Last but not least: Barack Obama's cabinet of mirrors

When Barack Obama visits Europe and the Middle East in late July, a whole entourage of media representatives will accompany him and provide live coverage back in the U.S. Interest is apparently enormous. So Obama’s trip is likely to take him less to the Old World than to American living rooms.

On his upcoming trip through Europe and the Middle East, US presidential candidate Barack Obama will be under constant observation by the journalistic elite from the USA. The star presenters of the major television channels ABC, NBC and CBS will accompany him on the trip in the week from July 21 to 27 and present their programs directly from countries such as Israel, Germany and France, as reported by the New York Times according to SDA. The interest in the USA is obviously huge, so the media have sent around 50 journalists to follow Obama and, of course, keep a close eye on whether the candidate makes a blunder abroad. So the media darling is traveling through the countries of the Old World with an entourage that mirrors him in the media. And it is quite possible that he will never really make it there because his speeches are not for his hosts but for the viewers at home. Either way, it should be an exciting week.

For a few seconds, a sun with dark glasses appears on a bath towel before quickly switching to the new website.
The situation will be analyzed over the weekend and legal action will be taken, said SVP party spokesman Alain Hauert at the request of SDA. The SVP had demanded that the Thurgau production company responsible for the BDP website change the new party's internet presence and not use the name SVP or the People's Party logo in any form.

BZ journalists acquitted of breach of official secrecy

Two journalists from Bern did not violate official secrecy when they published the results of an internal vote by the cantonal government in 2004. This was the ruling of the Bern Higher Court.

Two journalists from the Berner Zeitung did not violate official secrecy when they published an internal vote result of the cantonal government in 2004. This was decided by the Bernese High Court. According to SDA, it came to the conclusion that freedom of opinion and information was more important in this case than the state's interest in keeping the voting behavior secret. It therefore overturned the conviction of a single criminal judge from 2005 and upheld the journalists' appeal. The single judge had found the journalists guilty, but did not impose a sentence. The vote in the cantonal council concerned the question of whether the Bernese government should submit a counter-proposal to the tax reduction initiative of the business associations. The two journalists made it public that the two SP and FDP representatives had voted against it.
