SRG Aargau Solothurn: Peter Moor is the new president

Peter Moor is the new president of SRG Aargau Solothurn. Peter Studer heads the regional member association of SRG Deutschschweiz.

The 54-year-old from Olten and Head of Communications at the transport workers' union SEV will take over the position with immediate effect, as announced by SRG Aargau Solothurn on Wednesday after the 32nd General Assembly. Moor had already served on the board many years ago. He left the board after two years in favor of his journalistic work at the regional journal Aargau Solothurn of Schweizer Radio.

Tages-Anzeiger discontinues split editions

Starting June 1, 2012, the newspapers Zürcher Oberländer, Zürcher Unterländer, and Zürichsee-Zeitung will once again be in full-fledged journalistic competition with the Tages-Anzeiger.

The Tages-Anzeiger will cease to receive local news texts from the three regional newspapers from this date, as Tamedia writes in a press release on Wednesday. In addition, the Zürcher Unterländer will be given a new editorial concept over the course of the summer. In future, the focus will be even more strongly on local and regional reporting from the communities of the Zürcher Unterland. With these steps, the Tamedia media group is making a commitment to two independent newspapers in the Zurich area. Based on the positive experience with two differently oriented daily newspapers in the Berne area, Tamedia wants to strengthen competition between the independent editorial offices.

The Tages-Anzeiger is merging the previous split editions Rechtes Seeufer, Linkes Seeufer, Unterland and Oberland into the Zurich and Region bundle. As before the launch of the split editions in 2006, the Tages-Anzeiger is thus concentrating on its role as a "leading national daily newspaper with strong roots in the city of Zurich". The discontinuation of the split editions is expected to lead to four redundancies in the city and regional reporting department, which will now comprise 27 employees.

Realignment of the Zürcher Unterländer

The Zürcher Unterländer is realigning itself and sharpening its journalistic profile. By cooperating with the Zürichsee-Zeitung in various service areas, the aim is to reduce losses and free up more resources for editorial services. The aim is to present events relevant to the Zürcher Unterland in a more varied way and closer to the readers. Benjamin Geiger, who is already interim editor of the Zürcher Unterländer, is the new editor-in-chief of the Zürcher Unterländer and, as before, the Zürichsee-Zeitung. He will be supported by Cyprian Schnoz, editorial director of the Zürcher Unterländer, and the three editorial directors of the Zürichsee-Zeitung.

The realignment will lead to six redundancies at Zürcher Unterländer and Zürichsee-Zeitung, five of which are employees in service areas. All affected employees will receive supportive benefits such as extended notice periods.

The joint editorial office of the Zurich regional newspapers under the management of the Winterthurer Landbote and the editorial offices of the Zürcher Oberländer and the Anzeiger von Uster are not affected by the measures.

Ruf Lanz: Oekopool campaign included in Lürzer's archive

Every two months, Lürzer's Archive features the most creative advertising campaigns from around the world. Ruf Lanz's Oekopool advertiser campaign has also been included in the latest issue.

It shows that even left-wing contemporaries can be enthusiastic about brands. For example, Fidel Castro wore a Rolex, Che Guevara liked to quench his thirst with Coca Cola, and Joschka Fischer didn't take the oath in any no-name sneakers, but in Nikes.

Romandie Network launches online advertising network

Romandie Network has launched the online advertising network AD. AD is available as CPM and display advertising; video and mobile solutions will be offered at a later date.

AD opens up new communication opportunities for advertisers within a high-quality environment of national and international websites. Stefan Renninger, CEO and founder of Romandie Network, said in a statement Tuesday. In terms of audience, it offers potential coverage of more than 80 percent of French-speaking Switzerland and monthly traffic of more than 75 million page impressions.

Advertisers can distribute their advertising messages throughout the network or use options such as behavioral, geo and retargeting. Furthermore, it is possible to communicate within previously defined pages and thus work with affinities.

AD is experiencing rapid growth, according to the Romandie Network release. It consists mainly of the websites Romandie.com, Swisstxt.ch, Arcinfo.ch, Latele.ch, Lemanbleu.ch, Lenouvelliste.ch, Lacote.ch, Bonus.ch, Itaste.com, Agefi.com, Market.ch, Psychologies.com, Allocine.com, Doctissimo.ch and Dailymotion.com, it said.

The technical solution was developed by Adwebster in Zurich.

Mediapulse wants to be the world leader with TV measurement

The Mediapulse Group, which is responsible for radio and TV research, closed its fourth financial year with a profit. The new TV measurement panel is well on track. The measurement of web radio usage, on the other hand, is delayed.

The Mediapulse Group closed its fourth financial year (2011) with sales of 19.4 million Swiss francs, 2 percent more than the previous year. This is according to the figures presented in Bern on Tuesday. The additional revenue was possible thanks to new customers in the TV sector, such as Ringier, which has been marketing the TV advertising window of French broadcaster TF1 since 2011. Profit also increased by 4 percent to 644'000 francs, thanks in part to a profit share of 125'000 francs from the 45 percent stake in internet research company NET-Metrix.

