This was the Inbound 2017 in Boston
"See you next year..."
Before Inbound 2017 came to an end, I had the opportunity to talk to the initiator of the event and CEO of Hub Spot. I wanted to find out some background information about the conference and Hub spot from him.
An interview with Brian Halligan, CEO Hub Spot:
MK What motivated you to start the Inbound Conference six years ago?HALLIGAN The conference began as an online community of Hub Spot partners. However, physical contact between the participants was important to us, so we started with around 600 people.MK Inbound has grown very strongly over the last few years - how can a medium-sized company like Hub Spot manage such a mega event?HALLIGAN We have an internal team of 8 people who manage the project together with external specialists - it works quite well.MK What are your two personal takeaways from Inbound 2017?HALLIGAN I was impressed by Michelle Obama's confident, grounded performance and Pixar's Ed Catmull's explanation of how Steve Jobs had changed in his personality after being fired from Apple and subsequently became empathetic.MK Why should a company that uses a classic CRM tool still take a look at Hub Spot's solution?HALLIGAN Typical CRM solutions are poorly accepted by sales people because they are perceived as management control tools. We have addressed this point and developed our solution with sales people for sales people.MK What is limiting the strong growth of Hub Spot?HALLIGAN: The primary limitation to our growth is the labor market - we cannot find enough talent.MK What does the typical Hub Spot partner who helps to introduce the solution to end customers look like?HALLIGAN In the past, these were web design agencies with a more technical focus; today they are mainly full-service marketing agencies.MK What is your key message to marketeers?HALLIGAN Customer communication behavior is changing and marketers need to follow this closely: from text to video, from forms to chat, from email to messaging.
