Publisuisse increases sales slightly

With sales of CHF 336.5 million, Publisuisse increased its previous year's result. In the television division, the figures remain stable compared to the previous year. However, the new business areas brought in more revenue.

With sales of CHF 336.5 million, Publisuisse increased the previous year's result. In the television sector, turnover remained stable at CHF 305.5 million. The other business areas (television and radio sponsorship, tele news combi, Espace TSR screens) developed very positively with an increase of around 66 percent, as the company writes in a press release on Monday. Operating income amounted to CHF 318.4 million, an increase of 3.7% compared to the previous year. Net profit after tax amounted to CHF 3.9 million. Publisuisse's share of gross advertising expenditure in the television sector amounted to 54 percent, meaning that it remains the number one in the television business in Switzerland. Following the successful takeover of TV sponsorship marketing for TSR last year, two new mandates were acquired this year: Tele Romandie Combi and Swiss Radio Pool (
). The new business activities and the assessment that the overall advertising market should continue to grow slightly in 2007 point to an economically successful financial year, the company reports. In addition, the future legal framework with its new possibilities (split-screen advertising, virtual advertising) should continue to have a positive impact.

More and more surreptitious advertising in music videos

Slumps in sales on the physical market, internet piracy, the Chinese black market: record publishers are increasingly being forced to tighten their belts and save on promotion costs for their bands.

Slumping sales on the physical market, internet piracy, the Chinese black market: record publishers are increasingly being forced to tighten their belts and save on promotion costs for their bands. The result: more and more music bands are financing their music videos with product placement.
According to a report on Pressetext.ch, record publishers are pragmatic about the increase in surreptitious advertising in music videos. The German Rock and Pop Musicians' Association (DRMV) also supports product placement. In addition, the legal path for surreptitious advertising will soon be paved in Europe when the EU lays down advertising rules as part of the EU Television Directive.

However, this does not mean that bands will be able to finance their video clips via surreptitious advertising in the future. Collaborations between musicians and brand companies are only likely to work to a limited extent in the future without the involvement of major music channels such as MTV or VIVA in sponsorship deals.

An article in the Südostschweiz newspaper on Sunday about a major tax break for the family of Graubünden real estate entrepreneur Arnold Mathis has legal repercussions. The city of Chur has filed a criminal complaint against unknown persons. The newspaper reported, based on documents from the authorities, that the city of Chur and the canton of Graubünden had waived taxes for the Mathis family. According to the newspaper, the total amount is likely to have amounted to around two million francs, as the SDA news agency writes in a report. The mayor of Chur, Christian Boner, announced that the reporting in Südostschweiz gave rise to the well-founded suspicion that secret files from the city administration had been illegally leaked to the media. For this reason, the city council feels compelled to file a criminal complaint against unknown persons.

Publicis advertises coffee and chocolate

The creative team at Publicis developed an emotional campaign for Nescafé that adheres to Nestlé’s international corporate design guidelines.

The creative minds at Publicis developed an emotional campaign for Nescafé that adheres to Nestlé's international corporate design guidelines. The subjects show typical morning moments and the headlines humorously emphasize the individual dosage of the classic in powder form. The campaign consists of four subjects and has been on display in German and French-speaking Switzerland since this week.
Publicis introduces dark chocolate Easter bunnies for Chocolat Frey with the slogan: "Discover the dark side in you!" The bunnies are made palatable with advertisements in women's magazines and the Sunday press on the one hand, and with a virally distributed "horror film" on the other. The commercial tells the story of a lady in a nightgown, who eats a dark chocolate bunny in a gruesome way. The commercial can be found on youtube, and a broad wave of e-mails is also being sent out. The campaign runs until Easter.

Last but not least: Advertising ban against popular uprising

Local elections were held in Cambodia yesterday, Sunday. Because SMS advertising is not only widespread in the Asian country until the last minute, but also until after the election, all SMS services were switched off for the entire weekend.

Local elections were held in Cambodia yesterday, Sunday. Because SMS advertising is not only widespread in the Asian country until the last minute, but also until after the election, all SMS services were switched off for the entire weekend.
The stop is intended to spare the tempers that have so far remained largely calm. According to the SDA, hundreds of people were killed in the months before and after the parliamentary elections in 1998 and 2003 and the commune elections in 2002. The authorities also fear unrest now. Imagine what an advertising text message can do in this heated atmosphere. It's unthinkable if someone who has just been frustrated by an election defeat for their party is harassed with intrusive advertising from the victors. After everything is already over anyway.

Orientation guide from Publicis for Sportplausch Wider

To ensure that nobody gets lost in the world's largest bike store, the Zurich-based creatives from Publicis have produced a "store map".

To ensure that nobody gets lost in the world's largest bike store, the Zurich-based creatives from Publicis have produced a "store map".
Sportplausch Wider has rebuilt and doubled the size of its store: there is now space for over 1,000 bikes in the store, the "largest bike store in the world", as the store immodestly calls itself. To underline this claim in terms of advertising, Wider commissioned Publicis to create a corresponding give-away. Publicis then measured the store and developed a "great" store map in the form of a map. True to format and with an exact reproduction of the new Sportplausch Wider topography, including hundreds of detailed markings, according to the Publicis press release. The map will be sent out as an insert for regular customer mailings and handed out in stores.

Jung von Matt turns five pages for Migros Bank

Against Bureaucracy: The Zurich-based advertising agency JvM / Limmat, working on behalf of Migros Bank, shows just how tedious dry number-crunchers can be—and that there’s another way.

Against bureaucracy: On behalf of Migros Bank, the Zurich advertisers from JvM / Limmat show how tedious dry number crunching can be - and that there are other ways of doing things.
Migros Bank is also attractive for corporate clients, writes JvM in a press release on Friday. By not clinging pedantically to figures and not linking decisions solely to the performance of a company, it shows that things can be done differently with convincing business concepts. JvM / Limmat demonstrates how cumbersome the back and forth with a bureaucratic bank can be on a half-page that you have to flip back and forth 5 times to read. Fortunately, this special ad will be in the Sunday papers over the next few weeks - because then there will be time to enjoy fresh concepts.

Medal blessing at ADC New York for Walker

Good news for the Zurich creative: the strict New York ADC jury honors Walker with three awards.

Good news for the Zurich creative: the strict New York ADC jury honors Walker with three awards.
Walker's "It's not happening here, but now" campaign for Amnesty International, which has already won several awards, also won over the New York jury at the 87th Annual Awards - "probably the world's most award-winning jury", as Walker writes in the corresponding press release. Last year, just two bronze cubes went to Switzerland, and only one the year before. This makes Walker and Amnesty International all the more delighted.
