Delicacy raises awareness of the risks of gambling

For the second time, a national awareness campaign on gambling addiction will launch on Monday. Over the next few months, it will use the internet to highlight the risks of gambling and provide information on available support services. The trilingual campaign was implemented by the Feinheit agency.

Problem gambling is not uncommon in Switzerland: according to the Swiss Health Survey 2022, 4.3% of the population had problematic gambling habits. The risks are particularly high with the increasingly widespread online gambling. When the e-games study published in 2023 confirmed this, the prevention programs of all cantons and the Principality of Liechtenstein joined forces for a campaign for the first time.

This national awareness campaign is now entering its second round. It will be distributed via various online channels from Monday until the beginning of October. The cantons have once again commissioned the Feinheit agency to design and implement the campaign.

Players should question their motivation

The campaign addresses those affected via social media, YouTube, online portals and prominently placed results in Google searches. Animated videos and image ads show different motivations for gambling, such as kicks, relaxation or fun, and question them. At the heart of the campaign is the trilingual website Gambling-check.chwhere the target group can explore a total of six motivations in depth and find out about help available throughout Switzerland.

The content builds on the 2023 campaign. However, Feinheit has completely revised both the advertising material and the website. In particular, the risks of gambling are highlighted more quickly and clearly. There is also a new campaign strand aimed at the relatives of those affected and offering them support.

Prevention programs of the cantons: Dörte Petit, Hannah Wettstein, Matthias Weber (Gambling without addiction: Northwest, Central and Eastern Swiss cantons and Principality of Liechtenstein), Domenic Schnoz (Center for Gambling Addiction: Canton of Zurich), Leonard Dinkel (PILDJ: Western Swiss cantons), Ivan Rickenbach (Ingrado: Canton of Ticino). Responsible for fineness: Stephanie Auderset (project management, concept & editing), Martin Schweizer (concept & online marketing), Simon Hugi (consulting), Christian Perez, Lara Hubacher (design & web design), Alexandra Theiler (design & animation), Catherine Pearson (layout & adaptation), Fabian Reichmuth (programming).

Kind regards for SPS: You're never alone in a wheelchair

In its membership campaign for the Swiss Paraplegic Foundation (SPS), Freundliche Grüsse highlights the stories of Chiara, Heiri, Rosa, and Tim—four people who have been paraplegic since an accident and who, thanks to the foundation’s 2 million members, never feel alone.

Paraplegia turns the lives of those affected upside down. The aim of the Swiss Paraplegic Foundation is to enable paraplegics to lead a self-determined life with the best possible health. This is exactly what the current campaign shows.

"You are there for others, and we are there for you"

While those affected are heavily dependent on help for the first few months after an accident, they find their way back to a self-determined life during the rehabilitation period. The globally unique service network of the Swiss Paraplegic Foundation and its Group companies is only possible thanks to two million members who stand up for people with spinal cord injuries.

For those affected, being able to live a self-determined life also means no longer being completely dependent, but also being able to be there for others again. The centerpiece of the campaign is therefore an emotional TV commercial featuring Chiara Schlatter from Thun, Heinrich Dürst from Glarus, Rosa Zaugg from Bern and Tim Harder from Winterthur. All four give an insight into their life in a wheelchair after an accident - and how they can be there for others again today: As friends playing sports or riding motorcycles, as teachers for their schoolchildren or at barbecues with their families.

The appeal to become part of a strong community is a link to the two million members of the Swiss Paraplegic Foundation.

Members are also part of the campaign

The campaign highlights two perspectives. That of those affected, with the stories of Chiara, Heiri, Tim and Rosa. But also those of members who tell the public why they are part of this huge community of two million members and why they wanted to be part of this campaign.

"For the 'Never alone' campaign, creativity, passion and real stories of people with spinal cord injuries were combined. Generosity and gratitude were palpable throughout the production and the result is more than an advertising campaign - it is an expression of solidarity, strength and community," says Stefanie Kaufmann, project manager at SPS.

In addition to TV commercials, the campaign will be played out over the next few years on posters, digital ads, in social media and via various digital advertising media. The clear aim is to attract new members so that people like Chiara, Heiri, Rosa and Tim can continue to lead a self-determined life and be there for their loved ones. With the MetaDesign agency, the Swiss Paraplegic Group and its organizations have further developed their brand identity - for more clarity, simplicity and recognition (Markt-kom.com reported). This will be shown for the first time in the Swiss Paraplegic Foundation's campaign.

New commercials for "Say it better on Digitec"

The video campaign «Better Say It on Digitec» will enter its next phase in 2025 with new commercials, encouraging tech enthusiasts to share their opinions and knowledge on Digitec.ch.

Whether it's at an anniversary gift-giving ceremony, a chat with tourists in Zurich or on the couch with your therapist - your inner nerd sometimes bursts out in inappropriate situations.

The commercials are new, the concept is unchanged: With a wink, the campaign by online retailer Digitec invites tech enthusiasts to share their passion where they meet like-minded people - on Digitec.ch. Because this is the home for tech enthusiasts who want to share their insights and expertise in a lively community. Or in short: Say it better on Digitec.ch!

As is usual for Digitec, these new commercials were also developed by the in-house creative team, supported by specialized partners in the areas of pre-production, filming and post-production.

The campaign has been online since Monday in German-speaking and French-speaking Switzerland, on relevant social media channels such as Instagram and TikTok and on web TV.

