Advertising, Art & Ideas: Conversations in the ladies' room and on the construction site

Janzz uses Web 3.0 to connect people, jobs, and companies with the right skills. The agency Advertising, Art & Ideas has highlighted this in a new radio ad campaign.

At Janzz, everyone—regardless of skill level—gets a chance, whether as a dog walker, a mountain guide, for an internship or apprenticeship, or a career in IT. In a humorous—and at times darkly humorous—way, the new radio ad campaign highlights the many ways Janzz can be used in a wide variety of surprising situations, according to a statement released Wednesday by Advertising, Art & Ideas.

Crane operators who fall, teenage girls chatting in the women’s restroom, patients who wake up from anesthesia in the middle of surgery, and more: The «Recently in…» campaign knows few limits and shows that you no longer have to be actively looking for a job to find your dream job, that as a freelancer you no longer have to actively seek out clients to land assignments, and that your skills are in demand in fields you would never have imagined.

The commercials are airing on Energy Zürich and Bern.

Person in charge at Janzz: Stefan Winzenried (Overall Responsibility). Person in charge of Advertising, Art & Ideas: Stefan Böhi (Project Manager), Michael Chiller-Glaus (Concept and Copy), Nadja Laudenbacher (Consultant), Jonas Kiefer (Producer). Radio spot production: Selmi Tonstudio, Zurich.

Journalists freed from hotel in Tripoli

At a hotel in Tripoli, 35 foreign journalists were held captive by supporters of the Libyan dictator. The journalists have now been released. Gaddafi's supporters reportedly told them they could leave safely.

The 35 or so reporters from various media organizations had been held in the hotel by armed Gaddafi supporters since the insurgents advanced into Tripoli at the beginning of the week. "Five-star hostage situation" is how CNN described the situation. The reporters have now left the Rixos Hotel in a convoy of vehicles. This was reported by CNN reporter Matthew Chance on Wednesday afternoon. "It was a nightmare," Chance said. Everyone was completely relieved. BBC reporter Matthew Prise also confirmed the release of the reporters after days of fear.

On Wednesday, reporters from the BBC and CNN reported that the journalists were prevented from leaving the luxury Rixos Hotel. The gunmen had threatened a cameraman from the British television station ITN with an AK 47 automatic rifle. This was reported by BBC reporter Matthew Price according to SDA. There was great nervousness among the journalists. They assumed that snipers loyal to Gaddafi were still posted on the roof. Price went on to report that the situation had worsened massively on Wednesday night. Guards were patrolling the corridors. It was clear that the journalists were not allowed to leave the hotel voluntarily.

According to SDA, CNN reporter Matthew Chance reported that there was only intermittent electricity. The "guests" of the hotel ran around at night with candles to search the rooms of the luxury hotel for food. Attempts were made to persuade the armed men to let the foreigners go. This failed.

RTL Group: Defying the slump in several advertising markets

Despite weak advertising markets in Germany and Southern Europe, RTL Group posted slightly higher revenue and significantly higher profits in the first half of the year. However, following a particularly strong 2010, revenue rose by only 3.4 percent to around 2.75 billion euros.

Profits at Europe's largest television group jumped 24 percent to 382 million euros, partly because the loss-making subsidiary Five has now been sold. The general conditions in Europe were very different, RTL Group CEO Gerhard Zeiler reported on Wednesday. In France, Belgium and Holland, the advertising markets grew, while in Southern and Eastern Europe they shrank. In Germany, the overall market stagnated.

The production company Fremantle Media (Deutschland sucht den Superstar) recently had more sales but less profit due to industry pressure on production costs. Zeiler nevertheless expressed confidence that this would be offset in the year as a whole. The Greek station Alpha continues to be the Group's problem child.

