LinkedIn advertising revenue rises to 8.2 billion dollars
Microsoft's LinkedIn platform is experiencing strong growth in its advertising business. Advertising revenue of $8.2 billion is projected for 2025, driven by Gen AI companies and B2B creators. The platform reaches 350 million monthly active users.
Advertising business develops strongly
LinkedIn, the leading B2B marketing platform, is experiencing continuous growth in the advertising business. According to WARC Media, advertising revenue is expected to reach 8.2 billion dollars in 2025, an increase of 18.3 percent. Further growth to 9.7 billion dollars (+18.5%) is forecast for 2026, followed by 11.3 billion dollars (+16.2%) in 2027.
Generative AI drives growth
The proportion of the advertising budget spent by companies from the generative AI sector is particularly noteworthy. On average, they invest 12% of their digital advertising budget in LinkedIn - significantly more than the cross-industry average of 3%. The Microsoft network thus outperforms other medium-sized social media platforms such as Snapchat (6 billion dollars), Pinterest (4.2 billion dollars) and Reddit (2.2 billion dollars).
Range and use
LinkedIn's advertising offers reach around 350 million active users every month. Although this only corresponds to a portion of the 1.2 billion registered users, the LinkedIn Audience Network offers additional reach via publishers and third-party websites. The growing importance of B2B creators is also noteworthy: around 12% of content creators regularly publish content on LinkedIn.
Focus on video formats and connected TV
An important trend is the increasing use of video formats on LinkedIn, which recorded year-on-year growth of 12 percent. Emotional videos and short formats in particular are achieving high completion rates. LinkedIn is also expanding into the connected TV sector through partnerships with platforms such as NBCUniversal, Roku and Samsung.
"LinkedIn may only play a small role in Microsoft's overall revenue, but its advertising business is outperforming other mid-sized platforms," explains Celeste Huang, Media Insights Analyst at WARC Media and author of the report. "Premium subscriptions continue to grow, and efforts in B2B creator, video formats and CTV campaigns are paying off."
