Trio supports the Swiss Paraplegic Foundation

In November, the Trio agency sent out mailings on behalf of SPS and launched an advertising campaign in the Lake Geneva region.

Every second day, a person in Switzerland suffers a spinal cord injury as a result of an accident. The SPF supports its members during rehabilitation in hospital and during reintegration into family, work and society. Membership of the Swiss Paraplegic Foundation is therefore not only a sign of solidarity, but also of foresight. This is the message of the current campaign, which was announced in a press release on Monday.

Responsible at Trio: Timo Kirez (concept) Melanie Bréchon (AD), Jakub Adamkiewicz (copywriter), Fabian Echeverria (creative director), Sonia Duperret (consulting manager), Yann André, Strates Photographies (photography).

The best Swiss press drawings 2013

"Gezeichnet", the annual review exhibition of Swiss press cartoonists, is entering the next round. From December 21, 2013 to January 5, 2014, the best caricatures and cartoons of 2013 will be on display in the Stadtsaal of the Kornhaus.

Around 200 works by 45 cartoonists on the important events and debates of 2013 will be on display. The list of participating cartoonists is a "who's who" of the Swiss scene: of course, well-known names such as Felix Schaad (Tages-Anzeiger), Max Spring (Berner Zeitung), Orlando Eisenmann (Südostschweiz, Der Bund), Peter Schrank (Baslerzeitung), Chappatte (Le Temps, NZZ am Sonntag), Ruedi Widmer (Woz) are not missing.

At the vernissage on December 21, former Federal Councillor Ruth Dreifuss and Aargau Councillor of States Christine Egerszegi will give their personal assessment of the year in conversation with "Rundschau" presenter Sandro Brotz. Many of the exhibiting artists will not only be at the Kornhausforum for the vernissage: On numerous exhibition days, the interested public will be able to look over the shoulders of the caricaturists and cartoonists at work.

"Gezeichnet 2013" is under the patronage of the satirical magazine Nebelspalter and is supported by the City of Bern, the Canton of Bern, the Burgergemeinde Bern and the coffee specialist La Semeuse. The event aims to give the interested public an understanding of the daily work of Swiss press illustrators beyond the newspaper columns.

Rebel: Heroic promotion of young talent for SMGV

For the Swiss Painters' and Plasterers' Association SMGV, Rebel has put the profession of painter and plasterer in a new light with a cross-media campaign. Comic heroes on a creative mission are to ensure a supply of apprentices.

The website conveys the world of painters and plasterers in a playful way and aims to rekindle interest among young people in the creative professions, according to a statement on Monday. Catherine Müller and Reto Schlatter new at UBI

The Federal Council has appointed attorney Catherine Müller and journalism instructor Reto Schlatter to the Independent Complaints Authority for Radio and Television (UBI). They replace Alice Reichmuth Pfammatter and Heiner Käppeli.

Because their terms of office are expiring, Alice Reichmuth Pfammatter will leave the UBI at the end of 2013 and Heiner Käppeli at the end of 2014. The Federal Council has now appointed their successors.

Catherine Müller is a lawyer in Olten. Previously, the 51-year-old was co-founder, presenter and managing director of Radio 32 in Solothurn, head of program services at Swiss television SRF, branch manager of the international film and television trading company Telepool, a lawyer specializing in media and telecommunications law at an international law firm, and a member of the executive board of the Swiss Media Association. She will take up her duties at the UBI on January 1, 2014.

Reto Schlatter is head of studies at the MAZ in Lucerne, where he is responsible for continuing education and leadership training. In addition, the 49-year-old works as an independent media trainer and organizational consultant and lectures at the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts and at the Henri Nannen School of Journalism in Hamburg. Previously, he was domestic editor at the Schaffhauser Nachrichten, head of the domestic department of the Neue Luzerner Zeitung and deputy editor-in-chief of the Handelszeitung. He completed his studies in law with a licentiate. He lives in Wädenswil. He will start his work at the UBI on January 1, 2015.

The UBI is an extra-parliamentary commission of the federal government that assesses complaints against radio and television broadcasts.

La Liberté will also be printed by Tamedia in the future

Starting in 2015, Tamedia will print both of Freiburg's daily newspapers. Following the agreement with the Freiburger Nachrichten, an agreement has also been signed to print the daily newspaper La Liberté.

This was said by the Director of Tamedia Publications romandes, Serge Reymond, in the "Médialogues" program on RTS television in western Switzerland. Tamedia and Paulusdruckerei had been looking for ways to work more efficiently in the printing area, said Reymond. After it became known that Paulusdruckerei would cease newspaper printing in Fribourg at the end of 2014, various options for printing the French-language daily La Liberté had been examined.

In June, St-Paul Holding had announced that some of the jobs at St. Paul's printing plant would be saved and the share capital would remain in Fribourg hands. The closure of the St. Paul newspaper printing plant was triggered by the fact that the Fribourg News, as the most important customer, had decided to have the newspaper printed by Tamedia in Bern from 2015. The offer there is said to have been 40 percent cheaper. The closure had triggered public protests. Most recently, however, the Fribourg Grand Council refused in October to provide financial assistance to St. Paul's printing plant. (SDA)

Last but not least: Happiness is good for you

Leo Burnett is giving cancer patients moments of carefree happiness back. In addition to a compelling case study video, a book has also been created to support this worthy cause.

