Radio SRF 4: New politics program launched

Radio SRF 4 News is launching a new discussion program. On «Freitagsrunde,» three guests engage in lively debates each week about the week’s notable domestic political events. The hosts are Michael Bolliger and Max Akermann.

According to the press release, the discussions in the "Friday Round" focus on the work of the government and parliament in Bern. Michael Bolliger or Max Akermann, each with three guests, follow equally closely important topics in the cantons or cities, as well as speeches by associations or individuals that have caused a stir. It's all about a debate of opinions. That's why the guests in the studio are not incumbent politicians or members of parliament. What they have in common is a politically sharpened view of everyday life and a high-profile opinion on events.

In the first broadcast on Friday, January 10, 2014, at 2:30 p.m., host Michael Bolliger will welcome guests Michelle Beyeler, a political scientist at the Universities of Bern and Zurich, Christine Bühler, President of the Swiss Farmers' and Rural Women's Association, and Carlo Schmid, former CVP Council of States member from Appenzell Innerhoden.

The experience gained during the pilot phase has shown that this type of communication represents a reasonable effort for the administration, the government writes in a statement on Thursday. Additional positions would not have to be created. In addition to the short message service Twitter, the communications department of the Canton of Bern also uses Facebook, for example. (SDA)

Last but not least: Droned dolphins

When it comes to animal and nature documentaries, no one can hold a candle to BBC. The latest proof: dolphins taking drugs.

Dolphins are more like us humans than we would like. For decades, we sold them for fools by letting them perform meaningless tricks. Switzerland is in the clear and has been dolphinarium-free since 2013 (a long time ago!). The Conny Land operators were unable to understand the problem until the very end. Another "Talk Täglich" probably wouldn't have helped. Perhaps the BBC can help.

The amazing documentary department of British state television has succeeded in filming dolphins taking drugs. A pufferfish is used for this purpose. This animal, known from Japanese cuisine, contains one of the strongest neurotoxins in the world in certain parts of its body. In small quantities, however, tetrodotoxin has a narcotic effect. As with any poison, it is a question of dose. There is no need to explain this to the dolphins filmed - they gleefully pass on the dead pufferfish as soon as the desired effect sets in. Once again, this proves the point: They definitely have better things to do than jump through hoops in front of screaming school classes. (hae)

Adicto gives the Grand Hotel National a new coat of paint

Design meets tradition: The agency Adicto from St.Gallen has redesigned the traditional brand of the Grand Hotel National in Lucerne. of the Grand Hotel National in Lucerne.

The agency showed itself to be responsible for the complete recreation of the corporate design
responsible - from the revision of the brand to all print products. The brand image of the traditional Grand Hotel National in Lucerne is now shining in new splendor. Adicto, the agency for design and new media in St.Gallen, first took on the brand of the 5-star hotel and finally implemented the entire communication media for image, correspondence and guest information on the basis of the new corporate identity.

New overall picture after hotel takeover

The new, uniform appearance, which will characterize all activities of the Grand Hotel National AG in the future, has a pleasing background: After the expiration of the lease agreement, the AG took over the hotel operation again itself in the fall of 2013. "After the takeover, we wanted to continue our offer of hotel and résidence under a uniform image that shows our competence as well as the elegance, tradition and special flair of our hotel. We are very pleased with the result," says Nicole Winkler, General Manager of the Grand Hotel National.

Filigree down to the smallest detail

The refreshed brand features fine and closed ornamentation with curved shapes, the elements of which can now be reproduced in all media. This has enabled the consistent handling of the brand to be optimized through the multitude of formats and media used, and the color scheme to be reduced. In addition, the house was re-staged with current photographs. Adicto has been working for the Grand Hotel National since the agency was founded in 2012 and also designs, among other things, advertisements or, as most recently, the Christmas mailing.

PR: Blogger relations on the verge of a breakthrough in 2014

Nicolas Scheidtweiler, owner of the Bremen-based agency Scheidtweiler PR, sees blogger relations as a trending topic in press and public relations. As a result, he believes they will play a more central role in corporate communications in 2014.

"In my view, blogger relations are on the verge of a breakthrough as a PR tool. After all, the added value for companies of professionally addressing blog operators should not be underestimated. The trend will be at the expense of traditional mass media," emphasizes Nicolas Scheidtweiler. Blogs can be used to multiply topics and messages to specific target groups.

Blogger relations are similar in principle to traditional press relations, but are subject to special requirements. "Addressing bloggers requires a certain sensitivity. This is because they live in particular from the credibility of their person. Even a mere assumption of influence on the part of the company could trigger the opposite of the desired reaction and have a negative effect on the company's image," says PR expert Scheidtweiler in a press release. It is therefore important to only convey valuable and non-promotional information to blog operators.

Another trend for him this year is content marketing. Among the social networks, Nicolas Scheidtweiler sees Sildeshare as a rising star.
