At the online print shop, customers can purchase just about anything in very small quantities (up to around 300 copies) using digital printing - from posters, greeting cards, brochures and flyers to calendars. For calendars, Saxoprint offers a special design tool, the calendar designer, where the customer can choose between different templates/designs and just uploads his photos and possibly the company logo. A calendar with the most important holidays is already included in the template. This is a very popular product, especially in the run-up to Christmas. In addition, since February 2012 Saxoprint has belonged to CEWE COLORthe leading photo service provider in Europe. The advantage of digital printing is clearly the formless production process," says Fanny Loitsch of Saxoprint. "No printing plates have to be produced, which makes for a very cost-effective and fast printing process for short runs." On the production side, she says the advantage is the slightly "easier" operation of the digital press compared to an offset press. According to Loitsch, however, the digital printing process is not appropriate for runs of around 300 to 500 or more because of the higher costs and longer printing time. The full article as PDF with voices from other print companies: Special Issue Document Management & Digital Printing 2013
