Now there is something for the ears
The editorial by Werbewoche Editor-in-Chief Anne-Friederike Heinrich from issue 13/2017 of August 18, 2017.

Rarely has so much been written about hardly possible journalistic reporting - i.e. summer slump / pickle time - as in these summer months. Old journalist trick: If you don't know what to write about, you write about the fact that you don't know what to write about ... and thus fulfill the "minimum scope" requirement.
In Switzerland, meanwhile, even less than usual happened this summer (which we are usually glad about, and which is why Zurich is particularly great at this time of year); apart from the chainsaw amok runner in Schaffhausen, to whom we can express journalistic thanks at this point for the reporting material that filled two days after all. And thank God, every year you can always rely on August 1, where the same thing always happens, but at least with dignity.
The summer would have finally offered room for long-delayed background reports, captivating portraits, elaborate research and the question of what's in the bag - in short, for everything for which there is otherwise hardly any time in the daily editorial routine. Instead: Rankings and hot air. Too bad.
For us, the summer slump was just a camouflage. While it was also quiet around us on the outside, without a printed advertising week and newsletter, we worked diligently on the inside to present you, our loyal subscribers, with additional benefits. One of the results of our summer hole work can already be found in this issue: the advertising week for the ears, recognizable by the red headphones.
In our time and in our industry, hardly anyone has the time to read a print article in peace. People rush from here to there, racing from pillar to post, quickly reading the headlines of the ten newsletters they subscribe to or skimming through a 20 Minutes. At the same time, headphones are constantly plugged into the ears or the radio is on. And what comes out is increasingly rarely worth listening to.
Yet so much exciting stuff could go straight from your ears to your brain - specialist articles from Werbewoche, for example, expertly researched, written in a good and easy-to-understand way, and full of background information for your daily work.
That's why we now have the Werbewoche podcast: We bring you two topics to your ears per print edition, always one of our top stories and an opinion piece. In addition, we provide you with further exciting input to listen to on an ongoing basis via our website. So you can use your time more wisely again; during the train ride, in the car or on the plane, or wherever else you have your ears wide open.
The new Werbewoche podcasts are an additional service for our subscribers, which will be expanded if you like it. In addition, all our readers have the opportunity to listen in on Werbewoche for free until the end of this year. How does that sound to your ears? Nothing's happening in the summer, my ass!
