Brave new world: 20 years of Light + Building
How connectivity makes our lives, work, and mobility easier is a major theme at Light + Building 2020 at Messe Frankfurt. 98 percent of visitors are very satisfied with the trade show.

40 percent of our energy consumption is used for building technology, 30 percent for mobility. How energy is already being used intelligently today can be seen from March 8 to 13, 2020 at Light + Building with its focus on "Networked lighting and building technology" at Messe Frankfurt. It is celebrating its 20th anniversary.
In these 20 years it has grown by 50 percent in exhibitors. Today 2700 producers participate. With 220,000 visitors, more than 52 of them from abroad, this figure has more than doubled.

Smart networks for more security
Networked lighting and building technology is a catalyst of the 21st century. The personal and business safety, efficiency, and comfort it brings will benefit the world's rapidly growing urban centers in particular.
Light + Building shows the networking of intelligent building systems and the influence of forward-looking lighting design on our lives. In Hall 9.1, Intersec Building shows the theory and practice of networked security technology.

Smart Living in the E-House
Anyone who wants to find out what building networking means today and in the future cannot avoid a visit to Hall 11.0 with the E-Haus (image: ZVEH) of the Central Association of German Electrical and Information Technology Trades ZVEH. It is a fixed highlight at the trade fair and will show numerous innovations in 2020.
For example, how AI-supported room control of the heating can save a large part of the heating energy. Voice control systems are not cloud-based and thus ensure optimum data protection and data security. Integrated entry control via facial recognition software makes on-site key handling obsolete. Intelligent technology can also be used to make windows non-transparent when entering the bathroom, people with disabilities can lower kitchen cabinets to the desired height via voice and gesture control, and smart alarm systems make properties safer. The various technologies in the e-house are operated via tablets or can be controlled via smartphone.

Luminale: Let there be light
Light + Building shows the networked world of tomorrow - and what of it is already ready for use today. In 2018, exhibitors from all over the world took part, from Switzerland companies such as Kimoto, Architonic, Schätti or Regent. In terms of visitor nations, Switzerland is one of the strongest participants after Germany, China, Italy and France.
Parallel to Light + Bilding, Luminale, Biennale for Light Art and Urban Design with 250,000 visitors from the surrounding area, will take place in Frankfurt from March 12 to 15, 2020.
