Advertising print: Internet at a new high

The Goldbach Index (Gemi) figures for February 2015 show that advertising intensity on the Internet reached a new high of 780 points. Radio advertising also saw a slight increase. Overall, electronic media, as well as the market as a whole, remained stable.

Thanks to a striking increase of twelve points, the Goldbach Index for the Internet sector jumped from 768 to an all-time high of 780 points. Alexander Horrolt, Managing Director
of Goldbach Audience, sees the general pent-up demand of the digital market in Switzerland as the main reason. "The next few months will show whether the figures in February were also influenced by short-term shifts as a result of budget cuts following the discontinuation of the minimum euro-franc exchange rate."

After two months of declining values, the radio segment increased by four points compared to the previous month, reaching 402 points. The advertising pressure for digital out of home also increased by two points and consolidated at a value of 675 points. TV (from 653 to 651 points) and teletext (from 49 to 48 points) declined slightly. Overall, the result for electronic media as a whole was identical to the previous month at 649 points. At 238 points, the overall market was also at the same level as in January 2015.

Caricaturists sentenced in Turkey

A Turkish court has fined two cartoonists from the satirical magazine Penguen (Penguin) for insulting President Erdogan. The judiciary has recently been cracking down on alleged insults against Erdogan.

Bahadir Baruter and Özer Aydogan are said to have insulted the head of state with their drawing for the cover of the magazine for the August 21 issue last year, as the newspaper Hürriyet reported on Wednesday. The court sentenced the two illustrators to suspended sentences, but commuted them to fines. The Penguen cover shows a disgruntled Erdogan being welcomed by officials in the presidential office after his election as president. Erdogan complains about the unceremonious reception and asks whether "at least one journalist could be slaughtered" to celebrate the occasion. The judges recognized the insult in the hand gesture of one of the officials drawn. He forms a circle with his thumb and index finger, which is considered a sign for homosexuals in Turkey.

Additional proceedings against Baruter

In addition to the conviction for the two cartoonists, the court announced an additional criminal charge against the cartoonist Baruter. In his defense, the latter had said that the public prosecutor had probably been guided by his own subconscious in his interpretation of the officer's hand sign in the drawing. Baruter is now facing new proceedings for allegedly insulting the public prosecutor. Erdogan had already sued Penguen over a caricature during his time as prime minister, but failed. Since he took office as president last August, the judiciary has initiated more than 80 criminal proceedings for allegedly insulting the president. This was the result of a count by the Istanbul Bar Association. In some cases, the proceedings are based on complaints from Erdogan's lawyers. Critics accuse the president of high-handedness and intolerance. (SDA)

Last but not least: Media event plane crash

Many people are bothered by the media's sensational coverage of plane crashes and other disasters. It's time for the media to at least take note of this. A ten-point list can help.

Lorenz Meyer has drawn up a list of ten points that far too many media outlets could take to heart when the next plane crashes. They probably won't, but it's worth a try. For example, it is incomprehensible why such a tragedy has to be further emotionalized with photos of the victims. Photos that were often shamelessly stolen from the internet. But as I said: the list actually sums it up quite well, you can just leave it at that. And most of the points seem so obvious that you wonder why they don't get any attention. (hae)

New features for Facebook Messenger

Facebook is significantly expanding its messaging service, Messenger, with new features. Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced on Wednesday that integrations with other apps will make it easier to share animated images, videos, and other multimedia content.

Companies will also be able to communicate with their customers via Messenger. For example, online retailers could use Facebook's short message service to send shipping information to buyers, explained Messenger boss David Marcus. Customers could also use this method to make complaints. Zuckerberg also announced at the F8 developer conference in San Francisco that Facebook will soon also support 360-degree videos. The technology behind the Oculus 3D glasses, which allow users to immerse themselves in virtual worlds, will also play a role in the future. Facebook bought Oculus last year for around two billion dollars. In addition, Facebook and other companies such as Microsoft, Yahoo, Netflix and Dropbox want to exchange information about hacker attacks via the Threat Exchange platform. (SDA)

Melanie Kuhn, Marketing Manager at Halter Bonbons, answered a few questions about this:

WW: How long has Halter been a sponsor of Curling Club Baden Regio?
Melanie Kuhn: Halter has been the main sponsor of Baden Regio since 2013.

Was it already clear before the sponsorship that the team would have a good chance at the World Cup?
We always believed in the team's abilities. But nobody expected you to become world champions straight away. All the greater is the joy of this great achievement.

How did the partnership with the Baden Regio Curling Club come about? Who had the lucky hand?
Felix Obrist, Delegate of the Board of Directors of Halter, knew the then coach of Team Baden Regio. During a meeting, the team's sponsorship became a topic of discussion.

Who made the final decision on sponsorship?
The final decision was made jointly by Felix Obrist, CEO of Hunziker and Delegate of the Board of Directors of Halter Bonbons, Hugo Beck, Managing Director of Halter Bonbons and Melanie Kuhn, Marketing Manager of Halter Bonbons.

Felix Obrist, Delegate of the Board of Directors of Halter

Were there any particular reasons why Halter Bonbons decided to sponsor the Baden Regio Curling Club?
CEO Felix Obrist hoped that the sponsorship would increase the company's national presence. However, the curling ladies' world championship title has now added an unexpected and positive international presence, which opens up opportunities for the export business. In Canada, for example, curling is hugely popular and attracts a great deal of attention.

Is sports sponsorship a Halter strategy?
First and foremost, we decided that we wanted to sponsor athletes in the future in order to increase our presence at national and international sporting events. After this basic decision, we quickly agreed that we would like to sponsor the Baden Regio Curling Team. This is because we have a local connection with Baden and we would also like to get involved in a somewhat unusual sport.

_70P9034

Will Halter increasingly sponsor sports clubs or is this a one-off?
Halter is already involved with various athletes. Among others, Halter will be sponsoring Martin Jäger, biathlete, Christian Bieri, freeskier, and Roman Röösli, rower. We naturally hope that we can continue to celebrate such successes.

Will the collaboration with the team change after the World Championship title?
The sponsorship of the CC Baden Regio Halter team has so far exceeded our expectations. The Gold Ladies' next goal is now the Olympics. Halter will continue to sponsor and support Baden Regio.

Will the Gold Ladies be featured in Halter advertising in the future?
The success has overwhelmed us. We are definitely considering it. At best, the team will become part of an advertising campaign.

Unic experiences "boundless passion" for Audi online

Unic is implementing a scalable platform for online communication in almost 100 countries for Audi. The portal of the German automotive group accompanies (potential) customers from inspiration to after sales.

Audi stands for sportiness, progressiveness and high quality. The carmaker also wants to make these values tangible online throughout the entire customer lifecycle, from inspiration and evaluation to purchase and after-sales. The new web platform, which is designed to stir emotions and strengthen identification with Audi, is the basis for online communication in almost 100 countries. The dense German dealer network, a central cornerstone in maintaining customer relationships, is also integrated on the platform: Dealers have the option of designing their own web presence on the multi-client-capable system and easily adopting existing information offerings. In the German market, almost all dealer websites are operated on the Audi platform - worldwide there are around 900 dealer websites.

Audi_Migration_Unic

Unic had the task of building the scalable framework with Adobe CQ5, designing the system architecture and implementing the design templates in HTML and CSS. A particular challenge was to meet all the geographical regions in which Audi operates, with their different language and spelling requirements. Thanks to scripts written especially for Audi, the existing 250,000 content pages can be migrated automatically. The user-friendly interface supports the globally distributed content managers in managing the content of the platform.