Numbers wants to make it easier for SMEs to access digital marketing

Founded in early 2025, the Bern-based startup Numbers offers a flexible digital marketing solution for small and medium-sized businesses. The concept: an outsourced marketing team that supports companies without requiring them to hire their own specialists.

The Numbers founding team (from left to right): Hans Oury, René Linder, Jean-Claude Zulauf and Arben Lekaj.

Behind Numbers are marketing and online specialists Jean-Claude Zulauf and René Linder as well as entrepreneurs and tech professionals Arben Lekaj and Hans Oury. Their services are aimed at SMEs that want to use digital marketing but do not have the internal resources to set up their own team.

"SMEs have an enormous need for comprehensive digital marketing expertise," says Co-Managing Director Jean-Claude Zulauf. Added to this are the challenges posed by rapid technological change, a shortage of skilled workers and fluctuating workloads."

The company relies on a subscription model and two entry-level packages with all-inclusive prices to make access to professional digital marketing plannable. Further information can be found at Numbers.ch.

House of Communication Zurich rocks the "We are Family!" discount from Swisscom

Up to five people living in the same household can save a lot of money on their Swisscom Mobile subscription with the new «We are Family!» discount. Serviceplan Suisse has launched a campaign for the offer.

The telco provider Swisscom is now offering a "We are Family!" discount. This means that only one person in the household pays the normal price for their Blue Mobile subscription, while it only costs half the price for all roommates.

For the campaign, Serviceplan Suisse simply reversed the insight "the bigger the family, the less it can afford" - because the bigger the family, the more it saves with the new discount offer. In the two subjects of the currently running campaign, the members of a family and the flatmates of a shared flat are therefore "wow-like" amazed at the new savings opportunities. The moving image advertising material is accompanied by the global hit "We are Family" by Sister Sledge from 1979, which Swisscom licensed for the campaign. Newly arranged and recorded by DubDub Studios.

The 360-degree campaign has been on TV, in Blue Cinemas, as DOOH and OOH, in classic display ads, in special social media productions and at the POS since the beginning of February.

Live Lab celebrates its 10th anniversary

The Zurich-based agency Live Lab is turning ten and is celebrating its anniversary with a campaign and an event this summer. The focus is on a creative presentation exploring the importance of live communication.

Since it was founded in 2015, Live Lab has specialized in live communication and stages events that bring brands to life. For its anniversary, the agency is focusing on a campaign that emphasizes the value of personal encounters - packaged in a fictional confrontation between proponents of live experiences and an imaginary adversary "Dr. Evil" and his followers. Thus, "Mr. Generic", "Lady Void", "Captain Boring", "Empress of Ice" and "Procrastinator" stand for communication weaknesses such as interchangeable concepts, banality and boring content.

The highlight will be an anniversary party in the summer, which will bring the diversity of live communication to life with interactive elements and productions. "As well as a celebration, this anniversary is also a statement," explains Live Lab co-founder Maximilian Souchay. "We want to show why live communication is indispensable - especially at a time when generic content often gains the upper hand."

The event is not only open to invited guests, but also to the public. Further information is available at Livelab.com/liveisglorious.

Digital commercial register entries: NZZ acquires stake in Hoop

Moneyhouse, the NZZ’s online portal for commercial register and business information, will soon enable users to incorporate companies digitally and make changes to the commercial register. This is made possible through a partnership with the software developer Hoop, in which the NZZ has acquired a minority stake.

Hoop, a subsidiary of the Swiss software company Abacus, has developed the first solution with which company formation in the commercial register and changes to it can be processed completely digitally. In collaboration with NZZ, these services will be available directly via Moneyhouse from 2025. The functions are available to existing companies, founders, fiduciary offices and law firms and notary's offices.

"Moneyhouse is the first portal in Switzerland where commercial register information can be accessed and simultaneously entered and amended paperlessly," says Patrik Widmann, Head of Moneyhouse at NZZ. "With this innovation, we are establishing a new level of digital service for our users."

The partnership is intended to reduce the bureaucratic effort involved in setting up a company and speed up the process. The implementation of the new services is planned for the first half of 2025.

Study on NFTs: potential and risks for brands

A study by the University of Lucerne shows how companies can use NFTs to boost revenue—and what reputational risks are involved. To this end, the researchers analyzed 671 NFT campaigns by global brands.

(Iconic image: Unsplash.com)

"Non-fungible tokens, or NFTs for short, have established themselves as a digital business model in recent years. Brands from a wide range of industries - from car manufacturers such as Renault and Kia to luxury brands such as Gucci and Balmain, Disney and Marvel - have included NFTs in their offering. One Current study by Leif Brandes, Professor of Marketing and Strategy, and doctoral student Katharina Dölp examines the economic benefits and potential risks of this strategy.

The analysis of 671 NFT campaigns shows: Financial success depends on several factors. A strong brand positioning, strategic partnerships with Web3 experts and the added value of an NFT for customers are particularly effective. Companies that offer NFTs not just as collector's items, but with additional benefits, were particularly successful.

Graphics: Study "Non-Fungible Tokens (NFTs) as Digital Brand Extensions. Evidence on Financial Performance and Parent-Brand Spillovers")

However, the use of NFTs also harbors reputational risks. An experiment with almost 3,000 participants showed that the mere announcement of an NFT campaign can damage a brand's image. A poorly thought-out strategy amplifies this effect - especially for premium brands.

The researchers conclude that NFTs can be an opportunity for companies, but require careful planning. While they can increase sales and open up new markets, there is still a risk of reputational damage in the sometimes controversial crypto market.
