Ogilvy: TV commercials for Durgol

For Düring, based in Dällikon, ZH, Ogilvy & Mather Zurich has created a new, emotionally engaging campaign for two of Durgol’s core products—Durgol Express and Durgol Surface.

durgol-t2

Swiss, reliable, a leader in quality - this is what Düring has stood for with its Durgol brand descaling products for 65 years. To further sharpen the brand's positioning, Düring has launched the development of two new Durgol TV commercials. The Zurich branch of Ogilvy & Mather is responsible for their creation and realization.

While previous communication focused on the effective performance of Durgol products, special attention was now paid to enriching them with emotions. For this purpose, Ogilvy & Mather developed a concept in which children proudly tell how their daddy can perform miracles with durgol. Among other things, daddy can turn stone into silver, make not only mommy shine, or make things disappear. The new commercials will be launched in August.

Responsible at Düring: Andreas Hunte (Director Marketing / R&D); Claudia Schmidt (Senior Product Manager). Responsible at Ogilvy & Mather: Thomas Bolliger (CD); Tino Heuter (AD), Marcel Elsener (text); Lisa Apolloni (consulting); Gaby Zimmerli (overall responsibility). Responsible at Markenfilm: Florian Studer (production); Neele Vollmar (director).

French-speaking Swiss journalist shot at favela

A few terrifying moments for an RTS sports journalist and his cameraman in Rio: After their GPS mistakenly directed them to a favela, their car came under fire. A week ago, a *Blick* journalist had been the victim of a brazen theft.

rts_3

The media office of the western Swiss television RTS confirmed on Tuesday reports of the Fribourg daily La Liberté and the local station Radio Fribourg. According to the report, journalist Marc-André Berset, who is reporting on the Olympics from Rio de Janeiro for RTS, wanted to drive to a stadium early Sunday evening with his Brazilian cameraman. To avoid the traffic jam, their chauffeur used a navigation device. Instead of taking them to the sports arena, however, it led the journalists to the edge of a slum in the big city. There they were threatened by an armed man on the street. Instead of stopping, the driver had the presence of mind to step on the gas pedal. The man then shot in the direction of the fleeing car, but did not injure anyone. A sports journalist from the SDA, who met Berset afterwards, described the French-speaking Swiss colleague as "shocked". He was visibly shocked by the incident. Berset himself did not want to comment on request.

The codes of the favelas

Although security in Rio was drastically increased during the Games and the military and police are omnipresent in the streets, the crime rate in the metropolis remains high. Many of the favelas, the poor neighborhoods, are now so-called pacified: There are no more gang wars - or at least significantly fewer - since a special police unit has been present to keep the peace. In principle, it is also possible for foreigners to visit favelas. However, the accompaniment of a local with contacts to residents is a prerequisite - he knows the unwritten laws of the neighborhoods and the rules of conduct.

Uber cab tire slashed

However, crime does not only exist in the poor quarters, but also in the more noble places like Copacabana. The news about thefts and robberies are coming in daily. Several cameramen from different countries have already had their equipment stolen. One of the victims is Blick journalist Fabio Back. Under the title "So brazenly I was robbed" he immediately reported on the incident himself, which was recorded by a surveillance camera: Two criminals slashed a tire of his Uber cab. When the driver has to stop and change the wheel, he is distracted by the men. After that, his video equipment and laptop worth 10'000 francs are gone. The gangs do not stop at the athletes either - and not even at the use of weapons. U.S. Olympic swimming champion Ryan Lochte and three teammates were robbed on the night of Sunday on the way home from a party. Their cab was held up by criminals dressed as police officers; the men threatened the swimmers with firearms. The Americans were also unharmed. (SDA)

Last but not least: This is a Fondue Party

In a new commercial, Taco Bell takes our national dish and dips it in cheese.

fondueparty
Soon it's fondue time again. Better yet, we'll be taking the forks into our own hands again - and dipping them into the right mixtures. Until then, the rest of the world can still enjoy the number one cheese dish to their heart's content. Take these hipsters here, for example, who are indulging in a Gorgonzola-Gruyère concoction at their "fondue party." But arguably still better than the bright yellow, cheese-like concoction Taco Bell put in Mike's burrito. (hae)

