Last but not least: Advertising ban for the labeling of smoking establishments

The current ordinance on protection against passive smoking requires that the labeling of smoking establishments must not have an advertising character. The SW has now submitted a statement to the FOPH, as the ordinance violates the legal standard in numerous points and has an ideological and patronizing effect.

Sunday is the deadline for the consultation procedure for the ordinance on protection from passive smoking. The current ordinance on protection against passive smoking requires that the labeling of smoking establishments must not be of an advertising nature. The SW has now submitted a statement to the FOPH, as the ordinance violates the legal norm in numerous points and has an ideological and patronizing effect. Instead of protecting non-smokers, the aim is an actual and far-reaching ban on consumption, according to the SW's statement. The communication industry is specifically affected by Article 4 paragraph 2, which stipulates that the labeling of smoking establishments must not have an advertising character. Swiss Advertising clearly rejects this passage: "Either these premises comply with the legal provisions and are therefore legal or they are not. It is not understandable why rooms that can be operated legally should not be advertised." It is incomprehensible to what extent an effective advertising label and declaration could cause harm to a non-smoker. After all, no non-smoker would be tempted to enter a smoking establishment by an advertisement, no matter how attractive it was.

JWT+Hostettler+Fabrikant launches national launch campaign for Radio 105

September 9, 2009, marks the official launch of a new Swiss radio station: Radio 105. To mark the launch, the Zurich-based agency JWT+H+F designed a wide-ranging launch campaign.

September 9, 2009 marks the official launch of a new Swiss radio station: Radio 105. To mark the launch, the Zurich agency JWT+H+F has created a broad-based launch campaign. The campaign idea itself dramatizes that Radio 105 plays the music that fully corresponds to the target audience. Which is summarized by the claim: "Radio 105. Sounds like me". Advertisements, posters, online advertising and various media activities announce the new radio station.
In a 4-month test phase before the official start of broadcasting, work was carried out together with listeners to ensure that the radio offers exactly what the target audience wants to hear. These test listeners were sought and found in a campaign by testing their knowledge and passion for music. Also in the run-up to the start of broadcasting, a casting campaign sought and found the 5 young people who would be featured in the launch campaign for the new station from a large number of applicants. The selection, the photography and the appearance in general convey Radio 105's claim to be absolutely non-mainstream.
The launch campaign, which communicates this positioning, then moves on to a second phase in which print motifs provide more details about the radio. Further communication measures, including a national TV campaign, will follow on an ongoing basis.

Responsible at JWT+H+F: Remy Fabrikant (overall responsibility), Reto Baumann, Jennifer Rimann (consulting), Grischa Rubinick, Enrico Bachmann (creative direction), Mathias Bart (text), Juventino Mateo Leon (photography), Süsstrunk & Jericke (image processing).

Over the course of the year, advertisements have fallen by 20 percent, the media company wrote in a press release on Saturday. Imprint accuses Ringier of breach of contract

Ringier Romandie has seriously violated the Western Switzerland Collective Bargaining Agreement for the Press by issuing layoffs without first consulting the editorial staff, according to the accusation leveled against the publisher by Impressum, the Western Switzerland journalists' union. A total of ten people were affected by the layoffs.

Ringier Romandie has seriously violated the collective labor agreement for the press in French-speaking Switzerland by making redundancies without first consulting the editorial teams, according to the accusation directed at the publisher by the French-speaking Swiss journalists' union Impressum. According to SDA, a total of ten people were affected by the dismissals. The publisher should have discussed alternatives with the editorial teams or their representatives before the redundancies were announced, Impressum wrote in a press release on Friday. In particular, short-time working should have been considered.
Impressum reserves the right to take legal action against the " abusive dismissals. Consultation is a rule of the social partnership in force in French-speaking Switzerland. Ringier, on the other hand, is of the opinion that it acted in accordance with the rules. The internal rules had been respected, in particular the staff committees had been informed of the redundancies the day before, said Daniel Pillard, Director of Ringier Romandie, when asked by SDA. The difference between Ringier Romandie's practice and the collective labor agreement is small.
