Plastic currently does not have an easy standing in our society: the energy and resources required for its production and not least the images of growing mountains of waste overshadow the industry's ambitions to address these challenges. That plastic can indeed be part of a sustainable future and is too valuable to simply be thrown away is the overarching message of "Plastics Unwrapped.. The podcast series was launched by Dow, a company active in the manufacture of plastic-based packaging solutions, among other things.

On the derivation of the sound identity, Judy Hicks, Business Communications Leader at Dow Europe, who also hosts the podcast, says: "I was very interested to learn how Department of Noise managed to narrow down our project and its sustainability ambitions and translate them into sound. Throughout the process we were involved and engaged in the development: The sound conveys a sense of hope, optimism, technical know-how and inspiration. It's truly an asset to our entire podcast series."

Due to the current Corona pandemic, most of the conversations took place virtually. Since an effective "roundtable feeling" can only be created through high sound quality, the participants were integrated with the help of local recording studios. Says Judy Hicks: "In the production of the podcast, Department of Noise played a major role in bringing the participants, who were spread all over the globe, together on a virtual level as well. And the quality speaks for itself."

The first three episodes are now available on the usual streaming platforms and will be continuously expanded with new topics and discussion guests in the coming months. The broad-based launch campaign for this underscores the fact that audio-only formats have become an integral part of today's communications mix.
