Since January 1, 2025, many private radio stations are no longer licensed and therefore no longer obliged to broadcast official warning messages. Nevertheless, 20 stations with a regional focus have decided to continue this task. The agreements were made with the associations Verband Schweizer Privatradios (VSP) and Radios régionales romandes (RRR). This ensures that the regional population will continue to receive timely and reliable information in crisis situations.
VSP Managing Director Peter Scheurer emphasizes: "It is very important to the regional radio stations that they continue to provide this emergency service for the population." The stations see the broadcasting of warning messages as an elementary part of their regional public service, Scheurer continues.
Support from federal agencies
The Federal Office for Civil Protection FOCP and the Federal Office of Communications OFCOM welcome the initiative. The FOCP will continue to provide the technical infrastructure and disseminate the messages via the existing Alertswiss NewsML alert system.
This voluntary commitment will ensure that the population is warned throughout the country - supplemented by the 15 licensed regional radio stations. The private radio stations will draw attention to the importance of the alarm system as early as February 5, 2025 as part of the annual siren test.
The regional radio stations Energy Basel, Energy Bern, Energy St. Gallen, Energy Lucerne, Energy Zurich, LFM, One FM, Radio 1, Radio 24, Radio 32, Radio Argovia, Radio Basilisk, Radio Bern1, Radio FM1, Radio Lac, Radio Pilatus, Radio Top, Radio Zürisee, Rouge FM and Sunshine Radio have signed the agreement.

Tuesday’s event hosted by the Electronic Media Interest Group (Igem) in Zurich focused entirely on the topic «Moving Images Beyond TV.» Four presentations highlighted the latest trends and innovations in video advertising on and around television. Alexander Duphorn from Goldbach Media opened the fully booked event as a member of the Igem board and emphasized the growing importance of "moving images beyond TV". Four experts then presented key findings and concrete implementations.
Michel Alraun from Maybaum Film spoke about creative principles for developing and producing content. His central message was that the best content is worth nothing if it is not seen. It is therefore crucial in future that the media world works even more closely with the creative industry to get the best out of campaigns.
Nico Keramaris from Wirz used the example of Graubünden's "Naturmetropole" location promotion campaign to show how ambitious customer goals can be achieved with a limited media budget and a clever combination of different moving image channels.
Sandra Fehr from Nova Impact emphasized the importance of an all-screen strategy for video advertising. Big screens such as TV and connected TV (CTV) ensure a high level of attention. But if you want to be successful in moving image planning, you have to take all devices, target groups and campaign objectives into account from the outset. A consistent all-screen strategy is the key to exploiting the full potential of TV, CTV, streaming & co. and thus achieving successful campaigns in the long term.
In addition, Sanja Ruggiero from Goldbach explained how Connected TV (CTV) has developed from a niche offering to a significant medium on a par with TV. CTV offers numerous advantages from the viewer's perspective. It also addresses the needs of the young streaming generation. As a result, CTV is becoming a relevant channel for generating purchasing impulses.
On the panel chaired by Alexander Duphorn, Andrea Haemmerli from Seven. One Entertainment Group Switzerland, Scott Little from Google Switzerland, Thomas Rajman from Blue Entertainment and Ute von Moers from CH Media discussed Swiss streaming platforms. The focus was on the different strategies and business models of Oneplus, Joyn, Blue and YouTube on the viewer and advertising market. In addition to paid subscriptions, all of these streaming providers also offer free, ad-financed streaming options. While Joyn and YouTube primarily rely on advertising financing, Blue and Oneplus focus on paying subscribers.
Igem board member Sandra Fehr, who co-organized the event, draws a positive conclusion: "The well-attended event underlines the growing importance of moving image advertising, especially on the big screen. Uniform standards and further research are crucial in order to exploit the full potential. Igem will continue to make its contribution to this by prominently including moving images in all their forms in the Digimonitor study."
Alexander Duphorn is also pleased about the lively interest in the fully booked event: "This underlines the great importance of moving images for our members. Hardly any other form of advertising is developing as dynamically as video advertising. We will meet this demand with further events and training courses."

Open Circle relies on open source technologies and offers secure data storage in Switzerland with the Swiss Business Cloud. The aim is to offer customers an alternative to international IT groups and to enable digital independence through knowledge transfer.
Brand presence with clear differentiation
Dachcom has placed the topic of "digital sovereignty" at the center of its new brand strategy. The key message "Welcome to digital independence" underlines this claim. The brand identity is complemented by a black-and-white image world with ballet dancers symbolizing independence and freedom, which is atypical for the industry.
Visual and content realignment
The brand itself has also been redesigned for the new look. The revised logo combines the initials "O" and "C" as an open circular shape. In terms of color, red and blue accents contrast with the monochrome imagery. The new brand identity is consistently implemented across the website, business equipment, sales documents and the design of the offices.
