Last but not least: Cow in the shopping cart

The U supermarket chain focuses on products of French origin. Using Dynamic Augmented Reality, TBWA Paris has brought this connection to France to life for customers.

The Système U retail chain positions its supermarkets as sustainable and close to home. In a globalized world, focusing on strengthening one's own economy and local values is certainly not a stupid idea. Securing jobs, protecting the environment, preserving cultural identity - you almost have to think that's a good thing. Thanks to marketing and advertising, we are also very familiar with the principle here in Switzerland: even once frowned upon German discounters are now more Swiss than any village store that has since closed.

TBWA Paris, together with the DAN Paris agency for U, used the big technical trowel to show customers what is behind the products in a more than visual way. The contents of the shopping carts were quickly replaced by animations on a twelve square meter video wall. Triggered by the products purchased - the technology is called Dynamic Augmented Reality. Anyone buying eggs saw a chicken coop being chauffeured through the area. Dairy products, for example, conjured up a cow in the car. The amazing displays were supplemented with explanations of their origin.

Speaking of reality: now the beautiful, ideal farm world would just have to correspond to reality and everything would be perfect. (hae)
