Simonhofer Creative designed the voting poster against the Ozeanium in Basel

In collaboration with the Fondation Franz Weber, Creative Director Simon Hofer developed the concept for the «No to the Ozeanium» poster as part of the referendum campaign against the planned large seawater aquarium in Basel.

The successful referendum prevented a project for which thousands of protected animals would have been torn away from their natural habitat. The Fondation Franz Weber fought for ten years against the project initiated by Basel Zoo. The result of the referendum was sensationally clear with 54.56 percent of votes against and is celebrated worldwide as a sign against large aquariums and in favor of marine conservation.

The first Swiss sports matching app "Match4Sport" is live

«Match4Sport,» the first Swiss sports-matching app, is now live for Android and iOS. The sports promotion platform is designed to connect people with shared athletic interests and similar skill levels.

Medienmitteilung_Match4Sport-1

Match4Sport appeals not only to target groups such as expats, commuters, newcomers or singles, but to anyone who is open to new sports and partners. From American football to Zumba, people of all ages can choose from over 140 sports and activities. The free and ad-free app was also developed in collaboration with national sports federations.

In addition to the matching idea, the sports promotion platform is also intended to offer the smaller sports a low-threshold and digital entry option for people interested in their sport. In curling, for example, every club and every curling hall are already covered. "For a sport like curling, such an offer is of course ideal, so that our clubs can attract new members and present taster offers," explains Marc Pfister, CEO of Swiss Curling. This in particular also sets Match4Sport apart from the already existing clutch or leisure apps.

After registering, users enter their preferred sports and performance levels and can then search and match the right partner by region, gender or age. To enable users to find the nearest venue or club quickly and easily after a match, the first sports, locations and clubs can be called up in the Club and Location Finder.

In the coming weeks and months, the app will be continuously expanded. For associations and clubs as well as sports infrastructures and users, further features and locations will be developed and integrated step by step.

Match4Sport is a joint product of the two agencies Newcom Solutions from Muri-Gümligen and FairMatch Sports Marketing Bern and Zurich.

Pepsi Max challenges Coca-Cola Zero to a taste duel

Pepsi Max is putting all its eggs in one basket and is locked in a neck-and-neck race with the best-selling sugar-free competitor product in Switzerland in the «Pepsi Max Taste Challenge 2019.».

pepsi-taste-challenge

Pepsi Max is challenging cola fans to put their taste to the test and decide in blind tastings which of the two leading sugar-free cola brands tastes best. At events throughout Switzerland, for example at the Open Air Gampel or in Zurich's city center, participants are given two identical-looking cups of sugar-free cola and can give their taste judgment directly.

Pepsi first called for the "Taste Challenge" back in 1970 - in 2018, Pepsi Max then brought the Challenge back to eleven European countries. After last year's success, Pepsi Max is now making the "Taste Challenge 2019" even bigger - with sampling events in Switzerland's biggest cities, the aim is to generate more than 50,000 taste contacts again this summer.

"With this year's Pepsi Max Taste Challenge, we will once again challenge possible preconceptions about which cola tastes better and surprise those who discover their new favorite cola with Pepsi Max. We are confident that we will inspire even more people with our taste," Mark Kirkham, Head of Marketing and Innovation, PepsiCo West Europe Beverages, said in a statement.

The live events are supported by a high-reach 360-degree campaign with digital activation at TV level with 30 million contacts.

Visitors to the Greenfield Festival in Interlaken were able to experience a foretaste of the "Taste Challenge" and be the first to test which sugar-free cola tastes better to them. From August 9, the "Pepsi Max Taste Challenge" starts in Geneva and tours from there throughout Switzerland.

New Basel online medium takes shape as "Bajour

A new online publication in Basel, previously announced, is slowly taking shape under the name Bajour. An office has been in operation since the beginning of the month. Four journalists have been hired, and the publication’s first in-house panel discussion will be held in a week. The online publication, which is free to read, is funded by a foundation.

bajour

The logo of the new Basel online medium Bajour. According to BZ it is said to have been created by Hinderling Volkart.

After the end for the Basler Daily News last November, the regional media landscape remains in motion. Announced in February and headed up by Hansi Voigt (ex-20 minutes) and Matthias Zehnder (Ex-BZ), the new online medium is now taking on its first recognizable contours.

Manuel Bertschi, president of the association Medienzukunft as a sponsor, outlined organizational, personnel and financial key data in an interview with Persönlich.com tweeted on Tuesday. He himself is a lawyer at the Kellerhals Carrard law firm.

Known names

Since August 1, the editorial and management teams have been working in their own office in Basel's Markthalle. It is precisely there that a panel discussion on the subject of school education is announced next Tuesday, behind which the new medium stands. With the first own event the name becomes public: "Bajour", which alludes to Basel and "à jour".

The permanent editorial team currently consists of four people, all with experience in regional journalism, namely at Daily News and BZ BaselNaomi Gregoris, Andrea Fopp, Daniel Faulhaber and Samuel Hufschmid. Martina Rutschmann is also mandated for podiums. According to Bertschi, the team will grow.

The managing director is Sabrina Oberländer, previously Head of Communications Public Exhibitions Basel at the MCH Group. She was the spokesperson for the once nationally relevant Muba, which saw its derniere in February. The focus of Bajour meanwhile, is regional but cross-border, hence the French appeal.

Hope for state funds

As a cooperation partner, Bertschi names the FCB magazine Red blue and the science magazine Higgs.ch. The basis for this is the nonprofit platform Wepublish, which will soon be used to exchange and curate content in a technically simple way. Hansi Voigt is also involved in this project: He initiated it.