From 1999 to 2007, he held various positions at SonntagsZeitung and from 1994 to 1999 at Blick as a reporter, later chief reporter. Pfister had headed SonntagsBlick twice on an interim basis: in September/October 2013 and now from May to August 2016. Booking portals must be easy to use

The most important requirement of companies when booking business travel is simple and intuitive handling. This was the result of a study by BCD Travel Switzerland,.

geschaeftsreisen

A best price guarantee and the ability to book all travel elements in one portal are also rated as features that such portals should have. According to the study, the user-friendliness of the portals is the most important factor for every second company (52 percent) when booking business travel online. In addition, many companies (44 percent) expect the portal to display the best available price for the requested business trip. Almost one in three companies would like all travel elements to be bookable in one portal. 23 percent consider it a further advantage if travel profiles can be created for different people. 22 percent also value the ability to store their own travel policies. Price comparisons for accommodation and means of transport from an independent provider would still like to find almost every fifth person (18 percent) in the portal offering. "An online travel portal must also support companies in making the settlement of travel expenses simple and efficient," says Michel Jegerlehner, Director Sales & Account Management BCD Travel Switzerland. "This also helps to avoid billing problems when reimbursing travel expenses."

For the study, 100 managing directors and those responsible for business travel in Swiss companies were surveyed. It was conducted by BCD Travel. The booking portal, which is already active in Germany and specializes in business travel, will also be launched in Switzerland in September. The aim is to make booking business travel as simple and transparent as possible. According to the announcement, BCD Travel offers much of what companies want, according to the study. (pd/hae)

Fee collection is put out to tender

Companies that wish to collect the general fee for radio and television reception in the future can apply to the federal government by mid-November. The new fee system will be launched in early 2019.

bakom-ausschreibung-2

The mandate for collecting the device-independent household fee, which will replace the current reception fee under the new Radio and Television Act (RTVA), was put out to public tender, the Federal Office of Communications (OFCOM) announced on Tuesday. Applications can be submitted by Billag, which currently collects the device-based reception fee, and other companies. The procedure will be carried out by OFCOM. Interested companies can submit their bids on the electronic platform on public procurement Simap. The contract is expected to be awarded in the first quarter of 2017.

Test phase from July 2017

Whoever receives the mandate is to begin preparations in July 2017. Specifically, the necessary infrastructure for the collection of the household levy is to be provided and tested. In the process, the new collection agency will work closely with the cantons and municipalities. These provide the household data from the population registers. Registrations, changes and deregistrations will be recorded automatically. The first invoices under the new system are to be sent out by the central survey office at the beginning of January 2019. The mandate agreement with the federal government will run until the end of 2025.

Lower compensation

Until the start of the new levy system, the device-based reception fee will remain in force. Swisscom's subsidiary Billag, whose contract expires on this date, will be compensated for collection by the federal government to the tune of CHF 54 million per year. How high the compensation will be in the new mandate is to be contractually regulated after the surcharge. However, this will be "lower," as OFCOM writes. This is because the Federal Tax Administration (FTA) will be responsible for collecting the corporate levy in the future. It will invoice the companies on the basis of the VAT register.

Television on the cell phone

The basis for the change from the current reception fee to a device-independent fee is the revised RTVA, which came into force on July 1. The new levy system takes into account the fact that radio and TV programs can also be received on cell phones and computers and that most households therefore have reception devices. The Federal Council will not decide how high the new levy will be until shortly before the new system comes into force. It is likely that the levy for private households will fall from CHF 451 today to CHF 400. Since the levy for radio and television is no longer device-dependent, all households and companies will in principle be subject to the levy when the new system comes into force in 2019. However, people who receive AHV or IV benefits or those who live in a retirement or nursing home will be exempt. Households without radio and television sets can be exempted on request for five years from the introduction of the new levy. (SDA)

Last but not least: At the stupidest moment

Google is once again taking a jab at its archrival Apple—in a rather refreshing way.

googlephotos
The two ICT giants Apple and Google will probably never be good friends again. But they can't do without each other. The two camps are too powerful for that. Apple customers do not want to do without Google products, and vice versa. That is why Google also offers the Google Photos service for iOS, for example - and Apple users a real alternative to the iCloud or the local iPhone storage. Because then the silly moment when you only notice that the memory is full when taking a picture is a thing of the past. A phenomenon that especially those people have to struggle with who keep their entire photo collection on the smartphone instead of backing up the pictures locally every now and then and then deleting them. In everyday life, you realize that this is an astonishingly large number of people. Of course, there are also iCloud, Dropbox or other cloud solutions, but experience shows that Google offers a lot and does not even want money for it in most cases - the nice giant from next door is satisfied with a few user data. And so the Google Photos app is also free - 3.23 GB cloud storage included. Maybe you'll remember that the next time the "storage full" message pops up. (hae)

