Last but not least: In Düsseldorf, "Day of the Schools" is also "Day of the Gays"

As the host of the Eurovision Song Contest ESC, the city of Düsseldorf has made a mistake. In an ESC city guide, the city invited people to an "action day for gays" instead of an "action day for schools". But the mistake did not stop there...

On Wednesday, a spokesperson for Düsseldorfer Marketing & Tourismus GmbH confirmed a corresponding report in the Bild newspaper. In the translation in the English-language version, the printing error in the German edition of the brochure led to a "Gay's Day of Action" being advertised. The tourist office subsequently corrected the error in all 65,000 German and 35,000 English-language copies of the brochure. Without the correction, the event would certainly have enjoyed great popularity, as the ESC has long enjoyed cult status in the gay scene, SDA speculated in a report on Wednesday.
But that's not all. The makers of the English version had to correct a second embarrassing mistake. Instead of "Welcome to Düsseldorf", the page cover incorrectly read "Wielcome to Düsseldorf". Unfortunately, there was not enough time for a reprint, so the wrong "i" was simply painted over. The revised brochure is now being distributed again.

Assai and Wirz stage "never give up!"

Assai Dialog + Digital is collaborating with Wirz Werbung to design the communications for the nonprofit project by Dani Albrecht, Silvano Beltrametti & Friends. The original campaign, “never give up!”, was launched in January 2009 following Dani Albrecht’s serious accident in Kitzbühel.

The aim was to support people in a wide variety of life situations and motivate them not to give up. The positive response, which continues to this day, has prompted Albrecht and Beltrametti to expand the project further. With never-give-up.ch, the Wirz Group's dialog agency designed a community platform as a meeting place for exchanging opinions and information. Wirz Werbung developed the corporate design with a new logo and is responsible for various advertising measures.

Amazon grows while profits shrink

The online retailer Amazon is showing enormous growth. But profits are shrinking at the same rate. That's because Amazon is tempting customers with low prices.

In the first quarter, sales of the U.S. group soared by 38 percent to 9.9 billion dollars. At the same time, the retailer is putting a lot of money into advertising, new products, expanding its logistics centers and improving IT. This left $201 million at the beginning of the year - a third less than in the same period last year.

They have never been more enthusiastic about the long-term possibilities, founder and company CEO Jeff Bezos said Tuesday, according to SDA. He said he was trying to win investors over to his sometimes painful growth path. The stock was slightly down in after-hours trading.

The online retailer no longer just sells books, electronic goods or fashion. The group operates web hosting, offers movies for online rental and sells apps for the booming Android smartphones. Recently, Amazon also launched a cloud music service and brought its payment service and e-book business to Germany.
