German Agency Association reprimands Wiesenhof
A public relations disaster for German poultry producer Wiesenhof: A tasteless commercial featuring comedian Atze Schröder has sparked a massive backlash—and earned the company a reprimand from the advertising agency association GWA.

The commercial was supposed to be funny, but it has now backfired on Wiesenhof. The company keeps making headlines over animal welfare issues and is also controversial in Switzerland: In 2011, Coop and Migros pulled Wiesenhof products from their shelves as Response to a «Kassensturz» segment, which exposed the scandalous production conditions, from its product lineup. Now Wiesenhof is causing outrage once again—this time due to a communications blunder. In the YouTube ad in question, comedian Atze Schröder comments on the length of the advertised bratwurst, saying, «After that, Gina and Lisa are going to need some trauma therapy.»

A reference to Gina-Lisa Lohfink, who is currently fighting in court against allegations that she falsely accused someone of rape. In 2012, two men released a sex video featuring Lohfink after a night of partying. Although they were convicted of this offense, they were acquitted of the rape charge. In turn, they demanded 24,000 euros in damages from the former «Germany’s Next Top Model» contestant for false accusation. Lohfink is now challenging this penalty order in court. The case has sparked a public debate in Germany (and to some extent in Switzerland) about sexual criminal law and the rights of victims.

According to the video, W&V, or rather, NDR filmed it last year and released it in March 2016. Gina-Lisa Lohfink had already spoken about her case in January 2016.
In its initial response to the public outcry, Wiesenhof took the ad down, apologized, and admitted that the video should not have been released «against the backdrop of the coverage surrounding Lohfink.» Of course, by that point it was already far too late to avert the backlash. Even the Bundesliga club SV Werder Bremen sharply criticized its own jersey sponsor on Saturday.
# Wiesenhof – That commercial was way off the mark! An admission of fault and an apology were urgently needed. https://t.co/whHOG7WCaL
— SV Werder Bremen (@werderbremen) June 25, 2016
The soccer club itself is falling out of favor with its own fans since the sponsorship deal was announced In 2012, Werder Bremen faced repeated criticism for its partnership with Wiesenhof. The contract was renewed in 2014, and in 2017, Werder Bremen began searching for a new main sponsor. In response to the current advertising scandal, Werder ambassador Jan Delay has resigned from his position as the club’s ambassador.
ey @werderbremen , you must act immediately! If nothing happens, I will resign from my post as ambassador! #wiesenhof #AtzeSchroeder
— eizi eiz (@jan_delay) June 25, 2016
Now the German Advertising Agencies Association (GWA) has also weighed in on Wiesenhof’s failed advertising stunt—in no uncertain terms. «Anyone who commissions and produces such commercials doesn’t understand the first thing about branding or proper corporate governance. This applies equally to clients and agencies,» commented GWA President Wolf-Ingomar Faecks.
By the way, lead actor Atze Schröder had already apologized on Saturday. On Facebook, he expressed deep shame over the incident: «The commercial was filmed a year ago and should never have been released. Especially not now, when it draws a connection that is disgusting and was never intended.» He is donating 20,000 euros to the organization Roterkeil.net, which campaigns against child prostitution. BBDO London shows what James Blunt and other celebrities would do with a lottery win. Better yet, win one yourself.

The campaign created by BBDO was launched last year. It's not entirely clear why millionaire celebrities in particular should have to rely on winning the lottery to put their bizarre ideas into practice. But hey - it's James Blunt. And hey - it doesn't really matter, because the movies are definitely funny. Even the one with "bosom wonder" and entrepreneur Katie Price, who also puts in a remarkable acting performance - here in the two-minute Extendet version. She invests her million-dollar winnings in her own TV station, which shows only Katie Price content for 24 hours:
Reporter and former CNN anchor Piers Morgan wants to memorialize himself with his own pier - "Piers' Pier."
British interior designer and TV star Laurence Llewelyn Bowen sees an urgent need to give Stonehenge a radical makeover.
And Noel Edmonds, host of the U.K.'s Deal or No Deal, has the brilliant idea of legally protecting the concept of the house party and subsequently intervening when private parties are held somewhere. (hae)
APG|SGA sells Basel property
APG|SGA has sold the property at Hardstrasse 43 in Basel. The sale is expected to have an impact of CHF 18 million on the net result.

