Tamedia sells Swissprinters stake to Ringier and NZZ

Tamedia is selling its 16-percent minority stake in the printing company Swissprinters to the holding company SWP. SWP is a joint subsidiary of the media companies Ringier and NZZ.

Details of the sale were not disclosed, Swissprinters announced on Wednesday. Tamedia media spokesman Christoph Zimmer told news agency SDA that the sale would have no operational impact on the printing of the company's own newspapers. These would continue to be printed at Tamedia's three centers in Bern, Zurich and Bussigny near Lausanne.

Tamedia had acquired a stake in Swissprinters in the course of the takeover of the French-speaking Swiss publishing house Edipresse, which was initiated at the end of 2009. The stake was held by Tamedia Publications Romandes, which comprises all the Tamedia Group's print products in French-speaking Switzerland, including the magazines Bilan and Femina.

Femina was previously printed in Renens

According to Tamedia spokesman Zimmer, Femina has been printed at the Swissprinters site in Renens near Lausanne until now. Just the day before, Swissprinters had announced that it would not close the Renens site, contrary to previous fears.

Instead, the activities of the previous operator Impriméries
réunies Lausanne (IRL), which joined Swissprinters in mid-2006 as the then Edipresse print shop, will be continued by a newly founded company called IRL+. IRL+ is managed by former Edipresse board member Michel Berney.

Strategic realignment of Tamedia

Tamedia had wanted to divest its magazine and customer printing operations as part of a strategic realignment, Zimmer explained. Where the magazine Femina, which belongs to the media group, will be printed in the future is still open. The magazine Bilan has always been printed by Stämpfli-Verlag in Bern.

Swissprinters was formed in 2005 from the merger of all the non-newspaper printing operations of Ringier and NZZ. Ringier previously held 58.8 percent of the shares, the NZZ 25.2 percent. (SDA)

SFLB: Simone Niggli staged for the World Orienteering Championships

For the World Orienteering Championships, SFLB helped Swiss Orienteering raise awareness of the event. Under the slogan «Legs with a Brain,» posters in German-speaking and French-speaking Switzerland featured Switzerland’s top orienteers in a distinctive pensive pose.

In addition, a TV commercial featuring the now 20-time orienteering world champion Simone Niggli-Luder made it clear that orienteers have special geographical skills - and not just in the forest, according to a press release.

The World Orienteering Championships were not only a success for the Swiss athletes (8 medals, 4 of which were gold): broadcasts of the orienteering competitions on Swiss television had a market share of up to 25 percent. And over 20,000 spectators watched the World Orienteering Championships in Lausanne.

Red Lion: Tailor-made for Hübscher

The Zurich agency Red Lion has created a motif specially tailored to the magazine Du for Hübscher.

The Hübscher family has been tailoring shirts, blouses, suits and ties for the Swiss for three generations. Red Lion took this fact as an opportunity to tailor an advertisement for Hübscher. The magazine Du was chosen because it appeals to people who are interested in culture and beauty, the agency said in a press release. The subject shows a symbolic realization of the creation of a Hübscher shirt, which is painted directly onto a naked upper body using body painting.

Responsible at Hübscher: Matthäus Hübscher. Responsible at Red Lion: Sacha Moser (CD), Nicolas Vontobel (Art Director ), Jan Krohn (Text), Charlotte Hottinger (Consulting).

Federal Administrative Court: License for TVO

After more than four years of legal disputes, it’s official: TVO, the Eastern Swiss television station owned by the NZZ Group, has been granted the license. Tele Säntis, however, is considering taking the case to Strasbourg.

Following today's ruling by the Federal Administrative Court, Eastern Switzerland Television (TVO) finally has a legally valid regional television license. The definitive license also entitles TVO to the full share of radio and television license fees for Eastern Switzerland as well as the obligation to expand its programming. As TVO writes in a press release, it is now working at full speed to change the news programs from five-day to seven-day operation and to make further program adjustments. However, the necessary technical and personnel expansion will take several months.

The Federal Administrative Court has thus definitively dismissed the appeal by competitor Günter Heuberger and his Tele Säntis (in formation). Heuberger was of the opinion that TVO was abusing a dominant market position. In their decision, the judges in St. Gallen referred to the Weko's expert opinion. The latter had taken the view that TVO and the NZZ Group (NZZ, St. Galler Tagblatt, Radio FM1, Tele Ostschweiz) in the
Eastern Switzerland only has a dominant position in the radio advertising market.

According to a press release from Tele Säntis, Günter Heuberger is now examining the appeal of the ruling to the European Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg for violation of Article 10 of the ECHR (freedom of expression).

Ogilvy & Mather: Helpbox campaign for Allianz

The latest TV commercial by Ogilvy & Mather for Allianz Suisse is intended to show how important a quick rescue is in the event of an accident.

Using three real-life situations, the spot dramatizes the various benefits of Helpbox, in direct relation to what drivers expect from their insurance, the agency writes in a statement.

The new spot will first run from mid-August to mid-September, a time when experience shows that motorists are most concerned with changing their insurance, the statement added. Allianz wants to set a clear, emotionally convincing tone in this environment. The TV appearance and the online campaign with its own Microsite are to ensure the appropriate support for an extensive sales offensive.
