RSR: Former cantonal judge tasked with investigation

At RSR, a radio station in western Switzerland, the scandal surrounding child pornography images downloaded from the Internet is currently escalating. Jacques Reymond, a former cantonal judge from Vaud, has now been appointed to lead the investigation. He is expected to begin his work immediately.

The affair surrounding child pornography images downloaded from the Internet is currently swelling at Radio RSR in French-speaking Switzerland. Former Vaud cantonal judge Jacques Reymond has now been appointed to investigate. He is to start work immediately. Jean-Francois Roth, Chairman of the Board of Directors of RTSR, and SRG Director General Armin Walpen have given the mandate to Reymond. No information will be provided during the investigation, according to a press release issued on Wednesday. The Board of Directors of RTSR considers the appointment of Reymond to be an important step towards restoring trust and enabling the employees and management of RSR to concentrate fully on their work again.
The affair broke at the beginning of March when a computer scientist, who had discovered the child pornographic images in 2005 at a member of the management, brought the matter to the public's attention. The cadre member was suspended by RSR until the proceedings were concluded.
The matter provoked demonstrators on Wednesday afternoon: between 120 and 150 people protested in front of the building of the French-speaking Swiss radio station in Lausanne. They demanded the reinstatement of the dismissed IT specialist. If this does not happen, the employees want to discuss a possible strike.

Even Tarzan is vulnerable

Prevention: Euro RSCG presents «Love Life,» “the hottest campaign of the year,” for Swiss AIDS Relief. It has already caused quite a stir. Read on to find out why this advertising campaign is more striking and louder than its predecessors.

Prevention Euro RSCG presents Love Life, "the hottest campaign of the year" for Aids-Hilfe Schweiz.
The reactions were not only predictable, but also planned for. Since March 31, the Federal Office of Public Health's new campaign has been on display throughout Switzerland and is attracting attention. As the false sense of security "once is not a once" is once again coming into play for many people, it was necessary to "become more striking and louder again", explains Frank Bodin, the person responsible for the new campaign at Euro RSCG. It therefore focuses on exceptional situations in which people often do not behave as rationally and sensibly as one would wish. "Many people neglect the necessary protection in such exceptional situations," says consultant Caroline Ronzani from the FOPH briefing. People act recklessly, for example, on vacation and business trips to exotic countries, during one-night stands, when having sex in new relationships, during sex at major events such as the upcoming European Football Championship, but also during sex at parties and company celebrations or when visiting the sex trade.
CD Claude Catsky's team has dramatized these exceptional situations in four summarizing subjects. These were staged by Swedish photographer Bisse Bengtsson and produced by Jenny Gedda at Adamsky Stockholm. The image processing was done by Hayri Er, C2. The four subjects revolve around homosexual contacts, vacation acquaintances, sex under the influence of alcohol and at a party.
The pictures have been created on three levels. The background is paint brush. In addition, a fantasy world was built in miniature on a second layer and finally brought together with the models in the computer.
The creatives describe their work as "love advertising". It has to be "beautifully realized in order to still stand out in a world overloaded with images". The agency expects that many posters will also be ordered by schools and private individuals. For this reason, special small formats have also been printed. The impact of these small posters must also be relied upon because the campaign makers at the FOPH and Euro RSCG are also facing new challenges for 2008. "Due to a reduced media budget, it was no longer possible to generate the same high advertising pressure as before," explains Bodin. This also explains why it was necessary to modify the campaign tonality in an attempt to "still generate the same impact".
While the previous core values of communication - life-affirming, motivating, fun and topical - had to remain at the forefront, the campaign was also to be characterized by greater sharpness and clarity in order to ensure a high level of involvement among the target groups and maximum attention. The goal for 2008 was therefore clear: to generate more discussion and conversation. The result was "one of the FOPH's most unusual, boldest and probably hottest campaigns ever", as Bodin puts it.
In general, the task of the 2008 campaign was to provide an umbrella for all activities within the framework of the prevention work of the Federal Office of Public Health and Swiss AIDS Federation. To ensure optimum impact, communication is spread across a broad spectrum of communication media.
In addition to broad-based distribution via advertisements and posters, a consistent online strategy also increasingly takes into account the changing media usage behavior of the Swiss population with the sites www.lovelife.ch and www.check-your-lovelife.ch. In new and, for budget reasons, short TV commercials as well as viral spots on the website, inexpensive recycled short commercials with the "Lovelips" in a new soundtrack are used. These also dramatize the extreme situations - sex on steamy occasions, on vacation or business trips and in nightlife.
The campaign also seeks proximity to the location of the event and a strong local presence in order to stimulate interactive processes between the brand and target groups. A concentrated presence in red light districts, nightclubs and bars creates direct points of contact and confronts the target groups with the topic at the right time.

