In an interview with the Sonntagszeitung, SF editor-in-chief Haldimann commented on the facts of the Toni Brunner microphone affair. Roland Huber, the author of the SF film, had wanted to show how Brunner leads the members of the SVP parliamentary group before and during the election to the Federal Council. The filming had been agreed with Brunner. According to Haldimann, it did not occur to Huber that the footage with the clearly visible clip-on microphone could have been interpreted as a "hidden recording".
Huber was not the only one who was unaware that a special admission permit was required for the Council Chamber of the Federal Palace. "I only understand the indignation of the parliamentarians based on the discussions I have had since then. The confidentiality of the journalist-free Council chamber is very important to them," said Haldimann.
He has since deposited the recordings with a notary, where they are to remain until the investigation is concluded. The editor-in-chief remained silent about the internal consequences for journalist Huber. "It is crucial that we learn the right lessons from the incident," he concluded.
