Sale of Publicitas leads to legal repercussions

The German private equity firm Aurelius is suing Swisscom. The case stems from a dispute over the sale of Publicitas.

In June 2014, Aurelius had acquired Publicitas from its parent company Publigroupe (Werbewoche.ch reported). Then, at the beginning of 2015, Publicitas lost an important customer: The NZZ had decided to carry out its advertising sales on its own from then on (Werbewoche.ch reported). Aurelius, the new owner of Publicitas, is apparently still upset about this. It complains that it was not sufficiently informed about the imminent loss of NZZ as a customer during the takeover.

Lawsuits filed against Swisscom

The accusation is directed at Swisscom. This is because the telecoms group took over the parent company Publigroupe in September 2014, shortly after the Publicitas subsidiary was bought by Aurelius. The case must now be dealt with by the Zurich Commercial Court. Swisscom confirmed to news agency SDA on Wednesday a report in the newspaper Finanz und Wirtschaft. According to the report, Aurelius has filed several lawsuits against Swisscom. In addition to the alleged lack of information in the case of NZZ, it is also about the different opinion regarding valuations of individual balance sheet items. Apparently, Aurelius is demanding more in accounting terms than was agreed before the purchase.

Swisscom also demands money

For its part, Swisscom is also making claims against Aurelius. This relates to the bankruptcy of the logistics service provider Xentive. Xentive, in which Publicitas held a minority stake, was also the subject of the transaction to Aurelius in 2014. According to Finanz und Wirtschaft, the financial damage of the bankruptcy was not borne by Aurelius at the time, but by Publigroupe, and thus indirectly by its new owner Swisscom. Publigroupe had waived claims against Xentive and written off the money, while Aurelius had taken over a debt-free balance sheet.

With reference to the ongoing proceedings, Swisscom did not want to comment further to SDA. Aurelius is also keeping a low profile. On request, it said that it does not comment on ongoing proceedings. (SDA)

Serviceplan: UBS becomes a mountain railroad

This summer marks the seventh year of the partnership between UBS and Switzerland Tourism. Starting now, UBS customers can take a train or gondola ride up 35 mountains for just ten francs each. The campaign was implemented by Serviceplan Suisse.

Serviceplan Suisse is turning UBS into a mountain railroad - or rather all the advertising media surrounding the major mountain campaign. Whether TV commercials, special posters, megaposters, advertisements or digital implementations: Everything is slanted and red like a mountain railroad. And everything goes up. "We wanted to create an attractive and simple offer for our customers this summer that can be communicated just as simply, surprisingly and strikingly," says Daniel Fischer, Head of Marketing UBS Switzerland. Pam Hügli, Managing Director of Serviceplan Suisse, adds: "We focused all our attention on finding or creating advertising platforms that are as quirky as possible - in the truest sense of the word".

The customer campaign, which was conceived together with Switzerland Tourism and the 35 participating railroads, is valid until the end of October and will be communicated over several waves. The focus is also on UBS's own communication platforms and around 300 branches. Door and elevator stickers, counter displays, POS chutes, e-screens and ATMs are all dedicated to the mountain campaign. So, of course, is the information booklet with tips and tricks for an unforgettable excursion.

The live streaming banners offer additional added value: in good mountain weather, the current panorama of the participating cable cars can be followed live. Link to the banner

There are also little things to discover during the big UBS mountain campaign: for example, a miniature installation "drives" from one poster site to another, drawing attention to the campaign in a funny way.

Corpmedia: Strategic competence expanded

Effective July 1, Donatus Grütter will join the storytelling agency Corpmedia as Director of Strategy and Consulting. A graduate in Communication Management (EMScom) and a certified communicator (FH, ZHAW-IAM), he will strengthen Corpmedia’s strategy team.

Donatus_Gruetter

This clearly sharpens the agency's positioning: cross-disciplinary, visual storytelling with a focus on digital is at the center. With Grütter, Corpmedia is bringing on board a communications expert with extensive experience in public relations and communications management. After holding positions as head of communications in the Swiss automotive industry (Volkswagen and Mercedes-Benz), the 36-year-old most recently gained experience on the agency side in the luxury consumer goods segment and increasingly specialized in strategic consulting and the digital sector.

Strategy consulting at the top, production experience at the core

The addition of Grütter goes hand in hand with the consistent expansion of Corpmedia's services over the years: The storytelling expertise is based on ten years of production experience in film and animation. After the reinforcement by Michael Schär (Director Digital), Corpmedia increasingly specialized in the digital distribution of content as well. Building on this, strategic consulting now follows. The Corpmedia portfolio thus extends from the realization of visual communication at project level to strategic brand consulting. In doing so, Corpmedia consistently focuses on visual storytelling and the digital distribution of content.