Last but not least: Be.Stupid campaigns

The "be Berlin" image campaign has met with little approval in the German capital: in a survey, 60 percent gave it the thumbs down. How much better the claim "We live Zurich" is anchored among the inhabitants of the city on the Limmat...

Some time ago, we reported here on the image campaign that the Berlin Senate commissioned for the German capital (see ). The advertising campaign has been on air for a few weeks now and has not been met with enthusiasm everywhere. Bloggers have been discussing accusations of plagiarism and hanky-panky in the awarding of contracts, while others have summarily apostrophized the "be Berlin" claim as "be stupid". Now a survey has shown that the complainers are not alone: 60 percent of people in the capital think the campaign is bad, only 34 percent give it the thumbs up. This was the result of a survey conducted by the Berliner Zeitung. The mission of the advertising campaign, which is centered around the website
The aim of the project is to promote citizens' identification with their metropolis. Things are probably better in the city on the Limmat. The slogan "We live Zurich" seems to be catching on with the population, at least its radical rejection of prepositions. For example, the Werbewoche editorial team recently overheard a teenager on the S-Bahn who let his buddy know via cell phone: "Ich bi grad Wollishofe, und nachhär chum ich Bahnhof Ängi".

Jedele's return

Markus Jedele, Head of TV Research at Mediapulse AG, is joining the SRG Executive Board.

SRG Markus Jedele, Head of TV Research at Mediapulse AG, is moving to the SRG Directorate General.Markus Jedele was responsible for television research and the Telecontrol Panel in the former SRG Research Service for many years. When the research service was spun off from the SRG Research Foundation and integrated into the newly established Mediapulse Foundation in 2007 in accordance with the new RTVA, Jedele also left. Now he is returning to SRG. As an advisor, he will report directly to the Director General.
Administratively, it will be integrated into the Strategy and Planning department. This was announced by deputy SRG spokesperson Daniel Steiner on request. As media officer, Jedele will advise Director General Armin Walpen on strategic program issues, work on program-related aspects in the strategy process and oversee national research issues.
Jedele, who is widely praised, is also described in an internal SRG communication as an "outstandingly qualified media researcher". Mediapulse is reluctant to let him go. Manuel Dähler, CEO of Mediapulse AG, has insisted that the job change will only take place once Jedele's successor at Mediapulse has been settled. However, SRG spokesman Steiner assumes that the change will take place "by June 1, 2008 at the latest".
With the appointment of Jedele as Media Officer, Armin Walpen closes a competence gap that has arisen as a result of the outsourcing of the research service to Mediapulse AG. In 2006, the SRG management made the fundamental decision to create a media department within the DG. "With Jedele, methodological aspects of audience research and the analysis of the diverse developments in the media industry will once again be systematically integrated into the strategic work of the Executive Board and Board of Directors," reads the internal SRG press release. The SRG concession of last November has given the media department additional importance, as it places high demands on quantitative and qualitative program controlling, among other things.

UBI: 30 complaints against radio and TV

In 2007, the Independent Complaints Authority for Radio and Television (UBI) received 30 complaints about radio and television broadcasts. That is 10 more than the previous year. Of the 19 cases resolved, five were upheld.