Almost 10 million Swiss francs for panel investments

The Mediapulse Group, which is setting up a new TV measurement panel with the British company Kantar Media as of January 1, 2013, has around CHF 10 million available for panel investments (including in the radio measurement panel) - thanks to federal contributions that could be set aside in the first three years of operation (CHF 1.7 million) and those that have been pledged for 2011 - 2013 and, according to Mediapulse CEO Manuel Dähler, can be partly drawn in advance. Thanks to this money, Mediapulse can make the investments in the new panel without external financing. In return, Telecontrol's existing TV measurement equipment will be written off at the end of 2012.

Write-offs because of PIN data?

The annual report also shows that the cost of evaluating a new planning and accounting software called EvoAd, which took several years, amounted to around 700,000 Swiss francs. However, this amount does not include the personnel expenses that were necessary for this. EvoAd was originally intended to replace the previous planning and booking tools and enable planning with PIN data, but it was then rejected - in a slimmed-down version - by the market participants (marketers and media agencies). That's why the two TV marketers Publisuisse and Goldbach Group started a new evaluation, in which EvoAd is back in the running. The outcome of this will determine, among other things, whether and how much Mediapulse will have to write off the amount mentioned.

Web radio: Measurement postponed

Dähler also announced some "bad news": The measurement of web radio usage cannot start this summer as announced, but has to be postponed to next year. The preparatory work and tests took longer than planned, he said. The new TV panel, on the other hand, seems to be well on its way. Already, Kantar Media has set up a branch in Switzerland and moved into office space at Bahnhofstr. 4 in Gümligen. The Dane Keld Nielsen, Global Business Development Director of Kantar Media, and the Israeli Eitan Kassif, as Regional Director for the time being also boss in Switzerland (teaser picture), were then also present at the Mediapulse press conference and briefly introduced the company: Kantar Media is part of the WPP Group, one of the world's largest media and communications companies, headquartered in London. Kantar is active in media and consumer research in around 40 countries. The Swiss office will comprise around 30 people, and the managing director is to be announced soon.

At the top of the world with a new TV panel

The new TV panel is currently being set up and is expected to equip 1870 households with the Kantar 500 Series meter by the end of 2012, almost the same number as today (1918 households). The measurement is based - similar to radio measurement - on the principle of audio matching. In this way, not only live usage can be measured, as is the case today, but now also time-delayed usage - whether on the TV set, on the PC or on a mobile device - for up to seven days after the initial broadcast, as Isabel Wenger, Head of Research at Mediapulse, pointed out. The new Mediapulse panel will thus be one of the first country panels in the world to also include web TV usage and will therefore "move up to the top of the world in TV research". A paradigm shift is thus taking place in TV measurement: "The focus on the TV set is giving way to a focus on the content," Wenger said.

TCS: Don't let them hit you in the p(f)anne

True to the proverb "Don't let yourself be hit in the head", the TCS Waldstätte section recently painted lettering on the rear of a bus belonging to the Lucerne public transport company VBL. The campaign, designed by Wörterbücher, aims to raise awareness of the TCS used car test at the Emmen test center.

The technical test center of the TCS Waldstätte section carries out various vehicle tests, including the official motor vehicle inspection and the emissions test. The offer also includes the used car test. The car is put through its paces for around 90 minutes. With the lettering on a VBL bus, the TCS used car test is now to be specifically highlighted. The Lucerne agency Wörterbucher is responsible for creating the advertising measures.

The message "Don't get caught in a breakdown" is intended to establish the link between breakdowns and the Occasion Test. Thanks to the permanent bus ride, the TCS subject is visible to a broad target group in Lucerne's city and conurbation traffic. Not just for car drivers, but for all road users. In addition, the affinity to mobility is perfectly guaranteed.

The campaign, which is initially planned for one year, will be flanked by posters and print advertisements with the same motif during the launch phase.

Notch Interactive: Seven news platforms in one fell swoop

Notch Interactive is promoting Newsnet's offerings with a new campaign. Newsnet has seven different news platforms in its portfolio where advertisers can run ads simultaneously.

At the center of the campaign is a computer mouse connected to seven cables. Newsnet thus stands for an information network that offers marketers seven different advertising platforms at the click of a mouse, the agency wrote in a press release on Tuesday. The business-to-business campaign, which was developed and implemented by the creative team at Notch Interactive, will be placed using advertisements and banners in both German-speaking and French-speaking Switzerland.

Responsible at Newsnet: Denise Eggenberger (Deputy Head of Advertising Market and Marketing). Responsible at Notch Interactive: Peter A. van der Touw (overall responsibility), Martin Pfeiffer (conception, producing), Jeff Gerber (creative direction), Marco Klein (art direction), David Elmiger (conception, text), Marina Sancho Vila (design), Mathias Tanner (group account director), Anna-Katharina Höke (consulting), Detail AG (lithography), Paolo Emmanuele (photography), Stephan Riederer (image processing).

Orange Cinema now digital at all three locations

Cinerent, the organizer of Orange Cinema, is not only introducing the digitalization of commercials in Zurich. Now Basel and Bern are also switching to digital.

This will make it much cheaper and less complicated for customers to place their advertising spots, according to an Orange Cinema press release. Various tests have convinced Cinerent that the digitization of all three locations can already take place this year. "Digitization brings us and our customers considerable advantages, as the relatively high costs of transferring to 35mm are eliminated. It also allows us to react much more flexibly to booking requests at short notice," says Julie Varghaiyan from Cinerent.