The conspicuously inconspicuous appearance of Bajour contrasts with the hype surrounding other media projects. According to Bertschi, the ball is being kept emphatically flat in order to keep the pressure of expectations within bounds. There is no fixed start date; the project is beginning fluidly - even the website is not yet ready. In the course of the fall," he says, "things will get underway.

Take your time Bajour thanks to start-up funding from the Foundation for Media Diversity, which will support the project over the next three years with a cost ceiling of one million francs per year. These funds ultimately come from the former Daily News-patron Beatrice Oeri.

The new medium is to survive free of advertising thanks to further foundations and member contributions from the Medienzukunft association. "In the longer term" hopes Bajour according to Bertschi, on the state, on "public funding. The realization is spreading that online media should also be supported directly, but a legal basis must first be created for this. "Until that happens, foundation funding will serve as a stopgap. Melanie Winiger has a new guy

The Zurich-based e-mobility startup Juicar launches the first campaign to promote its electric car by subscription. With Melanie Winiger as actress, the subsidiary of Alpiq gets prominent support. The concept was developed by Zurich-based conceptual designer and creative director Patrick Mueller, and the spot was produced by Eqal Visual Productions.

Juicar - Mis Elektroauto im Abo - Melanie Winiger

If Melanie Winiger had a new boyfriend in the past, you didn't hear much about it in public. Because unlike other celebrities, the presenter and actress very rarely revealed anything beyond her professional work, despite public interest. Now Winiger has a new one again and for once - or for the first time ever - she is now talking about it in public. In four languages, in a newly launched campaign.

Melanie's new guy is called Juicar, comes from Zurich and is ... a car; more precisely, an electric car by subscription. After a Frenchman, an Italian, a German and two Americans, she has arrived, found the perfect mobility solution for her and is now all electric.

The electric car by subscription

Zurich-based e-mobility startup Juicar is now launching the first campaign to promote its electric car subscription service. The goal is to generate awareness for Switzerland's first all-electric mobility subscription. With Melanie Winiger as the actress, Juicar is getting celebrity support. The former Miss Switzerland has long stood for a sustainable lifestyle and fits the brand accordingly.

Juicar's credo: everyone should be able to have an electric car and their own charging station on their doorstep - without obligation or financial risk. Juicar offers an entry into electromobility with various subscriptions that are tailored to the customer's needs. Juicar is a startup of the energy service provider Alpiq.

The idea and concept came from Zurich-based conceptual designer and creative director Patrick Mueller. The spot was realized by Eqal Visual Productions.

Facebook Messenger soon with targeted advertising

Social media giant Facebook wants to place targeted ads within chats on its messaging app Facebook Messenger. A newly published patent from the company stipulates that the application will use both location data and the content of private messages to create personalized ads.

facebook-messenger-keyboard

"If this content is read and analyzed, companies can use our private lives for analysis and profiling. This is particularly serious when, for example, health status is determined from personal messages. It's not just a matter of getting better advertising, but of losing control over our own lives," warns data protection expert Georg Markus Kainz of the Quintessenz association.

Until now, ads were only possible in the main menu of Facebook Messenger, but the patent describes how they could now also appear within private conversations. For example, based on users' location data as well as content from their chats, the app would push personalized ads between messages as a plug-in. For example, if a user mentions the Grand Canyon in a message, an ad for postcards of the sight could pop up. If a user is at the Grand Canyon, Messenger could see that and send corresponding ads as well.

Patent indicates future plans

The patent was filed four years ago, according to a "Mashable" report, but only now made public. In May 2019, the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office granted the patent application. However, a Facebook spokesperson said there are currently no plans to actually implement the idea. "We often seek patents for technologies we never use. Patent applications should not be seen as an indication of future plans," it said.

Kainz is not convinced by this statement: "The mere fact that Facebook is thinking of implementing this measure shows that it is in their product ideas. You shouldn't think they won't do it just because they haven't done it so far." Right now, Facebook is under pressure from the public debate, he said. However, if the public stopped paying attention to Facebook and its privacy settings, the social media giant could use the opportunity to place ads in chats after all. (pte)

Farner implements marketing campaign for Hamburgpark Menziken

On behalf of the residential developer Leven Property, Farner St. Gallen has launched an integrated marketing campaign designed to boost sales of 44 new condominiums in Aargau.

Menziken_181218_01_Preiswert

In order to stand out in the highly competitive real estate market and effectively market new construction projects, residential developers need to carve out a meaningful unique selling point. Leven Property, which is building the "Hamburgpark" residential development in Menziken with 87 residential units for sale and rent, also faced this challenge.

The advantages of the "Hamburgpark" are expressed, for example, in the refined architecture and the sustainable and ecological construction method. Farner St.Gallen combines these and other advantages in a multiple selling proposition as the focus of an integrated marketing campaign for the "Hamburgpark".

Integrated marketing campaign with four differentiated messages

With an unconventional campaign, the apartments are advertised in a striking and surprising way as sustainable, cozy, cool and affordable apartments. This creates a clear differentiation from the competition. The messages attract the attention of defined target groups such as families, singles, senior citizens and couples aged between 30 and 65.

The integrated campaign with posters in the region in and around Menziken and in Badis, ePanels in shopping centers, Google Ads and publicity reports direct potential buyers to one of four landing pages. After completing the online contact form, the sale can literally be wrapped up: Interested parties receive an A2 poster by post with the most important information as well as a tea towel with the matching campaign subject. After these contact points, people are contacted by telephone to arrange a personal consultation.

The campaign runs from August 5 to 18, 2019.
