Two more journalists join the Sunday edition of the Mittelland Zeitung

The Sunday edition of the Mittelland Zeitung continues to expand its staff. Yves Carpy and Gregor Waser are joining the Sunday edition.

Yves Carpy is expected to join the editorial team of the Mittelland newspaper's Sunday edition at the beginning of September and will be responsible for the business section as a reporter and coordinator. He is currently head of the business section at "Blick" and previously wrote for the "SonntagsZeitung" for five years. The second new addition will strengthen the Foyer team with regard to the Sunday edition and will be responsible for tourism/travel and multimedia. Gregor Waser worked in the travel business and switched to journalism in 1994: he first worked as an editor at "Travel Inside" for four years, since then he has been a freelance travel journalist for specialist magazines, but also for newspapers, including the "Aargauer Zeitung" and the "SonntagsZeitung".

Yellow pens can also be medals

This year, the British D&AD judged 3,000 poster submissions from around the world. Three posters made the shortlist. But the jury honored only one poster campaign. Walker won the coveted Pencil for its poster series for Amnesty International.

Since its foundation in 1962, the British D&AD has been regarded as probably the strictest guardian of creative quality worldwide. Only a few works make it into the D&AD Annual each year and even fewer receive a Pencil. Walker is one of the few to return from London with a Pencil. For the campaign "It's not happening here. But it is happening now" campaign for Amnesty International, the Swiss agency received a yellow pencil. The lucky winner from Switzerland, Pius Walker, commented: "Winning a yellow pencil is pretty exciting. At the latest when you want to leave England with it and get stuck at the strict London airport security check because nobody believes that this is what a medal looks like. After 30 minutes, we agreed that this was a harmless paper weight."

Advertising pressure continues to grow

April was a good month for the advertising industry. Advertising volume increased by 6.9 percent.

As the market research company Media Focus reports in a press release, advertising pressure rose by 6.9% to CHF 355.8 million in April. The cumulative increase since the beginning of the year amounts to 10.2 percent to 1.235 billion Swiss francs. Compared to the previous year, political campaigns doubled to CHF 15 million due to the increase in party advertising and the vote on the single health insurance fund. Non-profit campaigns with topics such as health promotion, social services and environmental protection also grew at an extraordinary rate of 60%. The most important advertising market in terms of volume, the automotive industry, grew by 9.2% to CHF 136.6 million. In April alone, this sector grew by 13.8%.

Unusual advertising from Baden

The advertising agency S&W has embellished the AZ Mediengruppe annual report with microscope images. The aim is to illustrate various aspects of the company through depictions of biological processes.

The advertising agency S&W has decorated the AZ Media Group's annual report with microscope images. The various aspects of the company are illustrated by depicting biological processes.
In the AZ Media Group's new annual report, each illustration reflects the topic covered on the opposite page. According to the press release from the commissioned advertising agency, companies and living organisms have many similarities, as both would function best if each smallest unit knew and mastered its task and thus served the whole optimally. Thus, the insights into the microscopic world of cells and nerves would reveal surprising analogies to functions, activities, tasks, products and services in the various business areas of the media company.

Free newspaper in the afternoon also in French-speaking Switzerland

Since April, the Edipresse publications *24 heures* and *Tribune de Genève* have been producing a short afternoon newspaper that can be downloaded for free online on weekdays starting at 4:30 p.m. On Friday, the 25th, a print edition of the newspaper will be distributed for the first time in several major cities.

Since April, the Edipresse titles 24 heures and Tribune de Genève have been producing a small afternoon newspaper that can be downloaded free of charge from the Internet from 16:30 during the week. On Friday 25th, a print edition will be distributed for the first time in several major cities. If you want to know in the afternoon what will be in the next day's paper, you can pick up Le Monde (published at 1pm) or download the 16:30 edition of 24 heures and the Tribune de Genève if you're short of reading time. The second variant is a collection of light news as we know it from Heute, but unlike its German-language forerunner, 16:30 has so far only been available as an online newsletter. Now the free afternoon paper is being distributed on public transport for once. It remains to be seen whether readers will like it and whether the newspaper will focus more on print in future.
The 16:30 summarizes the latest regional, national and international news on four pages and also covers entertaining topics such as blogs and strange news, offers exit tips and games and praises favorite books or gadgets.

Last but not least: 2 hours in hell

Julie Delpy's film "2 days in Paris" is a shallow comedy that is full of clichés and prejudices. Truly a celebration of cinematic failure.

Julie Delpy's film "2 days in Paris" is a shallow comedy that is full of clichés and prejudices. Truly a celebration of cinematic failure.
Marion (Julie Delpy) and Jack (Adam Goldberg) - she's French and he's from the US - are in Marion's hometown of Paris for 2 days at the end of a long European trip. Jack is a hypochondriac who manages to be so pseudo-sick throughout the supposed romantic European trip that they can't even have sex, and he uses Schwarzenegger movies as a reference. Marion's parents serve the narrow-minded boyfriend from the U.S. rabbits along with their heads, yell at each other, call each other names in the crudest terms and show him a nude photo that Daughter once took of him and immediately sent home in secret. All this in about 10 minutes. Marion is so hysterical that she is kicked out of the restaurant, cab and almost out of the relationship. All this in less than 24 hours.
Neither the dumbest Yank nor the silliest Frenchwoman could behave so stupidly. But if you already limit the content to clichés, then you could assume that this would make the film funny. No, because Delpy tries to weave in some "real" feelings here and there and fails miserably. In fact, many a film critic has claimed that the film is smart and has depth. Yes, Germany's Next Topmodel and the toddler pool have that too....

Winged advertising from Ruf Lanz

The creative minds at Ruf Lanz have created a new poster for Zurich Airport. The advertisement is already so popular that an extra edition is planned.

The creative minds at Ruf Lanz have created a new poster for Zurich Airport. The advertisement is already so popular that an extra edition is planned.
A large and a small Swiss airplane waddle across the runway like a duck with its chick. According to Friday's press release, the poster is intended to illustrate the wide range of products on offer at the airport outlet. The wide range of goods on offer at the airport is so tempting that a single plane does not offer enough storage space for the purchases made, but has to be supplemented with a trailer.
According to Peter Wider, Managing Director of the Airport Outlet, the poster has gone down so well that several aviation fans have already asked him whether they could buy the motif. The agency and customer are now planning to print an extra edition. The last Ruf Lanz poster - featuring Prince Charles, who has been wearing the same ski suit for 20 years - is currently on display at the final of the New York Festivals.

Professional association Impressum concerned about the acquisition of Espace Media Group

The trade unions are speaking out in a cascade regarding the elephant wedding in the Swiss media. The association of Swiss media professionals Impressum also fears that the purchase of the Espace Media Group by Tamedia will result in a merger of the Bund and Berner Zeitung.

The trade unions are speaking out in cascades about the elephant wedding in the Swiss media. The association of Swiss media professionals Impressum also fears that the purchase of the Espace Media Group by Tamedia will result in a merger of the Bund and Berner Zeitung newspapers.Although the new partners Tamedia and Espace Media Group assure us that the Bund and Berner Zeitung newspapers will not undergo a merger, the trade unions do not really seem to buy it. In its statement on Thursday, the media union Impressum warns against the expressly announced use of synergies. The association fears that savings will be made that could lead to the dismissal of media professionals and restrictions on editorial independence.
Impressum draws attention to the fact that the diversity of the press is extremely important, particularly in the federal capital, and cannot be judged solely from an economic perspective. The association is also working to ensure that the sale of the radio stations Baslilisk (Basel) and Canal3 (Biel) does not have a negative impact on staffing, working conditions and content.
