AI advice from Selma: Do bankers still need it?

The financial services provider Selma is introducing its digital advisor, raising the question: Are bankers even necessary anymore? The first crowdinvesting campaign aims to make the community co-owners and further improve the platform with new features.

AI is also on the rise in the financial industry. With an update of the app, Selma has subjected its improved digital advisory service to extensive testing. Around 2,000 customers took part in the beta test, with 79 percent finding the support provided by the automated digital advisor useful.

AI as a banker replacement?

Selma analyzes the individual financial situation of its customers and creates tailored optimization proposals. "With our digital advice, we offer a suitable complement, if not a replacement, for the human bank advisor, in order to support our 12,000 customers even better in optimizing their finances," explains Patrik Schär, CEO of Selma Finance.

The initial focus is on supporting customers in their savings and asset structuring. In the coming weeks and months, the advisory functions will be rolled out to all customers and expanded with additional functions. "Our goal is to provide our customers with optimal support in all areas of their finances - starting with their savings rate and ending with their mortgage. In this way, we are developing Selma from a digital investment assistant into a smart financial advisor," emphasizes Schär.

Crowdinvesting campaign for more innovation

To further develop the app into a smart financial advisor, Selma launched a crowdinvesting campaign on Monday. The goal of the campaign is to make the Selma community co-owners and to further develop the app with new capital of one million and offer new features.
