"If broadcast material that we offer for a fee is freely available on the internet, it jeopardizes the basis of our business," Goldstar Managing Director Gottfried Zmeck told Pressetext. He had registered 500,000 hits on the company's protected content via YouTube. The video platform operator Google is trying to limit the damage and emphasizes that it will remove affected videos from the site immediately. However, a service called Delutube has recently been launched, which makes it possible to retrieve deleted YouTube videos. Just a few weeks ago, YouTube was sued in the USA for billions in damages.

The Federal Data Protection Commissioner considers "Please tell me" advertisements, such as those that appear in Migros magazine, to be sensitive. The reason: In some cases, very personal details about wanted persons are revealed.
The data protection commissioner considers the column to be a borderline case, according to SDA in the latest issue of "Datum," the newsletter of the Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner. The consent of the person sought could not be given, and an overriding interest could hardly be claimed for all these advertisements. From the point of view of data protection, the matter is therefore "not entirely clean.
". Apparently, however, the column meets a broad need, the data protection officer continued, and so far hardly any complaints have been received. For this reason, the data protection officer appeals to advertisers and editors not to disclose any more information about the person they are looking for than is absolutely necessary.

The prejudice that online texts are second-class journalism is not true - says a new study from the USA. News articles are read more attentively online than in print media.
This is the conclusion of a recent study by the Poynter Institute, which compared the reading behavior of more than 600 people across four newspapers and two online media. Contrary to the assumption that the fast-moving nature of the internet also leads to cursory and superficial reading of news, this was disproved. The text material presented online was read far more (77 percent of the total text) than in large-format print newspapers (62 percent), according to Pressetext.at. The online media also scored points with the fact that more articles were read to the end once they had been started than in print.
