Republica raises awareness of the long-term effects of asbestos for the EFA Foundation
The Bern-based creative agency Republica has developed a national campaign for the EFA Foundation to raise awareness of the still-deadly consequences of asbestos. A 21-second commercial aims to highlight the fact that asbestos-related diseases can still be fatal even decades later.

With a national campaign, the EFA Foundation (Compensation Fund for Asbestos Victims) is strengthening its public profile and underlining the ongoing relevance of its work. The aim is to raise awareness of the deadly consequences of asbestos to this day and to refocus social and political attention. The Foundation's role as a low-threshold compensation solution is to be consolidated.
Although asbestos has been banned in Switzerland for decades, more than 150 people still die from its long-term effects every year. At the same time, the number of applications received by the EFA Foundation has fallen significantly in recent years. This is precisely where the new campaign comes in: it aims to combat collective repression and remind people that asbestos is not a closed chapter.
Emotional storytelling meets prevention ideas
The centerpiece of the communication campaign is a 21-second commercial. The film works with a touching contrast in content: People show their healed everyday injuries - visible scars that have long since ceased to be a problem. The carefree mood is abruptly interrupted. Because while the everyday injuries mentioned pass, asbestos-related illnesses can have fatal consequences even decades later. The TV commercial combines the emotional impact with a clear message: "Accidents pass. Unfortunately, asbestos does not."
At the same time, the commercial refers to the concrete help provided by the EFA Foundation, which supports those affected and their relatives quickly and easily.
Modular and omnichannel-capable
The moving image concept was developed by Republica on a modular basis and designed for use across various channels. The campaign is complemented by measures that address medical professionals, multipliers and political stakeholders in particular. The campaign is part of a broader communication strategy with which the EFA Foundation is further strengthening its social legitimacy.
The commercial was filmed by the production company Stories, in which Natascha Vavrina, as director, lent the necessary emotion to the concept idea with great sensitivity. With this campaign, the EFA Foundation is sending out a clear message: it is there because it is needed - today more than ever.
