Text Academy Podcast #35 - Stéphanie Kioutsoukis: "What happens when bosses ban AI?"
When executives ban AI, they weaken the very areas that are fighting hardest for attention: marketing and communications. Stéphanie Kioutrsoukis, an AI strategy expert from Biel, discusses this in the Text Akademie Foundation’s podcast.

Stéphanie Kioutsoukis is a guest on the latest episode of the Text Akademie Foundation’s AI podcast. The Biel-based entrepreneur and innovation expert has observed a paradoxical pattern: the pressure to produce more content in less time is increasing. At the same time, restrictions are hindering the structured use of AI tools that could provide relief precisely in this area. Employees are responding by resorting to shadow IT, using personal accounts, and testing campaign ideas outside of any oversight.

The potential is particularly evident in marketing. Many teams use ChatGPT to generate ideas for social media posts or newsletters. Kioutsoukis sees this as just the beginning. Communication will only become truly «AI-native» once entire content process chains are reimagined. Her team uses the AI to analyze opinion leaders, cluster topics, and generate post suggestions based on them. People curate the content, refine the tone, and adapt examples, while the AI handles the groundwork and generates variations.
Any company that responds with bans is doing its brand a double disservice. Campaigns take longer, responses to trends come later, and testing remains sporadic. At the same time, the company is missing out on the opportunity to learn systematically from data. AI can identify patterns of engagement, reveal target audience preferences, and refine strategies. Without these signals, communication remains based on gut instinct.
Kioutsoukis advocates for clear guidelines rather than bans. Marketing and communications teams should be encouraged to experiment with AI—on defined systems, with guidelines for data and content. Mistakes are inevitable, but they are instructive. It is crucial that executives protect these learning processes rather than penalize them.
Swiss SMEs, in particular, are at a crossroads. Their visibility depends increasingly on digital communication, while budgets remain limited. AI can help produce content more frequently and in a more targeted manner—from topic research to personalized messages. Those who turn a blind eye to this option risk falling behind in their communications.
In this way, AI in marketing becomes neither a panacea nor a threat, but rather a standard set of tools. Bans cement old structures and drive usage underground. Clear guidelines, training, and the courage to experiment turn AI into an amplifier for brands, messages, and dialogue.
