"Big Rumble" at Kaufleuten

Last week was the time. The festival of festivals par excellence, at least for the common advertiser (Reklamator officinalis), took place in Kaufleuten: This year's winner is Martin Spillmann, who is known to everyone in the industry as a colorful dog. Because criticism has often been voiced that creative people always win, we have done the math. In fact, more than two-thirds of the titles awarded so far have gone to creatives, and only a pitiful remainder have been won by advertising consultants or agency CEOs.
That's why this year we want to remember that behind every creative advertiser of the year (if he is a man) there is firstly a strong woman, and secondly and thirdly also a strong agency. In this sense, Rita, Felser, Brönni, Zimmermann, Waeber and all the participants in the extremely successful SFLB experiment each have a small piece of the Egon trophy.
That a little less would be more, by the way, was what they thought at Werbewoche after last year's event. Fewer guests, but more fun. Which is why they didn't look for an even bigger location, but a better one - and sent the invitation to the guests personally. So there was no longer a Jekami event, and that of course caused hot heads to roll. In the end, however, it was found that whoever had to be there, was there. The criticism of the maneuver by the advertising scene was correspondingly positive - it was a top event, everyone said.
While the bears were dancing in the Kaufleutensaal and the drinks were trickling down the throats, specially invited and hand-picked guests dined in the adjacent restaurant, which was also filled to capacity. The three-course menu with cream soup, a sweaty Thai curry and deliciously sweet pineapple slices for dessert went down just as well with the guests as the grilled sausages served in the large hall. By the way, you can find more pictures of the party at www.werbewoche.ch.

Further education Copywriters are lone wolves at their desks, headstrong, cerebral and withdrawn. This is the cliché, according to the Swiss copywriters' association Script, but the reality is that copywriters often feel lonely and alone with their assignment, their idea and their text. Script is therefore organizing an evening for freelancers and agency copywriters to discuss the working situation. The paid event "Copywriters - misunderstood, lonely and abandoned?" is part of the ScriptERFA series and will take place on February 16 at the Diego Bally agency in Zurich. Further information and a registration form can be found at www.scriptweb.ch

This is not true. According to Franziska von Weissenfluh, Publishing Director of the BZ, local, regional and national customers of the Berner Zeitung were informed by post in calendar week 51 about the BZ's short rates for 2004. Larger customers were informed about the Berner model (including the new values and rates) in a detailed presentation. We regret the misunderstanding.

Marketing It is now certain: 1000 copies of the October issue of the free monthly magazine Film demnächst, which was offered at newsstands for three francs on a trial basis, were sold. "That's not bad," comments Product Manager Jean-Pierre Grey on sales. In parallel to the kiosk trial, the next film will be available free of charge in cinemas as usual. However, as an incentive to buy, a DVD was also attached to the newsstand copies with trailers of around 50 films that were shown in cinemas between October and January. According to Grey, it has not yet been decided whether the experiment will be repeated. (mk)
