Programmatic premiere: Outdoor Media links DOOH with flight schedules
With an international digital out-of-home campaign, Avaloq and Outdoor Media are demonstrating just how precise data-driven outdoor advertising can be today. To launch the study «Avaloq Wealth Insights 2025 – Global Perspectives on Investor Behavior and Wealth Management Trends,» the duo relied on programmatically controlled ads at airports in Zurich, Geneva, Frankfurt, and Singapore—specifically targeting locations where opinion leaders from the financial world travel.
For the first time, DOOH spaces were dynamically linked to current flight schedules. The spots appeared exclusively in the departure areas for selected financial centers - at the exact time of boarding. "This form of contextual targeting was implemented for the first time in Switzerland. It shows how programmatic outdoor advertising can reach target groups at the right moment, in the right place and in the right environment," explain Julia Hartung and Ivan Schultheiss from Outdoor Media.
Best practice for international communication
The combination of data-driven technology, an international environment and creative brand staging made the campaign a best-case example of modern out-of-home communication. "We were able to position our global research on the wealth management industry with maximum relevance and visibility among a highly qualified target group," says Orlando Werfeli, Group Head of Marketing & Communication at Avaloq.
Signal for the future of marketing
The project shows how data, technology and storytelling can be combined in the out-of-home advertising ecosystem. Especially in highly competitive markets such as the financial sector, programmatic DOOH advertising opens up new ways for brands to reach relevant target groups globally and in real time.
