Moving Media Basel, the joint marketing company of transport operators BVB and BLT, now also allows political advertising on the exterior surfaces of its vehicles.

In August 2016, the indoor advertising formats were already approved. As of now, the F24, F12, and F200 poster formats as well as other outdoor advertising formats can also be booked on the vehicles of Basler Verkehrs-Betriebe (BVB) and Baselland Transport (BLT).

The relaxation of advertising regulations is in response to a growing demand from advertising customers, according to a press release. Political advertising can now be booked for outdoor advertising formats (F200, F12, F24, bus rear, roof advertising). Political advertising, on the other hand, remains excluded for full-service streetcars and full-service buses.

However, Moving Media reserves the right, as in the past, to reject advertising that is discriminatory, defamatory or racist in any way or that violates the interests of the transport companies or the shareholders of Moving Media (BVB and BLT). The provisions are regulated in detail in the General Terms and Conditions.

"After almost all parties booked hanging boxes and digital screens in the streetcars and buses during the Basel government elections in the fall of 2016, we are now expanding the offer to include outdoor advertising formats," Moving Media CEO Hans-Georg Bell said in a statement. "With the liberalization of advertising regulations, we expect to generate additional revenue for Moving Media's parent companies, BVB and BLT, and thus make a contribution to relieving the financial burden on the public sector."

Moving Media Basel (MMB) is a subsidiary of Basler Verkehrs-Betriebe (BVB) and Baselland Transport (BLT). Founded in April 2016, the company markets advertising space in and on BVB and BLT streetcars and buses. (pd/hae)