Due to urban development, the company's commercial property at Hardstrasse 43 in Basel is increasingly located in a sought-after residential area and is therefore suboptimal for the operational business, according to the statement. For this reason, APG|SGA decided at the beginning of the year to sell this property within the framework of a bidding process and was thus able to arouse great interest among potential buyers.
This sales process has now been completed with the conclusion of a sales agreement for the property. The transfer is scheduled for June 30, 2016. The sale is expected to have a positive impact on the net result of APG|SGA in the order of approximately CHF 18 million. This amount consists of the sales price less book value and taxes and transaction expenses. For the time being, all units of APG|SGA Basel will remain rented at Hardstrasse.

Digital donation platform for certified Swiss relief organizations
The Zewo certification body, the Swissfundraising professional association, and Swisscom are launching a digital donation platform for Switzerland. Starting Monday, 15 charitable organizations will showcase their projects on the Letshelp.ch platform.

The aim of Letshelp.ch is to enable aid organizations to present campaigns online to a large audience effectively and easily without having to worry about platform maintenance or administrative processes. This was announced on Monday by the telecommunications company Swisscom, the Swiss certification body for charitable fundraising organizations (Zewo) and the professional association of fundraisers in Switzerland (Swissfundraising).
The platform is intended to provide donors with an overview of the numerous donation projects. According to the press release, donors should be given access to specific projects from trustworthy and regularly monitored aid organizations on the platform. In the first phase, only aid organizations that have a Zewo seal of approval will be allowed to participate. At a later stage, other aid organizations will also be able to be checked for compliance with Zewo standards. Swisscom developed and operates the donation platform. For the donations collected Letshelp.ch The donors pay a fee from the aid organizations to cover the operating costs. For donors, access costs nothing. (SDA)
Cannes Lions: Film bronze for Ruf Lanz and FCB Zurich at the end
At the close of the 2016 Cannes Lions Festival of Creativity, Swiss agencies Ruf Lanz and FCB Zurich struck again, winning bronze in the premier category of Film.

Ruf Lanz wins in the film category "Entertainment & Leisure" with the spot "Second Chance" a bronze Lion. The owner-managed agency thus manages the feat of achieving a complete success with its only film submission. In the spot, Ruf Lanz shows for the Museum Haus Konstruktiv that the very first experience with circles, triangles and squares is difficult. And that constructive shapes therefore deserve a second chance. The spot was filmed with a specially prepared camera directly from a shape sorting game, with a toddler in the leading role. Ruf Lanz is the fourth Swiss agency to win a Lion at this year's Cannes Lions.
At the end of an almost perfect festival, FCB Zurich crowns its outstanding performance on the Côte d'Azur with a film bronze. In the film category "Use of Online Film", the agency secured its sixth Lion with the campaign "Search Racism. Find Truth" campaign, the agency won its sixth Lion under the creative direction of Werbewoche Advertiser of the Year finalist Dennis Lück. He leaves FCB mid-year for Jung von Matt (Werbewoche.ch reported) and leaves behind at the Heinrichstrasse a well-stocked trophy cabinet. FCB Zurich succeeded in winning several lions with two campaigns at once. The gang bingo for HC Davos won three silver medals, and the YouTube campaign "Search Racism. Find Truth" campaign won the agency not only silver but also three bronze medals.
The Grand Prix at the Film Lions was won by the Adam&Eve DDB London agency with the Longfinger campaign (presented in the "Last but not least" from 13.7.2015).
Even if the Swiss agencies were denied the golden total success this year: They start their journey home with an excellent total result of eleven lions. A comeback of the German-speaking Swiss agencies, who last year were unable to win a single award. And it's already clear that the battle for the top of the Werbewoche creative rankings this year - in contrast to the Saatchi & Saatchi-dominated 2015 - is really exciting again. After Cannes, FCB Zurich is another agency that wants to have a say in the battle for the top spots. (hae)

Last but not least: Chameleon on four wheels
The Blackbird vehicle can be retrofitted to take on the appearance of any car. It was developed for the advertising and film industries.

The Mill Blackbird thus makes it possible, for example, to shoot a commercial for a car that does not yet exist. Or a commercial can be "updated" if the car shown changes or a special option is to be presented. Different versions of a film for different countries? No problem. Films can show cars that are too expensive or too rare to be used in real life. In contrast to pure computer animation, with the Blackbird the image is prepared ready to go: The shadows on the ground and all the traces left by a car are already correct and do not have to be calculated into the image afterwards. 360-degree cameras record the environment, create a virtual version from it and adjust the car body to be inserted to all environmental influences. Spot advertising: New appearance for Pontresina Tourism
The St. Moritz-based communications agency Spot Werbung has developed the new website for Pontresina Tourism. Storytelling and a magazine-style design are the hallmarks of the new website.

