iOS dominance continues, Android grows fastest

At 44.5%, most web visits are made on devices with the Apple iOS operating system. The increase since February 2016 is 8.8%. In second place, with a share of 27%, is Google Android, another operating system that is predominantly installed on mobile devices such as smartphones and tablets. The growth of 26.9% in the last two years is therefore the most significant. With a share of 22.4%, Microsoft Windows is in third place, having lost over 25% since February 2016. Apple's macOS operating system follows far behind in fourth place with a share of 5.5%. This corresponds to a decline of around 20 percent within two years.

All other operating systems account for less than one percent of web visits.

Further development

The growth of iOS and Android is likely to continue. In the foreseeable future, they will exceed a combined share of three quarters, as significantly less than a third (27.9%) of web visits are already made via a device with a Microsoft Windows or Apple macOS operating system.