Although job cuts and a program reform have reduced costs, the advertising market is still in the red. Despite a significant increase in viewers, the slump in the advertising market in the country, which has been hit by the debt crisis and a radical austerity program, has left the company in the red. The goodwill of the loss-maker was completely written off last year. (sda)

New management at Yukawa Switzerland

A little more than two years after it was founded, the Bern-based agency Yukawa is making personnel changes. Felix Tanner has been managing the business in Switzerland since August 1.

Born in Bern, he lives in Basel and will be traveling throughout Switzerland. In 2009, Yukawa appeared on the scene with interactive web TV for Bern's SC Young Boys. Since then, the Bern-based company has been able to put the business on a broader footing and position itself as a service provider for complex technical web projects, according to a Yukawa press release. The personnel upgrade was made necessary by the new products in the areas of multi-touch and gesture control.

The founder of the agency, Axel Post, will now focus more on the German market. The technical part of the company is already based in Aachen. Felix Tanner and Axel Post are currently working on the handover and defining the tasks.

20 Minutes: Free newspaper available in Biel again

After a two-year hiatus, the French-language free newspaper 20 Minutes is once again being delivered to Biel. It had temporarily been unavailable in Biel following its merger with Le Matin Bleu.

The total circulation remains unchanged. It was simply decided to distribute a few thousand copies in the Biel region instead of Geneva in the future. This is what editor-in-chief Philippe Favre told the SDA news agency on Wednesday. The German-language counterpart 20 Minuten has always been available in Biel.

Sunrise with successful first half of 2011

In the first half of 2011, Sunrise reported growth in all key areas. The customer base grew by 3.2 percent compared with the same period a year earlier, reaching 2.95 million customers. Operating profit (EBITA) rose by 2.7 percent compared with the same period a year earlier, reaching 287 million.

This successful development is primarily based on the significant increase in the mobile postpaid customer segment, which recorded growth of 140,487 customers. This corresponds to an increase of 15.5 percent compared to the first half of 2010, Sunrise wrote in a media release on Wednesday.

In February, Sunrise applied to the Federal Communications Commission Comcom for proceedings in 2011 on the unbundling of local loops ULL and on interconnection prices. In April, the Federal Administrative Court ruled in another case that the LRIC method used to calculate access costs to the existing network can be changed under the legal ordinance to the Telecommunications Act, which is currently being revised. It is strongly committed to improving the regulatory framework for private telecommunications companies in Switzerland, Sunrise said in a statement.

With the start of the new CCO Andreas Gregori in mid-August, Sunrise has completed its management team. Investments in the expansion of the network and customer service will be driven forward, according to Oliver Steil, CEO of Sunrise.

Last but not least: Award for Sir David Attenborough

In recognition of his remarkable career in television, particularly in the field of nature films, Sir David Attenborough will receive the IBC2011 International Honor for Excellence. His Atlantic Productions documentary *Flying Monsters 3D*, featuring Sir David Attenborough, is one of the most acclaimed programs ever commissioned by Sky 3D.

Attenborough's career spans nearly 60 years. It began at the BBC in 1952, when he made his name in front of the camera in natural history programs, but also with the Zoo Quest expeditions he produced. These involved him and a small crew setting out with a 16mm camera to bring back from a remote corner of the world a rare animal for the London Zoo and enough footage for a television series. Attenborough retired from program production in the mid-1960s after being appointed head of the newly launched BBC2 channel. There he was commissioned, among others, the program Monty Python's Flying Circus, which has conceivably little to do with natural history, according to Presseportal.ch. In 1979, he filmed Life on Earth and its sequel with mountain gorillas. These are among the most watched programs ever broadcast. Sir David Attenborough has been called "the greatest broadcaster of our time," says Peter Owen, chairman of the IBC Council.
The IBC Awards Ceremony, which includes a special tribute to Sir David Attenborough and a sneak peek at Atlantic Productions' latest stereoscopic 3D nature programs, will take place on Sunday, September 11. The International Honour for Excellence award is the highest honor bestowed by IBC. It is given to individuals and organizations that have used - and advanced - the best available technology to create sophisticated broadcast content.
