Four. advertises on masts for the gastronomic diversity in Laax

Just in time for the start of the season, the Zurich-based agency Four. is promoting Laax’s dining options on a total of 53 poles at three ski lifts. The campaign highlights individual restaurants by showcasing their culinary specialties.

This is done by means of three to four posters per business, on which a recipe is presented very briefly. The very different recipes address all target groups - at the same time, the culinary diversity of the region is emphasized. Further information, for example on the location of the restaurant, can be obtained by the lift user directly via cell phone using M.laax.com request

Finanz und Wirtschaft restructures newspaper, online and editorial offices

From Saturday, January 14, 2012, Finanz und Wirtschaft will be published as a new Zweibund newspaper with a refreshed design. The investor newspaper also has a new editor-in-chief and an expanded editorial team.

The previous rigid separation between Switzerland and abroad in corporate reporting will be abolished, as detailed in a press release issued on Thursday. The first section, "Companies", is now dedicated to company and sector analysis with a global perspective and continues to cover all listed Swiss companies. The second bundle, "Markets", is intended to provide an overview with macroeconomic analyses and reports on strategic investment topics at the level of asset classes such as equities, bonds, commodities, foreign exchange, derivatives and emerging markets.

In order to meet the changes in the markets and readers' need for up-to-date information, Finanz und Wirtschaft will be launching a completely revamped digital offering in a few weeks' time, according to a statement. This will include detailed reporting and will be available online as well as on tablets and smartphones. The service is subject to a charge and is available as an annual subscription at a price of CHF 274. The newspaper can still be subscribed to - including the digital offering - for CHF 332 per year. A small part of the online content, such as the Morgenreport, will remain available free of charge.

Personnel changes

As a result, Finanz und Wirtschaft has also restructured its editorial team and expanded it to around 50 journalists, who are fully integrated into both the newspaper and the digital offering. Mark Dittli has worked with the Managing Director of Finanz und Wirtschaft, Martin Coninx, and the project team over the past year to drive forward the further development of the newspaper and its digital offering. He took over as editor-in-chief at the beginning of January 2012. He succeeds Peter Schuppliwho took early retirement at the end of the year after more than 35 years at Finanz und Wirtschaft. He will continue to work for Finanz und Wirtschaft as an author. Dittli joined Finanz und Wirtschaft in 2000 as domestic editor. The 37-year-old then spent five years as a foreign correspondent responsible for all economic and financial reporting from New York. He has been head of the foreign desk since 2008. Mark Dittli studied business economics and holds the CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst) title.

Two new deputy editors-in-chief were also added to the editorial team at the beginning of January 2012, Markus Diem Meier and Konrad Kochadded. Markus Diem Meier is responsible for the digital offering and web development, while Konrad Koch is the editor. Until the end of 2011, Diem Meier was head of the business section of the news network Newsnet. Before that, the 48-year-old historian and economist with a stock exchange license worked as a business journalist for national titles such as Handelszeitung, Bilanz and Facts. Konrad Koch has been editor of Finanz und Wirtschaft since 1986. He worked as a media documentarian and trained as a journalist at the Media Center in Hagen/Germany. At Finanz und Wirtschaft, the 59-year-old was previously in charge of the real estate dossier and was the editor responsible for the magazine Luxe, published in cooperation with Bilan.

Sonntagszeitung and Le Matin Dimanche create national research desk

The Sonntagszeitung and Le Matin Dimanche are expanding their investigative journalism capabilities: The two newsrooms are establishing a joint national investigative desk based in Bern.

According to a press release on Thursday, this team is made up of eight to ten journalists from German- and French-speaking Switzerland and aims to research investigative stories across language borders from a Switzerland-wide perspective. The aim is to further improve the journalistic quality of the two titles and achieve real added value for the readership. The Sonntagszeitung and Le Matin Dimanche are thus making targeted investments in investigative journalism. The research desk team is given the opportunity to research a topic for several weeks. The aim is to achieve a significantly higher journalistic substance of the individual stories and a richer factual basis and depth.

The new national department, which builds on the experience of the research desk launched last year at the Sonntagszeitung and came about on the initiative of publisher Pietro Supino, is jointly under the responsibility of the Editor-in-Chief of the Sonntagszeitung, Martin Spieler, and the Editor-in-Chief of Le Matin Dimanche, Ariane Dayer. The national research desk, which will start operations in spring 2012, will be headed by Oliver Zihlmann, previously Head of News at Sonntagszeitung. This function will now be assumed by his former deputy Matthias Halbeis.

Awards for investigative journalism

In order to strengthen investigative journalism in Switzerland, the Sonntagszeitung is also launching a new sponsorship award for investigative journalism in cooperation with the Media Training Center Lucerne Maz. Each year, one talented young journalist will be given the opportunity to learn the art of investigative journalism at the new research desk of Sonntagszeitung and Le Matin Dimanche in Bern and to put it into practice. A comparable sponsorship award is offered by Le Matin Dimanche in French-speaking Switzerland.

Enjoying the garden with a facelift and new online presence

In its anniversary year 2010, the publishing house Freude am Garten was taken over by the newly founded Mespro AG, according to a press release. Last but not least: Turning pages made easy

Have you long dreamed of reading a newspaper in peace without having to laboriously turn the pages? Probably not. Still, it’s worth taking a look at the latest invention by U.S. artist Joseph Herscher.

Whether the world has been waiting for this invention remains questionable. Likewise, whether you can still concentrate on reading the newspaper over the noise and whether the hamster would consider his life worth living. In any case, the machine cannot be denied a certain originality, and perhaps it will awaken the child in one or other of you a little...:
