new visual world, testimonials, and a gentle adaptation of the familiar claim. This was achieved through TV commercials, advertisements, a new website and various online measures. The agency also developed product catalogs for customers and retailers.

National Council does not want a report on unsolicited advertising calls

The National Council does not currently see any need for action regarding unsolicited advertising calls from health insurance companies. It therefore does not wish to instruct the Federal Council to review the effect of self-regulation by health insurance companies.

The National Council narrowly rejected a postulate by Prisca Birrer-Heimo (SP/LU) by 97 votes to 88 with 4 abstentions.

The Health Insurance Supervision Act, which provides for self-regulation of health insurance companies with regard to telephone advertising, has been in force since the beginning of the year. However, Birrer-Heimo, President of the Foundation for Consumer Protection (SKS), found that there were justified doubts about the functioning of self-regulation.

Such self-regulation was already in force from June 2011 to the beginning of 2014, but the Alliance of Consumer Protection Organizations still received several thousand complaints a year, said Birrer-Heimo. The effect of the measures must be examined so that further steps can be taken if necessary.

The Federal Council also spoke out in favor of the postulate. However, Health Minister Alain Berset pointed out that a certain transitional period was necessary. Only in two or three years' time would it be possible to take stock.

The postulate was opposed by the right. Sebastian Frehner (SVP/BS) argued that it was wrong to go over the books now. The new Health Insurance Supervision Act, in which self-regulation was anchored, had not been in force for long. Moreover, it was a typical case of self-regulation, as is often the case in Switzerland. (SDA)

Spot advertising: New appearance for World Ski Championships 2017

The St. Moritz-based communications agency Spot Werbung has developed the new website for the 2017 World Ski Championships in St. Moritz. The agency was also responsible for the website during the last World Ski Championships held in Switzerland in 2003.

The Alpine World Ski Championships are the most important championships in alpine ski racing and take place every two years. St. Moritz 2017 is already the fifth major event of this kind for the Engadin, after 1934, 1948, 1974 and 2003. The event also has a long tradition at the St. Moritz communications agency Spot Werbung: it was responsible for the website for the 2003 World Ski Championships and is now once again the official supplier for the 2017 World Ski Championships website. Stmoritz2017.ch focuses on various social media channels in addition to important updates such as live tickers and results during the event. The organizing committee is completely dispensing with traditional news and communicating about the event exclusively via social networks. All fan posts with the hashtag #stmoritz2017 will also be published on a "social wall".

TBWA\Zurich: Roger Federer flees from T-Rex

In the new Sunrise campaign created by TBWA\Zurich, brand ambassador Roger Federer finds himself face to face with a Tyrannosaurus rex.

Sunrise Home offers the fastest Internet and digital TV at home. The digital TV offer was already voted the best TV offer in Switzerland by Bilanz readers six months ago. TBWA now realized the second campaign for Sunrise Home, which follows the guiding principle that no spectacle is needed if the product speaks for itself. From this point of view, there is no need for Roger Federer, who puts the product benefits in the spotlight. The spectacular chase with the T-Rex forms a dramatic contrast to the sober but all the more convincing product benefits.

The first film already generated more than 8.5 million contacts worldwide via Roger Federer's Facebook account. And the second film has already attracted more than 2.3 million fans online in the first two days. In addition to the TV spot, the integrated campaign, which will run until mid-April, also includes posters, print, a microsite, other online measures, and POS and CRM advertising media.