30 complaints against radio and television broadcasts were received by the Independent Complaints Authority for Radio and Television (UBI) in 2007. This is 10 more than in the previous year. Of the 19 cases settled, five were upheld. In addition to a Santésuisse commercial broadcast by various radio stations and a Tele Züri report on the Zurich Animal Welfare Association, three Swiss Television SF broadcasts were affected, as the UBI writes in its annual report published on Tuesday. It approved the complaints against one report each from "Schweiz aktuell" (Fribourg original in the government), "10vor10" (Swiss therapy station "Fuente Alamo") and "Kassensturz" (report on cosmetic surgeons).
The Federal Supreme Court has upheld the UBI's decisions against the reports by "Schweiz aktuell" and "10vor10"; the proceedings regarding the "Kassensturz" report are still pending.
In particular, the UBI criticized the violation of the principle of fairness. However, despite errors in disputed broadcasts, it rejected some complaints as it is not permitted to carry out any actual technical supervision, writes the UBI. The complaints received in 2007 concerned television broadcasts in 25 cases and radio broadcasts in 5 cases. 19 concerned German-language broadcasts, 9 French-language broadcasts and 2 Italian-language broadcasts.

April, April with AutoBaz and Radio Bloch

This year, too, numerous newspapers played April Fools' pranks on their readers with wild stories. Among the highlights were a supposed commuter newspaper for drivers published by the Baz, Toni Brunner’s pirate radio station, and a “Federal Beer” for Euro 08.

Once again this year, numerous newspapers sent their readers into April with wild stories. Among the highlights are an alleged Baz newspaper for car commuters, Toni Brunner's pirate radio and a national beer for Euro 08. The news portal Onlinereports takes the Basler Zeitung Medien for a ride: the publishing house is planning to launch an AutoBaZ, a free newspaper for car commuters. Public transport commuters already have a wide choice of free newspapers, but there is still potential for car drivers. The big car advertisement on the Baz front page at the beginning of January would have tipped the scales. Although it had caused annoyance among readers, it had triggered enthusiasm among the automobile associations. The first issue would be published on July 1 - in the first week of the summer vacation. Along commuter congestion routes, 280 automatic distribution boxes, so-called "Metallic Postmen", would be set up.
Onlinereports backs up the story with numerous fictitious quotes. For example, AZ-Medien publisher Peter Wanner reacted to the new competition with the following words: "We also have our arrows in the quiver and will let you hear from us soon. But I'm not talking about that today." Beat Meyer, CEO of Basler Zeitung Medien, takes the joke in his stride. In the comments section on Onlinereports, he says that an important aspect has been forgotten: the metal letter carriers are protesting in the union and cannot be appeased even with free anti-rust products.
Federal beer monopoly to be cracked The Basler Zeitung naturally has its own April Fool's joke in store: the Federal Competition Commission (Weko) is said to be planning to crack the beer monopoly of main sponsor Carlsberg in the Euro fan zones. The Baz refers to an alleged Weko recommendation to the Federal Council. According to this, the Federal Council should remedy the market-preventing monopoly situation. Specifically, it should issue an ordinance to launch a "Federal Beer Euro 2008", which four independent Swiss brewers will allegedly launch in May.
Toni Brunner launches pirate radio station In Eastern Switzerland, SVP President Toni Brunner was sent into April: The Sarganserländer reports that Brunner has thrown in his hat in view of the merger of the Ri and Aktuell radio stations and the discussions about the folk music presence on DRS 1. He wants to go on air with the pirate station "Radio Bloch". The national anthem is to be played at 12 noon each day. In addition, the unflattering title of "Smurf of the Week" is to be awarded to a public figure every Tuesday. Presenters and disc jockeys are now being sought. Conditions of employment: Swiss citizenship, 18 years old, good pronunciation.
Marc Forster is filming in Winterthur The April Fool's joke in the Winterthur Landbote comes from the world of film: It invites interested parties to register as extras for the new "James Bond" film by director Marc Forster. He wants to shoot a scene in Winterthur's Arch parking garage. In the film, however, the action is set in Panama City.
