Take and go
Amazon will open its first cashier-less grocery store in 2017.

Brave new world: While the major retailers in this country are burying the manned checkouts and delegating the work of the paid staff to the customers, the USA is apparently already one step ahead. Amazon Go is the name of the concept that is being touted as the most advanced shopping technology in the world.
The highlight: nothing needs to be scanned. Customers can take what they need and leave the store. All they need for this shopping experience is a smartphone, the Amazon Go app and an Amazon account. The app recognizes which goods the customer takes from the shelf. And which ones they put back. The shopping list is updated in advance and billed via the Amazon account when the customer leaves the store. Queues and conveyor belts are a thing of the past. Unfortunately, so is the freedom to pay cash and bypass your own database.
It seems as if you still have to enjoy the time when at least the shelves are still being stocked by people. And friendly ladies stand at the self-checkout stations to explain the procedure to the sometimes overwhelmed customers. (hae)
