Clear Channel celebrates VBZ launch
As of January 2017, Clear Channel Switzerland will market the approximately 1,200 advertising spaces at bus and streetcar stops of the Zurich public transport company VBZ. On Thursday, Clear Channel celebrated the launch of the new offer together with more than 100 guests.
Guests could enjoy poetry slam or the live performance of street artists in the VBZ streetcar depot Kalkbreite. Culinary delights rounded off the program for the visitors.
Every week, 6.25 million passengers use the VBZ and get on and off at the stops - that's 326 million passengers a year. With the new VBZ contract and the existing advertising spaces, Clear Channel claims to be the new number 1 out-of-home marketer in the city of Zurich. "The VBZ sites complement our offering in a logical way. Due to its urban, mobile and affluent target groups, Zurich is particularly attractive for advertisers. In addition, we are of course also strong in other segments, be it POS, gas stations or airports. With us, customers get the best offer from a single source", Sales Director Diego Quintarelli is quoted as saying in a statement.
Clear Channel has last fall Winning a public tender for the marketing of the VBZ areas. Clear Channel secured the contract with a significantly higher bid than the then contract partner APG|SGA. At the time, APG described the Clear Channel bid as "incomprehensible" and "not economical". The bidding competition, conducted in accordance with public procurement rules, will result in a significant improvement in revenue for the city of Zurich from 2017, from the previous 5.5 million to 11 million Swiss francs per year.
