Roadmap to Digital Excellence: Exponential Organizations and Great Transformation
Human Centricity: The human side of mechanization
Changes in the technical setting also always mean a change for employees. After all, technology and innovation is always essentially a human journey of discovery and is therefore also subject to these laws. This is why the most important building blocks or the DNA of a system, no matter how complex, are not the technological subsystems, but the people themselves. The change is ultimately what the new possibilities do to us humans. Self-organization forms the basis on which all of this is built, and in recent years, companies have learned how to scale technologies. Now it is time to learn how to scale organizations excellently. History and common sense show that you cannot radically transform a company without fundamentally changing the nature of that organization. That is why an organizational model has emerged in recent years that is consistent with these changes: Exponential Organization (ExO).
ExOs: The new form of organization in the digital age
An exponential organization is a company that is characterized by high potential and rapid growth. It is characterized by sustainability, innovation and agility. The profit achieved is a multiple of the average profit of comparable companies. In order to achieve this goal, it is necessary for companies to establish new structures. It is assumed that ExOs are the decisive organizational form of the 21st century. In the last 10 years, companies have been founded that have achieved enormous success in a very short space of time and whose corporate history will be groundbreaking for other companies.an ExO can be created by founding a new company in the form of a start-up. However, it is also possible to transform existing companies into exponential companies. However, in these cases there is the problem that existing and traditional management structures have to be reformulated. A persistence in old structures is often observed, which makes fundamental change more difficult.* Marco Englert (MBA) is a manager, consultant and coach and focuses on management innovations for the sustainable control of increasing dynaxity and digital transformation.