Spot Werbung conceived, designed, programmed and edited the new Pontresina Tourism website. The result is a magazine-like brand site that scores with independent texts: for example, locals tell the advantages of a vacation in Pontresina. All other content has been written according to journalistic criteria. The usual tourism phrases were deliberately avoided. On the home page Pontresina.ch with seamlessly integrated moving images the top trend in digital communication. And thus underlines the positioning of Pontresina in line with the brand. Thanks to the programming in Responsive Design, the website is displayed on smartphones and tablets adapted to the respective screen size.

Strebel Juon: French flair with the relaunch of Bistrot chez Marion
Strebel Juon was commissioned with the conception and realization of a new corporate design and website for Bistrot chez Marion.

The "Marion" is a traditional restaurant in the heart of Zurich's old town, located directly on Zähringerplatz. After extensive renovations in spring 2014, the restaurant reopened as "Bistrot chez Marion" and has since dedicated itself entirely to French cuisine. The menu includes all kinds of specialties from various regions of the "Republique", from salade niçoise, crêpes and galettes or croques madame or monsieur to entrecôte café de Paris. The classic bistrot is complemented by a "kiosque", where homemade delicacies are sold over the counter to take away.

The original lettering was to be retained in the new look and an interesting and easy-to-use packaging concept was to be realized, especially for the take-away sector.
The aim of the designers was to convey the personal character of the restaurant, the bistro ambience and the maxim "fait à la maison" through the look of the advertising material. The name was therefore set in hand-drawn circles, with different graphic elements in a total of nine variations. This also gives the labeled, in-house products an individual touch. In terms of color, the bordeaux used in the interior was picked up again, supplemented with a striped design to underline the bistro charm.

For the take-away packaging, tags and stickers were produced in various sizes, supplemented with matching masking tape, which also acts as adhesive tape when the containers are closed.

The new look was adapted to a wide range of advertising materials: From the letterheads, the Réservé signs and the food and drink menus to the matchboxes and the website Chezmarion.ch.

I would like to thank the founders in particular for the professional handover of responsibility to the new management team led by Benoit Henry, which has now been completed with their resignation from the Board of Directors."
WS sends EBL on interactive bus tour
WS Kommunikation, serving as the lead agency for EBL—an energy and telecommunications service provider based in Basel-Landschaft that operates throughout Switzerland—designed and implemented the communications strategy for the company’s current seasonal telecommunications promotion.

The bilingual live marketing tour and the accompanying cross-media campaign run under the motto "EBL On Tour". The star of the campaign and visual figurehead is the company's own VW bus, built in 1974 and designed in the EBL CD. Ticino publisher Salvioni elected to the SDA Board of Directors
The Ticino publisher Giacomo Salvioni is a new member of the Board of Directors of the Swiss Dispatch Agency (SDA). This means that Ticino is once again present on the SDA supervisory board after many years.

The shareholders of SDA AG elected Salvioni to the Board of Directors on Wednesday at the General Meeting. Salvioni is, among other things, publisher of La Regione, co-editor of the commuter newspaper 20 minuti and president of the Ticino publishers' association Stampa Svizzera. The shareholders also unanimously confirmed Chairman of the Board Hans Heinrich Coninx and the seven incumbent Board members in their positions for another year. The SDA Board of Directors now has nine members (previously eight).
Integration of the Si
SDA, Switzerland's national news agency, looks back on a historic 2015. It was the last year of Sports Information (Si) as an independent subsidiary. Since January 1, 2016, Si has been part of SDA under the name SDA Sport. Sports Information has had a 94-year eventful history. The development of Si went hand in hand with the increasing importance of sports in society. In recent years, sport has increasingly become an economic factor with a political impact. SDA has responded to this. In order to be able to offer customers comprehensive sports coverage in the longer term, SDA decided to integrate sports into SDA as a fourth editorial department as of January 1, 2016, and to merge sports information with the Swiss Dispatch Agency. SDA Informatik was also integrated into SDA at the beginning of 2016. It had been founded 6 years ago together with the Austrian news agency APA and had been wholly owned by SDA since 2012. Its goal was to expand into third markets, which was only insufficiently successful.
Satisfactory result
The SDA Group, which in addition to Si and SDA Informatik also includes the Keystone photo agency, AWP Finanznachrichten and the news aktuell (Switzerland) communications company, closed the 2015 financial year satisfactorily in a difficult environment. Thanks to significantly lower operating expenses, profits increased. With operating income of 37.1 million Swiss francs (-3.5 percent) and operating expenses of 34.6 million Swiss francs (-8.1 percent), a net profit of 2.35 (previous year 0.57) million Swiss francs remained after taxes. There was a significant decline in personnel expenses, which fell by almost 10 percent to 25.4 million Swiss francs. (SDA)