Originally founded in Belgium, the Mimi Foundation knows that cancer patients not only need medical support, but that the psychological well-being of those affected must also be supported. Mental stress has been proven to hinder successful treatment. Optimism and positive thinking strengthen morale and ultimately the health of patients. The Mimi Foundation supports those affected in hospitals with psychological care on the one hand and aesthetic treatments on the other: Trained beauticians advise patients on how they can deal with the external consequences of chemotherapy and thus regain some of their quality of life. In addition to four centers in Belgium and one in France, the foundation has also been represented in French-speaking Switzerland (Sion) since 2008.

Long story short: Leo Burnett's campaign clearly shows what it's all about. The carefree moments of light-heartedness - even if they only lasted a few seconds - were captured by a photographer and presented in a Book published. All proceeds from the publication will go to the foundation. (hae)

Le Temps: Biver has lost interest

Watch industry magnate Jean-Claude Biver has backed out of the plan to take over Le Temps. According to the Sunday newspaper, Christoph Blocher and Tito Tettamanti are still in the running.

After the NZZ Jean-Claude Biver has now also withdrawn from the race for Le Temps, the daily newspaper in western Switzerland. As recently as the beginning of November, the watchmaking entrepreneur had submitted a dossier (Werbewoche.ch reported). In the meantime, he has "got cold feet," as the Sonntagszeitung knows. "The project is too big for me to handle alone," says Biver. He did not feel competent enough. Investors from the industry would have the advantage of being able to exploit synergies. The contractual commitment to Tamedia in distribution and printing, which Biver took from a confidential sales dossier, would have opened his eyes.

Christoph Blocher and Tito Tettamanti are still in the running with their Medienvielfalt Holding. The duo is keeping a low profile and does not want to provide any information on the possible takeover of Le Temps "in the course of the process". (soz/hae)

UBI: Mörgeli goes before the Federal Supreme Court

Christoph Mörgeli disagrees with the decision of the Independent Complaints Authority for Radio and Television (UBI) regarding the coverage of his role as a doctoral advisor. Mörgeli is therefore appealing to the Federal Supreme Court.

The UBI unanimously rejected three complaints from Mörgeli on Friday. The UBI found that Swiss Television (SRF) had not violated programming law with reports in two "Rundschau" programs and in "10 vor 10" about Mörgeli's role as a doctoral supervisor. SRF reported critically on the way in which dissertations were supervised and accepted at the Institute of Medical History at the University of Zurich. At the time, Mörgeli was employed as a titular professor and curator at the institute and museum.

Key points ignored

Mörgeli's main criticism is that the UBI did not even address the main points of his criticism. That is why he is taking the judgment further, he confirmed to the news agency SDA in a report by Sonntagsblick. As Mörgeli also told the sda, two people who had been called as key witnesses at SRF "never even graduated with me". The UBI had not responded to this criticism and had declared itself not responsible. "This is outrageous, nobody wants to be responsible", Mörgeli continued. And this despite the fact that SRF Director Ruedi Matter had expressly told him that the UBI was responsible for this. The behavior of UBI President Roger Blum was also outrageous, according to Mörgeli. He had tweeted against Mörgeli. According to Mörgeli, this had prejudged him. Blum did have to step down during the vote. But if a president lacks impartiality, he should resign, demands Mörgeli. (SDA)

NZZ am Sonntag and ZFF launch film magazine

In February 2014, the NZZ am Sonntag, in collaboration with the Zurich Film Festival, launched the film magazine *Frame*. Published four times a year, it takes readers behind the scenes of the film and entertainment industry and provides in-depth coverage of its key players.

The magazine will cover cinema, film and TV series with major reports, background reports, analyses, reviews and interviews with stars and directors. "Frame looks behind the scenes of the film business. It whets the appetite for new cinema films and TV series with in-depth and entertaining background articles," explain Nadja Schildknecht and Karl Spoerri, co-directors of the Zurich Film Festival. "But it also sheds light on the film industry and the Swiss film scene." Watching movies is one of the Swiss' favorite pastimes, yet there is no contemporary magazine in this country that gets close to the stars and directors.

"According to the Mach study, NZZ am Sonntag has the most film-savvy readership, which is why we are expanding our coverage of film and television with Frame," explains Felix E. Müller, Editor-in-Chief of NZZ am Sonntag. "We want to set ourselves apart from the existing offering in terms of content by going into depth in long articles. We won't bring 08/15 interviews from group appointments, but will visit Hollywood stars and industry bigwigs, whom we can get to thanks to the contacts of the Zurich Film Festival." Frame will present up-and-coming film countries with reports and report pictorially on which stars cut a fine figure on the red carpet in Cannes wearing which fashions.

The magazine also devotes a lot of space to home theater. Frame presents new TV series and tells which titles from the video-on-demand range are worth watching. The NZZ am Sonntag film editorial team is responsible for the content, but the pool of authors also includes representatives of the film industry such as This Brunner, doyen of the international film and art scene.

The first issue of Frame will appear at the end of February 2014 with a cover story on the Oscars. The magazine, which is published four times a year, will be included with "NZZ am Sonntag," but can also be purchased at newsstands and digitally in the iTunes store. Advertising sales will be handled by both ZFF and NZZ.
