Last but not least: Couchepin explains old idioms
Federal Councilor Pascal Couchepin doesn't seem to have his hands full with his high-profile job: The Minister of Culture is now explaining old idioms in the tabloid *Blick*. Let's hope this isn't just a ploy.
Federal Councillor Pascal Couchepin does not seem to be fully occupied with his magisterial job: The head of the Federal Department of Home Affairs has apparently converted from a lawyer to an etymologist and is now explaining old idioms in the tabloid Blick. In the first article, published on Thursday, the Minister of Culture explains the saying "Sold for a lentil dish". A total of around ten articles are planned.
In response to possible criticism as to whether he had nothing better to do, Couchepin said in an interview with Blick on Thursday: "This is time very well spent." His aim was to communicate with the population. A member of the Federal Council cannot be denied this, said Federal Council spokesman Oswald Sigg when asked by SDA. On the contrary: it is even highly desirable.
Couchepin waives his fee. In agreement with him, Blick will transfer the amounts to charitable organizations. For the first contribution, the money goes to Pro Juventute. So the campaign is probably not entirely for the foxes - incidentally, the Werbewoche editorial team would also be interested in an explanation of this expression.
