Locarno Film Festival brings in an advisory board
Personalities from the national and international film industry will advise the Locarno Film Festival's Board of Directors in future. This is the festival organizers' response to the realization that the film world is at a turning point.
Eight industry professionals are members of the so-called "Industry Advisory Board", which will discuss and report to the Board of Directors. This was announced by the Locarno Film Festival on Monday.
The idea behind this advisory body is to "shed more light on auteur cinema". According to the press release, the film industry has had to adapt to "significant changes in its material conditions and underlying distribution strategies" in recent years. One aim is to network with other sectors of the industry worldwide.
Nadia Dresti will head the committee. She has been a member of the Locarno Film Festival Board of Directors since 2022. She has been involved with the Festival since 2000, when she was Marketing Director of 20th Century Fox Switzerland.
The Advisory Board also includes producer Ted Hope, the President of the Swiss Cinema Association Edna Epelbaum and Bobby Allen, who works in the field of digital distribution strategies. Marion Klotz, head of the Locarno Industry Academy International, is also on the board, as is Beki Probst, who currently advises the Berlinale, and Emmanuel Cuénod, former director of the Geneva International Film Festival (GIFF). Gerardo Michelin is to contribute his expertise on Latin American cinema as an additional member.
The 77th edition of the Locarno Film Festival takes place from August 7 to 17. (SDA/swi)