Allianz Cinema: Successful start into new era

Switzerland’s largest open-air movie theater kicked off its season in mid-July amid cool, autumnal weather. The final screening, featuring «The Martian,» took place on Sunday amid warm, midsummer weather. This brings the total number of screenings to 31—with a total audience of over 48,000.

The organizers are satisfied. The next edition of Allianz Cinema (formerly Orange/Salt Cinema) in Zurich will take place next year from July 13 to August 13.

Zurich's open-air cinema season is always short-lived and therefore all the more intense and popular. 2016 will go down in history as a mixed summer: The weather made some capers, but open-air cinema visitors know how to wrap up warmly and on rainy evenings the organizers gave away free rain tarpets. Nevertheless, over 48'000 spectators came to the 31 performances.

Switzerland's oldest and largest open-air cinema is known for its exclusive previews. So this year, too, visitors were fed with cinematic delicacies: "Sing Street" kicked things off, "Demolition" focused on sensitive cinema with Jake Gyllenhaal and Naomi Watts. "Now You See Me 2" brought a magical sequel with a great ensemble of actors (Woody Harrelson, Mark Ruffalo, Michael Caine, Morgan Freeman and Daniel Radcliffe) to the giant screen at Lake Zurich, and with "Mother's Day" a film found its way to Zurich's Seefeld that provided the best entertainment.

allainzcinema

The German-speaking Swiss premiere of "Finding Dory" also delivered a highlight. The follow-up film to "Finding Nemo" was eagerly awaited and, despite light rain, the enthusiastic spectators stayed on site until the last minute.

Organizer Peter Hürlimann of Cinerent is fully satisfied with the 2016 edition: "I was delighted with the varied cinema program and the warm summer evenings by the lake. We are all happy and relieved that the renewed rebranding went well and was appreciated by our visitors. Now we go with great confidence into a long-term future with our new title sponsor and start planning for 2017".

Advertising market in summer slump

Like last year, advertising pressure in July fell into a summer slump in 2016. Nevertheless, the leisure industry, restaurants and tourism increased their advertising spending.

sommerloch

The heated summer month of July recorded a gross value print of 276 million Swiss francs. Compared to the previous month, the gross value print decreased by more than 100 million and thus falls into the summer slump. With a minus of 3.3 percent, the value is behind the previous year's value. In keeping with the summer season, it is the leisure, catering and tourism sector that increased its advertising print compared with the same month last year. The biggest drop in July, after a high in the previous month, was recorded by the cleaning industry.

Energy & more

The energy sector remains well on track. Since the beginning of the year, it has steadily increased its gross power print compared with the previous year. The seasons, and especially the summer lull, leave the energy sector cold. Compared to the same month last year, it increased its gross value added by 34 percent. The tobacco industry has risen like Phoenix from the ashes and is experiencing its revival in July, largely due to a promotion of a cigarette brand. Compared to the previous year's figure, it increased its gross power print by 87.6 percent and thus occupies first place among the industries that placed significantly more advertising compared to the same month last year. Smoke-free was yesterday.

Happy holidays

Summer, beach and sea - what more could you want? That's what companies in the leisure, hospitality and travel industry thought and, as usual during the vacation season, they banged the advertising drum in July as well. All in all, the leisure, catering and tourism industry reported a plus of 25.5 percent compared to the same month last year. It is therefore one of the top three sectors that generated more advertising pressure in July than in the same month last year.

Summer slump in the cleaning industry

The summer lull has made itself particularly felt in the Cleaning, Digital & Household, and Finance sectors. Cleaning is no fun when the sun is shining and the temperature outside is 28 degrees. In July, the cleaning sector recorded a year-on-year decline of 23.9 percent. In second place is the Digital & Household sector, which suffered a decline of 22.6 percent in July. The Finance sector shows a further reduction in advertising pressure. Compared with the same month last year, it reduced its advertising print by 21 percent. The Insurance product group, which is part of the Finance sector, is also down 25.7 percent on the same month last year.
