Poster Performance Index of APG/SGA
APG/SGA is now collecting data on the effectiveness of poster campaigns via an online survey. Along with this update to the survey method, the areas covered have been expanded to include Switzerland’s five major urban centers.
The Poster Performance Index (PPI) shows how poster campaigns work. Launched in 1997, the PPI database comprises over 850 documented poster campaigns. Starting this year, APG/SGA is updating the survey method in collaboration with the Zurich-based market research institute Innofact. The previous face-to-face street interviews will be replaced by the proven online survey method CAWI (computer assisted web interviews). Various tests of the different methods last year showed that the results remain stable and comparable. Eight survey waves are again planned for 2012. PPI will examine the biggest poster campaigns of selected customers in terms of recall, brand association, and liking.
Last year, 79 campaigns were tested as part of the PPI. The top list shows that McDonald′s made it onto the podium twice: With 78 percent recall and 98 percent brand attribution, the "Smileys" campaign took first place among all poster campaigns tested in 2011. "Summer Swim Wear" by Hennes & Mauritz follows close behind: 75 percent of respondents remembered this campaign, of which 83 percent named the correct brand. "McWrap" by McDonald′s is in third place with 73 percent recall and 92 percent brand attribution.
