Rod dramatizes the security building block for Baloise

In late 2012, Rod won a pitch against two other agencies. The task was to build on the proven concept by continuing to feature the eye-catching black-and-yellow safety module.

Rod's first work is now available. In the TV commercials "Grandmother" and "Magician", the security module plays an active role, dramatizing the leitmotif "We make you safer". Both spots are out now.

News Aktuell is looking for the best PR picture

The SDA subsidiary New Aktuell is once again searching for the best PR photo of the past twelve months in 2013. For the first time this year, there will be a separate “PR Photo of the Year” award for Switzerland, Germany, and Austria.

News Aktuell and its partners APA-OTS and News Aktuell Deutschland, together with the magazine Persönlich, thus want to reflect the cultural characteristics of the respective country in visual communication. "In the digital age, attention is a high commodity. PR departments and communicators create resonance through strong images and original motifs. The visual component of a message ensures that the message is remembered. We're looking forward to seeing great photos and awarding prizes to the best work from the communications industry with the PR Image Award," says Frank Stadthoewer, Managing Director of News Aktuell Germany.

PR experts from Switzerland, Germany and Austria have until June 14 to apply for the PR Image Award 2013. The competition is aimed at companies, organizations and agencies and is being held for the eighth time this year. At Pr-picture-award.ch applicants can upload as many photos as they wish. The prerequisite for the application is that they have used the images for media work or communication in the past twelve months.

Last year, more than 500 companies took part in the PR Image Award and submitted a total of more than 1'500 images. In the current competition, the categories are Corporate Communications, Event and Trade Fair, Product Photo, Portrait and NGO Photo. This year, there is also a special category for tourism and leisure. According to a statement, News Aktuell wants to take into account the importance of the tourism and leisure industry in the entire DACH region.

After the submission phase, an international jury selects the shortlist of 60 images from all the applications. Subsequently, PR professionals and media representatives vote in a public poll to select the best PR image of 2013 as well as six category winners. News Aktuell will announce the winners in October.

Last but not least: "Uepaa!" at Swisscom

Uepaa is an off-grid smartphone solution for locating alpine athletes involved in accidents. Swisscom is supporting the ETH spin-off Uepaa Swiss Alpine Technologies with its marketing efforts.

The startup Uepaa has developed a safety service for people who spend their leisure time and sporting activities in the mountains. The alarm app locates accident victims via other smartphones in the vicinity, even in areas without mobile phone coverage. This is made possible by peer-to-peer technology, which links the smartphones of all Uepaa users and rescuers to form an ad hoc network that automatically searches for the nearest cellular network. In an emergency, the mountain rescue service is alerted independently of the network, and overflight searches are also possible. However, the Uepaa rescue service is already effective at an earlier stage: missing person reports or time-consuming searches for people are also to be significantly reduced in future via the tracking system of the emergency call app, which enables timely alerts and direct assistance from fellow rescuers.

The Uepaa app is available to download from the Apple App Store and Google Play Store in time for the 2013 hiking season. The range of functions is constantly being expanded, starting with automatic accident detection and extended companion assistance.

The company Uepaa was founded on January 31, 2012 by Mathias Haussmann and Franck Legendre in Zurich. (uma)

Advertising city: campaign for Radio Life Channel

Werbestadt has created a campaign for ERF-Medien's Radio Life Channel. The goal is to generate interest and introduce the medium to a new potential audience.

ERF Media, based in Pfäffikon, explicitly requested series of advertisements and posters, which can be expanded over the coming months with additional subjects and slogans, according to a statement. In the first series, three clichés are to be addressed in a tongue-in-cheek manner, which will be broken up with Radio Life Channel: For example, a short, concise statement makes it clear why young people spend the evening back at home.

The follow-up series shows why open-air fans or churchgoers now no longer have to wait, but can get their money's worth around the clock every day. Both poster series rely on sparingly used, meaningful text.

Responsible at ERF Media: Verena Birchler, Communications Manager. Responsible at advertising city: Nicolas Kesper (idea and text), Eva Kesper-Wegelin (graphic design).

Alpha 245: Exhibition stand for Goldbach Audience

At the fifth Swiss Online Marketing Fair, Alpha 245 designed a stand for Goldbach Audience that was constantly changing and presented different target groups.

The trade fair stand also served as a stage for two actors who were instructed by the trade fair visitors by vote to portray a desired target group - with the inclusion of electronic media. Appropriate wallpaper was installed in the separate room, which was also part of the stand, until the staid living room of a senior couple, the chaotic children's room of a young family or the dress paradise of a young lady was brought to life. The aim was to show trade fair visitors that Goldbach Audience can reach any target group - via any electronic device.

Responsible at Goldbach Audience: Tanja Kretz (Marketing&Communication Manager) Nina Hoss (Marketing&Communication Manager), Germaine Müller (Corporate Manager IR & Events. Responsible at Alpha 245: Diana Rossi (creative direction/text), Kathia Le Bescont, Hekuran Advili (art direction, illustration), Andrea Staub (consulting); X-OPIA (stand construction).
