The federal government is in the red again

The Bund Group (Bund, Radio Förderband, Stadtanzeiger Bern), which is part of Neue Zürcher Zeitung AG (NZZ), did manage to increase its revenue by 4 percent to 63.49 million francs last year.

Although the Bund Group (Bund, Radio Förderband, Stadtanzeiger Bern), which belongs to Neue Zürcher Zeitung AG (NZZ), was able to increase sales by four percent to CHF 63.49 million last year, the Group and the Bund newspaper itself were once again in the red. In 1999, the Bund Group reported a profit for the first time after several years of restructuring. According to the NZZ, the economic environment must be considered favorable, and Bund Marketing Director Raoul Wanger and Willy Schib, Head of Regional Newspapers at the NZZ, emphasize that the newspaper had extraordinary expenses due to its 150th anniversary and also reacted and invested outside the budget in the Bernese Oberland to the expansion of the Berner Zeitung. "Without these expenses, the Bund accounts would have been in the black again last year," says Wanger. The fact that the Stadtanzeiger was merged with the Anzeiger rund um Bern (previously BTM) at the beginning of 2001 to form the Anzeiger Region Bern and had to be redesigned also had an impact on the Bund Group. This also caused additional costs - as an investment for the coming years (mk).
