Tamedia selected for international AI program

With the "AI Lab", Tamedia was able to prevail against many other applicants and is allowed to participate with the Tages-Anzeiger in the international AI program "AI Launchpad" of the Google News Initiative and FT Strategies.

As one of eight media companies selected from a pool of more than 100 applications, the Tages-Anzeiger is taking part in a five-month AI program run by FT Strategies and the Google News Initiative (GIN). The aim of the so-called AI Launchpad is to test practical possibilities of artificial intelligence together with seven other media companies from Austria, Bulgaria, Estonia, Israel, the Netherlands, Spain and Turkey and to further develop their own AI strategy without disclosing their own data. The free program has already started and ends in July.

Representatives from various divisions

The winning team consists of representatives from various divisions of Tamedia. They are Adrian Panholzer and Titus Plattner (both Editorial), Kaan Keskin (Advertising), Moritz Ackermann (Consumer Business), Naunidh Virk (Analytics/Data), Lukas Schwab (Technology) and Nadia Kohler (Product). The successful application can be traced back to Tamedia's "AI Lab", which was founded in November 2023. The eight-member AI team, led by Nadia Kohler, Head Product Management Content Development, is driving the development and integration of AI technologies within the company.

This also includes the development of AI tools that are already in use. These tools support the writing of news teasers, the creation of search engine-optimized headlines and short summaries for the company's newsletters, for example.

The members of the AI Lab are Nadia Kohler, Jonas Rüegsegger, Christian Zellweger (both from the Newsroom Automation division), Anja Licka (Consumer Business), Markus Hausmann, Titus Plattner (both Editorial) and Sergio Reyero Diaz and Stefanos Kalantzis (both Technology).
