Industry The CP industry grows by 18.5 percent. Above-average growth in electronic publishing and international print objects.
The growth trend in the corporate publishing industry continues unabated: The members of the Forum Corporate Publishing recorded an average increase in turnover of 18.5 percent in 2007. Each member of the FCP realized the equivalent of six additional print publications and four new electronic objects such as e-journals, online newsletters, podcasts or corporate weblogs. This was the result of the 2007 annual survey on the development of the industry and assessment of the market among the more than 80 service providers that are members of the FCP. "The significant growth of our industry is not only continuing, but is even increasing in comparison to previous years," says FCP Vice Chairman Stefan Endrös. "No other media category and no other marketing discipline has been able to achieve continuous double-digit growth rates in recent years." Digital media, in particular e-journals and corporate weblogs, accounted for 26 percent of sales growth last year. "Electronic publications enable a particularly intensive dialog with customers, business partners or employees," explains Manfred Hasenbeck, Chairman of the FCP. "However, virtual media are only really successful when all media channels are intelligently networked with each other."
Increase of 30 percentThe number of international corporate publications also rose at an above-average rate in 2007, with an increase of around 30 percent. "Worldwide communication concepts are becoming increasingly important in view of globalized markets," says FCP Managing Director Michael Höflich. "Corporate publishing products that appear in several languages and for different countries, while also taking regional influences into account, can make an excellent contribution to uniform branding."
The positive expectations for 2007 have been fulfilled for almost all FCP respondents: 96% confirm general growth of 18.5% on average for the past year. Around 90 percent of those surveyed expect even better business and sales development in 2008. From a sector-specific perspective, the greatest potential is forecast in the industry, technology and energy sectors.
In total, the members of the Corporate Publishing Forum produce more than 1500 publications with a total circulation of around 990 million copies per year. They also implement a total of around 800 electronic publishing projects.
