Cablecom demands clear guidelines for analog network from Federal Council

The cable network operator Cablecom wants clarity in the analog cable network. It is calling on the Federal Council to determine 25 channels that may not be moved to digital television by the end of 2009.

The cable network operator Cablecom wants clear conditions in the analog cable network. It is calling on the Federal Council to determine 25 channels that may not be moved to digital television by the end of 2009, reports the SDA news agency. Six months ago, Cablecom was still in favor of ten channels. The draft of the implementing provisions of the new Radio and Television Ordinance (RTVO) from the Federal Department of the Environment, Transport, Energy and Communications (DETEC) provides for 20 such so-called must-carry channels. Cablecom hopes that the desired 25 mandatory channels will provide greater clarity for itself and its customers. In addition to the 25 channels, the cable company would leave one info channel and three other channels in the analog network in order to comply with the agreement to keep at least 29 channels receivable until the end of 2009. After that, renegotiations would be necessary. DETEC is currently pleased with the proposal. Cablecom, on the other hand, accuses the federal government of zigzagging.

City of Zurich and Zurich Tourism live Zurich

The 2008 European Football Championships will put Zurich in the international spotlight. For this reason, the City of Zurich and Zurich Tourism are creating a uniform image for the Zwingli city under the motto "We live Zurich".

The 2008 European Football Championships will put Zurich in the international spotlight. For this reason, the City of Zurich and Zurich Tourism are creating a uniform image for the Zwingli city under the motto "We live Zurich". Zurich is to be perceived internationally, nationally and regionally as lively, multicultural and innovative. The claim is also intended to help position the city as a dynamic, creative location for experience, business and innovation, according to a media communiqué. The slogan was designed by Zurich agency Adivco Young & Rubicam. It will be used immediately, which is why a football or Euro-specific claim has been dispensed with. Nevertheless, the slogan "We live Zurich." is intended to make the city on the Limmat - with the momentum of Euro 2008 - known beyond national borders. The budget for the national and international implementation is CHF 2.9 million, subject to the approval of the municipal council on February 7. The ambassadors are Christoph Franz, Fiona Hefti, Heinz Spoerli, Monika Weber, Melanie Winiger and Prof. Kurt Wüthrich.
Marketing activities will focus on the main markets of Germany, Italy and the UK. Zürich Tourism will supplement "We live Zurich." with the question "When do you live Zurich?" The motto will also have an internal impact. The city is looking for projects from Zurich residents in which "We live Zurich." is implemented. A corresponding competition is to be launched at the beginning of May and judged in the fall.

MySpace dominates the search behavior of US Internet users. This was the conclusion reached by the internet analysts at Hitwise when compiling the ten most searched terms of the past year.
The analysis of search terms not only reveals the interests of Internet users, but also says a lot about the value of a brand, says Bill Tancer, Global Research Manager at Hitwise. "MySpace, for example, recorded enormous growth in hits in 2006, which reflects the increasing brand value
", Tancer explains the rating to Pressetext.
The US ranking is led by the term Myspace, followed by Myspace.com, Ebay and Yahoo. According to the results of another Hitwise survey, MySpace was also one of the 20 most popular websites in the USA in December 2006. With a market share of 4.95 percent, the portal was ahead of Yahoo's mail service (4.26 percent) and the Google search engine (4.24 percent). The 2006 annual report includes usage data from a total of ten million US Internet users. Search terms that suggest pornographic content were not included in the ranking.

Last but not least: Even dead people deliver advertising messages

Ever since a small Scottish village began using John Lennon as a promotional figure, interest in the village of Duress has skyrocketed. Why does this work?

Ever since a small Scottish village started using John Lennon as an advertising medium, interest in the Duress nest has grown rapidly. Why does it work? Between the ages of nine and 14, the Beatles legend spent his summer vacations with his parents in the 350-person village. And in 1969, a year steeped in history, he spent another time in the seclusion of the Scottish Highlands with Yoko Ono and his children. The village is now using this fact for its advertising message. As the representative of the tourist board confirmed to the SDA, the slogan "Give Duress a Chance", based on a Lennon hit, has not failed to make an impact. Whereas previously no one had taken any notice of the village at all, the inquiries are now pouring in. What is right for Lennon is probably still good enough for mere mortals. Perhaps some people hope that the magic of the Scottish landscape had a decisive effect on Lennon's genius. So pack your notebook and guitar and head north. There may be some super hits among the souvenirs.

Züri Plus wants to get to the heart of Tele Züri

HTV AG, operator of the small Zurich regional TV station Züri Plus, has big plans: Together with the media companies Ringier, Südostschweiz, Meier + Cie (Schaffhauser Nachrichten) and the TV marketer Goldbach Media, it is planning a "daily updated Zurich television".

To this end, the five unequal partners want to compete against the Tamedia broadcaster Tele Züri in the upcoming concession tender. The quintet of companies is already in the process of preparing a corresponding license application with a performance mandate and fee share for the new Zurich TV coverage area (including Schaffhausen and Glarus). This is clear from the statement that HTV sent to the Federal Office of Communications as part of the consultation process for the new TV coverage areas. To ensure that the plan is not simply dismissed as a bluff by the small regional broadcaster, the HTV letter also includes an explanation. According to this, the TV subsidiaries of the three media companies involved and HTV intend to establish a joint company in Wallisellen. The document is signed by Fibo Deutsch, Managing Director of Ringier TV, Südostschweiz CEO Hanspeter Lebrument, Norbert Neininger, publisher of Schaffhauser Nachrichten, Goldbach CEO Klaus Kappeler and HTV Managing Director Peter Steinmann. Although the HTV station Züri Plus has a license for the entire canton of Zurich until the end of 2008, it can currently only be received in analogue in 12 communities in the Glattal after being kicked out of the Cablecom network.

Ruf Lanz stops speeders on the slopes

32 percent of all sports accidents in Switzerland are winter sports accidents. This is no coincidence, as people are skiing faster and faster on the slopes, and a collision can have fatal consequences for your health. In a campaign for Suva, the creatives at Ruf Lanz draw attention to the dangers.

The Suva brand SuvaLiv is committed to safety in leisure time. For years, it has been advertising against speeding on the ski slopes with striking posters and advertisements by Ruf Lanz. The motif for the winter of 06/07 is also literally a hit: Two chainsaws laid down like skis dramatize the potential dangers of speeding in a surprising way. The solution: speeders on the slopes endanger themselves and others. The motif can be seen as an advertisement and poster in all major Swiss ski resorts.
