Lidl lets users set up their own store via "My Lidl Switzerland" app

Lidl Switzerland brings the free "My Lidl Switzerland" app directly to tablets and smartphones. The app makes it possible to build a store from a market stall to a Lidl branch.

From now on, anyone can open their own Lidl store and interact with virtual customers, offering them fresh vegetables and fruit, drinks, flowers and much more. The game is designed for players aged six and up, available for free on Google Play and in the App Store, and without in-app purchases or advertising banners. Regular updates keep delivering new tasks and expansion options. A special feature is the barcode scanner. With it, players can scan products in real Lidl stores for free to receive additional "coins." Lidl thus links the online gaming world with the real world.

Von level to level, from the market stall to the Lidl store

The focus is on building up your own store, which is supported by the constant companion "Lukas Lidl". The aim is to develop the supply of virtual customers from a simple market stall (level 1) to a fully equipped Lidl store (level 5). As in a real store, customers have individual expectations of their purchases. Freshness, quality, and sustainability are just as central values in the game world as they are in the real world, along with the availability of goods. However, the player not only has to meet customer needs with his store, but also master daily tasks and spontaneous challenges in addition to working economically. The aim is to collect as many Lidl coins as possible, which can be used to expand the store and enlarge the product range.

The app is part of Lidl Switzerland's family concept. The concept includes, among other things, family-friendly product range development and the Lidl-family.ch site, where an expert advisory board provides tips and information for everyday family life. The idea (Lidl Stiftung & Co. KG) and implementation (APPSfactory) of the app come from Germany. (pd/hae)
