Bricks & Wide: Campaign for Hypomat.ch

Hypomat.ch is billed as «the first true online mortgage.» The Zurich-based agency Bricks & Wide handled the branding, web design, and campaign for Glarner Kantonalbank.

With Hypomat.ch, the Glarner Kantonalbank realized an online portal which, according to the announcement, for the first time makes it possible to redeem an existing mortgage quickly, easily and at attractive conditions. The Zurich agency Bricks & Wide was given the task of creating the naming and branding for the new product and promoting Hypomat.ch with various communication measures. Bricks&Wide was also responsible for the screen design and usability of the online application.

According to the agency, the challenge was to simplify the complex process by means of a clear design and thus make it as self-explanatory as possible for the user to redeem his mortgage. The web application was implemented by Inventage (software engineering) and Gridonic (front-end development).

In developing the name Hypomat.ch, care was taken to ensure that the name has a strong recognition value and can become a fixed term for online mortgages, according to the statement. Thus, an analogy to the ATM was deliberately created. Furthermore, the agency created an advertising and banner campaign, which makes Hypomat.ch known in a striking way as the "first real online mortgage". In addition, a short image film about the creation of Hypomat.ch and an animation spot were realized.

Responsible at Glarner Kantonalbank: Marcel Stauch (Project Management), Patrik Galatti (Head of Marketing). Responsible at Bricks & Wide: Michael Wiedemann (Strategy / Project Management), Michael Booz (Concept / Head of Creation), Patricia Harzenmoser (Art Direction).

Last but not least: cat loves car

Cats hate being locked in cages and driven to the vet. Unless, of course, their owner drives a Toyota and is part of a New Zealand Saatchi & Saatchi ad.

Then the pussycat can't get enough of the new Corolla and constantly comes up with new reasons to be driven to the doctor's office. Even if the story seems a bit far-fetched... most people will still have trouble keeping from laughing when watching the clip.

According to Horizont.net, the spot premiered yesterday on Facebook and is part of Saatchi & Saatchi NZ's new "Feels Good inside" campaign. This also includes the following two clips:

Ruf Lanz: Beware of slips when hiking

Hiking may be the miller’s delight—but Suva, on the other hand, takes a critical view of this popular recreational activity from the perspective of accident statistics. Ruf Lanz has created a campaign designed to warn people against missteps.

No fewer than 295,000 accidents per year are attributable to falls, according to the press release. In mountainous areas, the most frequent cause of accidents in Switzerland can have particularly fatal consequences. For this reason, Suva is now supplementing its long-standing prevention campaign against falls with another striking advertisement and poster. The pancake in the shape of a slippery banana peel is aimed specifically at hikers and provides numerous tips on how to avoid falls while hiking with little effort.

SNK: New appearance for the Hear the World Foundation

Hear the World is a global initiative that raises awareness about hearing and hearing loss. The foundation has recently been expanded to become part of the Sonova Group’s CRS program. As part of this repositioning, SNK is developing the new brand identity.

The new role of the Hear the World Foundation under the umbrella of the Sonova Group is reflected in the visual appearance, according to a statement. It incorporates elements of the Sonova brand identity and explicitly refers to the Group with the new logo byline - "a Sonova Group initiative". Apart from that, the Hear the World Foundation forms an independent appearance that consciously differentiates itself from Sonova, especially in its color scheme.

According to the statement, the focus is on the logo, which visualizes two important aspects of the initiative: The descriptive word mark conveys the institutional seriousness and responsible attitude of the Sonova Group and its Corporate Social Responsibility (CRS) program. Complementing this, the sweepingly drawn figurative mark is intended to convey emotionality, humanity and closeness. It depicts the core of the initiative - the worldwide commitment to the topic of hearing - while leaving room for interpretation. Accordingly, the "W" of "World" merges with the outlines of the ear or heart in the logo. The warm, earthy gray tone is deliberately intended to differentiate from the cool blue of the Sonova brand. Closeness and simplicity are also conveyed by the hand-drawn quality of the logo, which looks like a brushstroke created by a child's hand. In contrast to the logo, which is more restrained in terms of color, the overall appearance of the initiative is intended to be lively and accessible, according to the agency.

Universal McCann for Médecins Sans Frontières

On October 15, Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) will launch its new communications and fundraising campaign. The ad, «Donate for Life,» highlights the direct connection between donors and the work of MSF teams in the field.

As MSF writes in a press release, the institution was able to count on generous support from digital media and television channels for this campaign. The spot was produced by the media agency Universal McCann (UM), part of IPG Mediabrands.

From October 15 to November 10, 2012, the clip will be shown on various cable TV channels, websites and social networks. This will enable hundreds of thousands of households in German-speaking Switzerland to be reached. At the same time, the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts is conducting a study to find out how the campaign is affecting awareness of MSF.

The message of the commercial is clear: donations save lives. Donations from private individuals are crucial to MSF's social mission, as the organization is more than 80 percent funded by private donations, according to the press release. In Switzerland, the organization can count on the support of 200,000 benefactors and is therefore able to act and provide aid worldwide within 48 hours.

Maxim Germany is discontinued

The German edition of the men's magazine Maxim is discontinued with the current number. The Lichtenstein-based publishing house New Level Establishment took over the magazine from Marquard Media in 2009.

New Level Establishment states to the website Kress.com that the magazine would be discontinued "due to a lack of economic prospects. While Maxim sold over 115,000 copies under Marquard in 2008, 65,000 copies were printed at last count. The German licensed edition started in 2001 and was initially published by Axel Springer Verlag.

Thus, Maxim Switzerland is the only German-language edition of the title. The Swiss version appeared for the first time in September 2012 (Werbewoche.ch reported) and is published six times a year.

In the new environment, the SRG media company wants to convince as a radio and television provider (broadcast) and as a multimedia provider (broadband). The behavior of viewers is changing: Many of them do not follow the program and broadcast times; thanks to the Internet, they use media offerings independently of time and individually. More Swiss productions and even closer to the audience

SRG's strategy is to reach users where they are with a distinctive public service offering: on radio, television and the Internet.

SRG wants to increase the number of Swiss productions. Live reporting as the foundation of the channels is to be expanded. Smart TV (also known as hybrid TV) must be developed quickly - priority is given to the European standard HbbTV and second screen. New social trends are to be picked up early on in radio and TV programming. In addition, the aim is to address mobile and young audiences better and in a more targeted way. Although the population is getting older, the aim is to maintain the average age of listeners.

SRG's Executive Board and Board of Directors worked closely together to develop the strategy. The Board of Directors approved it at its October meeting: The corporate strategy will be followed over the next five years and updated as needed.
