Standing Ovation launches Emovation decision model for brand impact
Zurich-based brand experience agency Standing Ovation presents Emovation, a decision-making model that reveals for the first time why brands work. The approach combines association analyses, personal in-depth interviews and data-based evaluations into an integrated analysis model - and thus opens up a dimension that traditional KPIs do not capture: the emotional motives behind decisions.

The blind spot of data-driven brand management
Today, companies have more market, performance and consumer data than ever before. Clicks, reach and conversions can be measured precisely. Nevertheless, one central question remains unanswered: Why do some brands have a lasting effect - and others don't?
The reason lies in a blind spot in data-driven brand management. Classic key figures show what people do - but they do not explain why they choose a brand. The underlying motives and needs remain invisible in many analyses.
Three perspectives for the emotional fingerprint
With Emovation, Standing Ovation systematically analyzes precisely this level. The analysis is based on three complementary perspectives: quantitative data from association networks, qualitative insights from personal in-depth interviews and data analytics from company and market data and the digital public. This results in the emotional fingerprint of a brand - a structured motive profile that makes visible which hidden needs are activated in the target group and which motives shape behavior. The basis is a four-dimensional motif architecture with 16 motifs. It makes it possible to systematically record emotional brand drivers and make them comparable.
Emotional response score measures coherence
The Emotional Response Score (ERS) was developed on the basis of this analysis. The score shows how well a measure fits the brand - not how strong it is emotionally, but how coherent it is. This makes a dimension visible and measurable that traditional KPIs do not capture: the motivational drivers behind behavior.
Emovation serves as a basis for decision-making along the entire customer journey - from analysis and strategic alignment to the evaluation of campaigns, content and brand experiences. Standing Ovation thus closes a key gap in data-driven brand management: not just measuring what people do - but understanding why they make decisions.
